Sky are reporting that Manchester United have submitted a bid for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin!
That's not good!
There is increased confidence at Everton that a deal for Barcelona central defender Yerry Mina will get over the line before 5pm. As mentioned earlier, Everton have been trying to prise the Colombia international from Camp Nou for at least six weeks amid intense competition for his signature. A deal had not been agreed with the club or player as of yesterday but progress has been made in that time and Everton are hopeful that Mina will become the addition that manager Marco Silva has wanted from day one. Andre Gomes has been offered to Everton on loan during the negotiations with Barcelona. A deal for the former Valencia midfielder has not been ruled out by Everton but their priorities are Mina and finalising Bernard’s free transfer.
Translation: no one wants the poor Andre Gomes, not even Everton.
Unless Manchester United’s stance on Anthony Martial shifts or Lyon drop their asking price for Nabil Fekir − both highly unlikely scenarios − Chelsea will turn their attentions to shifting fringe players out on loan, with up to 15 expected to depart before the end of the month. Today’s exits are likely to include Kurt Zouma, who has interested Everton and, apparently, had been considered by United, while Milan are close to signing Tiemoue Bakayoko and Valencia have targeted Michy Batshuayi.
Chelsea got Kovacic on a season-long loan – but there is no buy option. If he has a great season at Chelsea, it's Real who will rip the benefit. Win-win for them.
