Enter Shaqiri (Done Deal!)

Shaqiri is a perfect player to bring on in the last 15 minutes of a game where we are 1 goal down to receive the ball in a dangerous position, cut inside and BLAST IT OVER THE BAR! And then do the same thing again... and again. We still lose by one goal, but at least we feel like we had chances. That’s totally worth £12M in my book.

He seems to have lived is football career in reverse: Basel - Bayern - Inter - Stoke, with him finishing his career at Basel instead of going the wrong way...

Anyhoo, I dont like him. Looks like a cunt, acts like a cunt but has some skills obviously.
Dont know if I want him even for 12 mill, but Klopp and Edwards know what they’re doing.
If Klopp wants him then I’ll support him.

Hes alright like. Allllllll-rrrrite.

He has some days hes amazing, and back in his basel days I well wanted him.

Maybe he is this years Ox.

I dont mind signing him. Hes cheap and a good....GOOD....player.

8 goals and 7 assists for relegated toothless side isn't bad. Had the shit bags not sold their striker to West Ham they'd still be up.

Better him then a questionable 22 year old from Belgium, even if his name is Moses

Doesnt set my knickers on fire like but we need more players.
So ok.
Fabinho
Keita
Shaquiri

Moar please.

I'd get him, lock him in a cell until all that excessive upper-body muscle fades away, then re-train him as a lean and nippy little wide player and use him from the bench.

We do definitely need more able subs/squad players, especially in the midfield

What this manager & transfer team has done is build up trust. The vast majority of us had question marks about a number of our signings, Salah is obviously much better than we expected, but equally Mane has been, Chamberlain was until his injury, Robertson had most of us scratching our heads if not simply laughing at the signing.

They've been vindicated time & again, & whilst I'll never simply blindly trust a signing, I'm certainly not going to second guess anything but the most outlandish ones & I'll be giving them a lot longer to impress than perhaps I have in the past.

I can’t see this happening. I seem to rememeber that we were linked with him before he went to Stoke but it was never going to happen as Klopp didn’t rate him. Tell me I’m not imagining this but didn’t Klopp say something about not liking players who only play for themselves and some people thought he was talking about Shaqiri?

Paul Joyce carries the story, too. I don't quite know how he's doing it, but at the moment he's got really reliable sources at the club, so I'd take this seriously:

Liverpool hold an interest in Xherdan Shaqiri as Jürgen Klopp looks to bolster his squad by recruiting two more attacking players. Nabil Fekir remains the main target, although Lyons have so far refused to set a definitive price for the talented France international which has complicated discussions.

Shaqiri has said he will leave Stoke City following their demotion to the Championship and is reputed to have a release clause in the region of £12 million to £13 million. The Switzerland attacker has said he wants to remain in England and that price tag would appeal to a number of clubs with Everton and Southampton also weighing up a move for the 26-year-old. Mark Hughes, the Southampton manager, signed Shaqiri for Stoke in 2015.

“It is no secret that I will leave the club,” said Shaqiri. “I think the [Premier] league is perfect for me. I would love to stay in England but I don’t want to rule anything out. It’s the best league with the best players.”

Klopp has no specific plans to sign an out-and-out No 9 this summer and so wants versatile, attacking players who would increase the competition with Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino after they carried the burden for Liverpool last season.

Discussions will continue on whether to proceed with the interest in Shaqiri and, if the release clause is correct, Liverpool at least know the amount he will cost. Fekir has been rated at around £53 million, but Lyons’ refusal to actually name their price makes the pursuit of him more difficult.

Are there no stronger taller ones than the midgits we keep signing...for fucks sake this guy shaquiri is a player i always worry is gonna do damage to us and then he players and has the sort of game Firminio had against Madrid. Moron not like this.

12M is nothing these days so we could easily afford to buy him for the sake of it Chelsea style but in reality he'd be coming to play, which I'm less in favour of.

I get that we need to pad out the squad but the worry, as always, is that these signings will come at the expense of genuine quality.

Yes as cheap squad filler

Which is nice because not so long ago he'd be a major signing for us

Yeah he's well better as a squaddie than Ings or Sowanky, so I'd take him on that basis. If he's coming in as a starter, or instead of Fekir, then definitely not.

I don't want him.. Quite a few stoke players claimed he was one of the ones not arsed in training and shirking it on the field. We don't need divisive characters.

This cannot be far from the truth based on his performances for Stoke this season gone. Also the fact that he is skill-full and yet both Bayern and Inter did not see him as first team starter material is a little worrying plus their willingness to sell him despite his abilities. Definitely telling there is an attitude problem as well as a visible decision making issue when he is playing. I actually think Stoke and teams like that are his level, so Everton should have him I think - suites them fine having yet another inconsistent player. I cannot understand why we would go for him at all - yes he has pace and can dribble but you would think a player like him would have made a significant difference for Stoke against teams of that level but obviously he just cannot be arsed.

We want a strong bench full of good quality players - and although he has quality I think the attitude is totally wrong with regards to this guy. Really hope we stay clear of this one.

I'll be happy if we sign him and happy if we don't.

If we do he's cheap and adds qudlty

If we don't then the potential attitude problems are most like the reason why

I'm even more confused now.

In the Fekir thread there has been a massive derailing that involved lots of sandwich and sauce discussion.

Waka waka is bought a sandwich and a song by Shikira the singer.

As we are linked heavily with the player of the same name Ninja was trying to be funny.

The part of the title Abs don't lie is in reference to the shakira song with the line

"Shakira Shakira, hips down lie"

Replacing her hips as her best feature for his abs as he's a muscle man.

All a bit shit really but that's the meaning
