I was gonna do a separate thread about Alex-Arn (and Fabinho) but have decided to use the topic to start the Fulham thread.

I know AA is still very young and still learning but worryingly he doesn't seem to be a quick learner. Added to that he's slow on the turn, positionally poor and slow to react.

Klopp has always said that AA might end up in midfield and I reckon now might be the time to try it (would have been better if we were still in the League Cup and could experiment there).

Fabinho looked okay against Cardiff and Huddersfield but was awful last night against Red Star and against Arsenal.

Fulham are appalling especially at the back so maybe this is the game to try something a bit different especially as Fabinho has played RB quite a bit over the years.

.........................................Allison......................................
Fabinho...............Gomez................VVD......................Robertson

Mané.................................Firmino..........................Salah.........

Fabinho was on the bench last night..
Keep him in midfield and start him on Sunday.

Fabs didn't play yesterday ...
Firmino you shouldn't play - he should be rested (read: dropped).
Shit, I know I had a few too many pints yesterday but that's ridiculous that I thought he was playing. In my defence our midfield was so anonymous that it's hard to make a case that Gini or Lallana were on the pitch.

Still, I am not convinced AA will ever make it at right back but I can see the makings of a very good DM and as yet Fabinho has a lot to prove. Maybe we can experiment with AA in midfield in the early rounds of the FA Cup if we get a couple of decent early round draws.

TAA will be a really good attacking midfielder IMHO. But he needs a few games out now. Let's be brutally honest with Clyne - he's got a hell of a lot of baggage which gets translated as 'bugs' and 'infections', but once he recovers from his latest 'stomach bug' he'd better damn well pay. It's become a farce, him sitting around on those wages.

TAA has had a couple of bad games but I'm not sure dropping him is the answer. I mean it picking Matip ahead of him is the answer I'm not sure what the fucking question is
Who has the worst heading ability of the entire squad?

That would be the question.

How a centre back, of all players, hasn't learned how to head the ball whilst being paid to play professionally is beyond me.

We loved Clyne as right back and said that position is sorted. Then Gomez played there and we said it llooks fine. Recently Trent has made the position his and we were cock-a-hoop.

So why do we think this is a problem area?

Because nearly after every game this season when TAA has played there - there have been issues. If it was Moreno who had these issues we would be trying to hang him.

Anyway the squad the for this game should be:-

.........................................Allison......................................
Clyne...............Gomez................VVD......................Robertson
..................................Fabi............Gini.......................................
.......................,...................Keita..........................
Mané.................................Shaqiri..........................Salah.........

Final Score should be 10-0 to us - anything less - and there is no hope for us in anything this season. We need to kill - no mercy, fight for every ball, fuck for every ball, blow and suck every ball.

Christ, if you're looking at the evidence of our last few games, and selecting the team on merit, we'd struggle to get a side out. Other selections depend on fitness, but if Henderson is ready, I'd start him.

Alisson

TAA-------Gomez--------Virgil-------Robbo

Shaqiri----Henderson-----Milner

Salah------Firmino-------Mane

There may be some other options - like Keita - to give Milner a rest, but that's what I'd play.

I like trying Fabinho at RB - he feels comfortable there, and it's a way of getting him up to speed without making him a liability. TAA, though, needs a few games not so much to rest as to think; he should sit down with the anaysis team, look at his past few games and get himself right again. So I'd bring back Hendo behind Shaq and Keita.

There's no way to give AA a position of such responsibility as DM. That aside from the fact his only forays in midfield have been at RM.

We are at home to the bottom team in the PL. If we can't play an all out attacking team here then we'll never be able to. And that means AA starts for me. Fabinho has looked excellent against weaker opposition and this one should suit him and give him a bit more confidence as well as aid his bedding in process. Face it, he's going to be part of the team going forward so play him when/where suits us best.

Fulham aren't a defence minded team so should struggle to contain us. Let's rack up a confidence boosting 7-0 goalfest. Mane and Salah with 2 apiece, Shaqiri, Firmino and Keita with the others.

No he isn't.

I'd like to see this, but would expect Gini to play again with Fabs, maybe in the double #6 concept, leaving Shaq to become a more dedicated fourth attacker.

I'd expect Naby to get a sub appearance before starting.

For me TAA needs to play himself into form - we can pull him out of the team but it isn't fitness he is lacking, it seems to be focus and confidence.

Yes, this all makes sense too.

I agree about TAA, he's been fucking useless in a few recent games, but we need him back in form, and we also need to avoid having Matip in the team at all costs.
