I'm not in the slightest bit worried by SoSwanky

id like the club to be selfish re Sturridge , he can still offer a moment of quality that we might require should one or more of our starting 11 suffer injury or fire blanks

Problem is - I don't think he can any more, we look predictable and pedestrian when he comes in, and he detracts from our movement.

With the interchangeable nature of our first choice forwards one of our biggest assets, I'd obviously like to see us bringing in someone else to enhance and add to the forward line, but if we can't then Studge can't do that any more, and if we can get money for him we should. I don't see that Solanke and/or Ings (who deserves a chance) offer less.

Nah , hes more than capable of beating his man and opening up space, threading a ball through a deep back four or making the smart run to be on the recieving end imo. Hes still the best 80' minute sub in a stalemate that the club has, in my opinion.

Ultimately, we need better. Its mad that a team which may finish 2nd has firmino and a youth as their central options

The best sub in a stalemate? Has he even got an assist? It´s like watching a young Kevin Stewart playing as a striker.

At the very least hes providing/making in games against weaker opposition. Its not as if hes had a run of games or an opportunity to hit any form.

How are Solanke and Ings doing in comparison??????

Sturridge is not good enough for a top 4 team anymore, and hasn't been good enough for the last 2-3 years.
He makes us look pedestrian, and does not look like a part of Klopp's team.
In fact, I'm not sure he can do the job in the EPL anymore - too slow, not sharp enough and not physical enough.
I think we should let him go (for the appropriate price) ASAP for the sake of both parties.

That can not be correct? He has zero goals in EPL.

I think you talk about different players :D

He definitely has.

Arsenal header after Salah*?* whips in deadly ball for foourth goal?

Huddersfield, poor clearance, he chipped overkeeper from close range.

Cant think of others off top of my head but the original point still stands.

Yes, you are right. I was talking about Dom "Kevin Stuart" Solanke.

I hope we keep Sturridge or buy a very good striker as replacement.

If were plainly working off the rationale 'good enough for top four' then Solanke shouldbe out on loan and Ings at Stoke or whatever.

As well as firmino is currently performing , we dont have a proper goalscoring striker at the club. lord knows how bleak things would look without Salah playing like a world class forward.

In his first 8 games for LFC Ian Rush didn't score but Sir Bob persisted with him and kept picking him to start. Once he got his first there was no stopping him. I have high hopes for Solanke and have seen him look very good for the national team at youth level. He just need 6 or 7 consecutive games to get going but alas we're in a different era and can't see him getting sufficient game time at present. I would keep Ings and Sturridge* (*unless someone offers us £30m) and loan Solanke to a Premier League team on the proviso he gets picked in most games. He's not gonna improve by playing 15 minutes every 2 weeks.

Im all for supporting the young players. however solanke should never be mentioned in the same breath as Ian rush.

Solanke is more neil mellor.

If we sell or loan him out we have to buy a new striker. Ings and Solanke as back up/rotation is not good enough for a top 4 club.

Well actually, given we're 3rd and Sturridge hasn't contributed anything towards that, it is enough to be a top 4 club.

If he wants to play to win a World Cup place I think he's deluded. I know there aren't many decent English forwards but Southgate seems set on taking young players who'll stay fit. If he primarily wants to go and get his sharpness back he may as well go to Celtic, where Rodgers will know how to use him and he'll probably get a bag full of goals. If he wants to stretch himself he can either join a club in a relegation battle here or else go to Italy or Spain and try to learn the language. Frankly I can't see any of those options working out for him except the Scottish one. It's sad because when you think of how he was at his best, well, what a fine forward he was.

I think Frankie will be a very good, perhaps even great, striker, but firstly I'm not sure whether that'll be with us (the current Klopp setup isn't exactly tailor made for a striker), & secondly I'm not sure how long it'll take him to get there.

I'd like to see him loaned out next season & get serious game time under his belt.

Klopp wants him to play like firmino. Considering firmino has only just mastered the role, I'm confident big Dom will be fine

If I was Sturridge I'd be pushing for a move to Spain simply for the warmer weather which should help with injuries.

Ya but that's banking on Firmino staying fit til the end of the season.

That's a big gamble with our style.

You would be happy with only Ings and Solanke as back up to Firmino then?

No, not really. But just pointing out that we're a top 4 (3) club with what we've got right now anyway, so the situation's not that dire.

I get what you’re saying Ryan, but that form is with cout having been in the team and with Firm being fit to play almost every game. Takes one little injury for things to change and fast. I don’t want Firm replaced, but I would love some decent back
Up at least

You would be happy with only Ings and Solanke as back up to Firmino then?
The way we play ? Yes in terms of numbers. We have Salah that can move inside, Ings and Solanke .. considering how much game time those last two have had so far we certainly don't need three backups in addition to those two plus Salah. Plus it seems Woodburn won't be allowed to go out on loan and we know already Klopp won't hesitate to play him.

However in terms of ability, well HCs stats show us that even though it seems like Studge has contributed little he's actually done very well in terms of goals per min and assists per mins played and would be a more reliable option in terms of output.

I'm torn to be honest but would prioritise having him on the bench over £30m in the bank (which we won't get anyway) considering the quality of the teams we will be up against in the CL.

Just ran a quick matrix on those three, of course 20 mins for Ings is a bit pointless but still. I don't think there's any doubt that we'd be better off keeping Sturridge until the Summer. He should be seeing enough game time, to keep him in Southgate's mind, when the CL & FAC matches come around.

To argue we are doing ok simply because Firmino hasn't got injured is retarded.

It's simple if he gets injured we will love a valuable part of the team and none of the other strikers have shown enough to suggest they are anywhere ready to perform to the same level.

We have just been very lucky that he hasn't picked up a knock along the way.

If Firmino is out Salah and Manè could take a more central role with Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain moving higher up the pitch.
