Gary Neville advised that we should focus on the PL 2 games week will takes it's toll and come Feb our team will feel the fatigue.
I couldn't careless for the League Cup or FA Cup and would use 2nd tier team but the CL and PL we have to play full strength team.

That was last season. This season we have no need to prioritise .. at least at this stage ... barring a rash of injuries.

I kind of agree.
I think away at PSG is a disposable game. I would literally ressie that shit.
The other 5 games we should play our best team abd in the league too

I think we'll twat PSG and Southampton without having to try too hard. Then rest everyone for the league cup game, followed by a few tough games before yet another break.

I find his comments oh so hypocritical..
Did they prioritise the League in 1999..

No they didn't.. In fact there where more games in the Champions League back then, and they did the treble..

This team needs to develop the same winning mentality.. So yes I would be happy to Start with the League Cup, because come what May, it may be the only thing we win given the competition we are up against in the Big 2 competitions..

Develop that winning mentality..

Gary Neville (according to his comments during the midweek England friendly) thinks that Trent Alexander Arnold is 'a defensive RB who isn't comfortable moving forward with the ball'. His knowledge of this club is either minimal or else he's on a campaign to say tongue-in-cheek things about us. No big club picks and chooses which competitions to take seriously. You rotate your squad and try to win each game. Getting knocked out of a competition sorts out priorities for you, not being in all of them.

He’s sort of rowed back after Klopp questioned how prioritising one competition over another would work. The press apparently misquoted him or reported it out of context.

Any case, I’m with Klopp on this one. Go full out until you are out.

He had a fair point, considering klopp has shown he no interest in the domestic cups in the past.

He didn't. There was nothing about the domestic cups, and Klopp isn't the only one to take it easy in domestic cups.

I'd quite like to see us lifting the League Cup or FA Cup at Wembley this year - but given the fixtures around it I guess we have to hope our ressies out play Chelsea's ressies next week.

How is reaching the final of one of them showing no interest?

In his first two seasons the start of the FA Cup coincided with injury crises for us, so it was no surprise we bombed out. Last season we got hit by the customary one good performance from a Pardew side. I'm sure Klopp would be happy to win a cup, especially so given that it would at least get that millstone off his neck, and this season we finally have more quality in the squad.

I wonder why a Manc cunt would suggest we step away from Big Ears?

Fuck Gary Neville...

Like most people, I do not give much of a fuck about the Carabonga or whatever Carabung is... we have a big squad so play the squaddies and good kids in that...

I have always loved the FA cup but then I'm old so...

Big Ears and Prem either of those would be loooooooovely thanks... both would be sublime ;)

To be fair to the Neville he is a pretty good pundit but... still enemy... he can fuck right off.

I think we will probably see a few changes for the Southampton game as they are pretty poor. The Chelsea game in the cup will be mainly 2nd string players and then back to our strongest XI for the Chelsea, Napoli and City matches.

Its during these periods of the season the likes of Clyne, Fabinho, Matip, Moreno, Shaq, Lallana, Solanke and Sturridge have to start making an impact. They should all be taking a good look at what Gomez has done this season and TAA last year with the opportunies theyve been given and use that as the template.

I watched the reserves highlights. Clyne, Dom and Origi all played. Origi and Dom defo should be scoring more at that level

It would have been nice to beat Chelsea but I can't lie and say I'm not glad we're out. Chelsea can take the burden of possible 6extra games.
The priority is the league and CL.

I don’t understand this mentality. Sure you can take positives from going out but to be glad?

Fuck that I want a trophy and this was by far the easiest one to win this season.

It's become a meaningless trophy, which carries no weight in a football bragging conversation. Exiting the competition gives us the edge over Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham.

Whilst I'd normally agree, this season I don't. Look at the team - we only had 2 x 1st team starters and for the other squad members it was important game time that will now be lost.

True but if we played the first teamers then the squaddies wouldn't get a chance anyway.

On the whole I think the team we put out was good enough to match Chelsea. Hazard's was a good goal and Mignolet's save on the first attempt was pretty nice too.

A trophy is a trophy. It stops bellend fans of other teams saying "when was the last time you won something", it breeds a winning mentality, especially given Klopps record in finals. It's exactly the sort of springboard we might have needed. Are you going to be saying the same if we get knocked out the FA Cup? What about the CL? Is it a blessing then because we get to concentrate on the league?

I have no gripes about going out against a good side, but all this Mickey mouse cup crap is laughable and embarrassing when we've only won one trophy since 2006. We need to win a trophy this season.

I'm pissed off we lost cos on the balance of play we should have just about won, or at least taken it to pens, losing it like that isn't nice.

However I'm not gutted, cos as I said before the match, if we play a b side & lose, then fuck it, it's the fourth priority for our club this season & means we have a little break here & there mid week, without it we'd be playing two & three times a week until Christmas I think.

TLDR; annoyed we lost, but fuck it, bigger fish to fry now.

Has it fuck. We exist to win trophies and we have won that more than any other cup.

Meaningless me hole. It may be the lesser of the four cups but you still have to go and win it.

I hate the attitude of saying it’s meaningless.

Fourth priority fine, but meaningless hell no.

We haven’t won anything for the longest stretch in 60 odd years.

Agree with all of that, except we went 7 years without a trophy between 1966 and 1973.
