He's been disappointing.
Can't work out for the life of me why he wouldn't be making those diagonal runs behind defenders that Suarez and Sturridge were making all throughout last season.
There's no way Rodgers would have told him to stand still when our midfielders have the ball. He will have encouraged him to get on the move.
He has to be thick.
But thick players can be coached into doing the same thing over and over again, without thinking, if they're willing to put the effort in when training. Hope he's now got the attitude to do that.

There's been multiple times I've seen him make smart runs and not get the ball when we've been in possession. Our creativity is letting him down.
He typically receives the ball when standing up a defender or floating deep, which seems to be convincing a fair few of you that he isn't making clever runs. But he absolutely does and receives little support and service, so is forced to play an unorthodox role to contribute to the side.
Just start scoring goals, Mario.

I don't think that's going to result in an upturn in Mario's performances
Mario wasn't great tonight, but, he got kicked to bits and won about 200 free kicks (obviously part of their plan to wind him up), and, the service to him was absolutely fucking woeful as usual. Get to the final 3rd and we're clueless. I don't think there's a striker in the world apart from messi and suarez (who create their own) that would have had a good game tonight off that bollocks service.
But what about #narrative?

Don't yell at RS that he should have passed to you when you should have run into the box and stop trying to dribble past 2-3 defenders, because you can't. Not much better in the 2nd, in fact worse. So many attacks break down with him .. either offside, greedy, tried too much or just poor passing. Such a poor team player.
