    Merry Fucking Christmas to me..

Upon reflection, it was a shockingly poor attempt to put a different, positive perspective on your contract job ending, based on what you'd said about it originally. Therefore, I fully apologise for my bungling interjection, confident in the knowledge that you'll get another job soon after...

    Merry Fucking Christmas to me..

I don't want to spoil the commiseration party going on here but at one point you described your (ex) job as a permanent role then you said it was a fixed term role. It can't be both. If it was the latter, you haven't been made redundant at all, the fixed term ended. You knew it would come to...

Bob Paisley: This is Your Life

Making an appearance at 4:01, in the light grey suit, is Bob's son Robert, later known as Bob Paisley Jnr. Some years ago, I used to sit next to him at the place I then worked. He never talked openly about football but would reply when asked. He once told me that the club wasn't especially...

Who does Ze think Ze is?

We already have a gender neutral pronoun that works perfectly well; it. Perhaps the poor little snowflakes hiding in their safe spaces after a trigger warning forgot about it.

    Bournemouth - Post match

If Klopp is saying what he really thinks, that the team "stopped playing football" and that's why we lost, then it's 100% his fault. He takes all the praise when the team "play football" and win, so when the reverse happens, he has to take the blame. He 'won' this game (winning 3-1 after 75...

Poll Should safe standing come back?

Me. And whilst I remember it was brilliant at the time (I was never robbed or directly pissed on), so were many things 25 years ago that we'd look at now and dismiss absolutely. I'd like to see the modern day version introduced on a trial basis.

    Cat problem

Rather than chase them away when you see them, sneak out and blast them with a top quality water gun. In fact, I've been getting some shitty little blighter doing his business on the side of my drive recently and my dog goes mad to dig it up and eat as we pass that area when going for a walk...

This, and your 'people should pass a test before being allowed to vote' idea are both my kind of policy. You should consider standing for something.

Even though I used to live in Queen's Park, it's Derby for me too; less travel for us, more for the London teams.

Mission: Impossible (part I) City v Villa Thread.

Look at this video. Stop it at exactly 4:14 and see how we are lined up as Palace lob the ball forward. Now remember, we are only leading 3-2 here, we desperately need to win and Palace are playing with three up front. How can the manager not be going crazy on the touchline getting men back to...

Mission: Impossible (part I) City v Villa Thread.

After Goal One goes in, don't have 8 players either in or right on the edge of the Palace box for the corner that resulted in the breakaway Goal Two and especially don't have your two CB's out of place at the same time leaving your novice fullback at the impromptu centreback. After Goal Two...

How come you can see that, I can see that, most people on here can see that, but the professionals can't see that sometimes a game needs shutting down? I just can't accept a lack of experience either, especially since, as you say, numerous times this season we've gone into a blind panic after...

Don't overeact. I didn't criticise his ego, I merely introduced it to the debate as part of making a comment about this trendy idea it was naivety which cost us a win. Every manager has an ego and a philosophy. Wenger's has provided 8 barren years at Arsenal; Mourinho's seems to win things for a...

I don't accept this naivety excuse people are offering up as a reason for Monday's failure. That's just making excuses to deal with the pain, as though the manager being naive is sort of ok. There is no way on earth an ex-player turned football manager, who's spent his life in the game, who's...

One very, very, very tiny consolation of City winning tonight is that Chelsea can't win it on Sunday.

I am looking at our PL squad vs City's PL squad. It's a miracle we have got anywhere near being contenders, let alone going into the final day as potential winners.

Pre World Cup chat (take mind off things)

On balance I think the best thing for England is two opening defeats guaranteeing an exit. That'll stop all the "we can win it" nonsense and our players can get a good rest before next season. Also, Gerrard can retire from international duty to prolong his Liverpool career. Despite it tiring...

    Suspicious Neighbours....

I used to get a copy of Viz via a colleague who's brother was at Newcastle Uni. Back then it was only a local magazine in the North East with a tiny print run, so we would only get one copy and would pass it round to everyone with an interest over the course of a few weeks until a newer one...

    2014 or never

I think that our mid-term goal, by which I mean the next 2-3 years, has to be to replace Arsenal in the top four. We can hope it's Utd, but that would be a big surprise given their resources and world-wide appeal, an appeal which must sometimes influence who signs for them far more than it does...

    Suarez crying

I wouldn't be surprised if he left quite late on in the summer; a combination of waiting until after the World Cup and also waiting to see who we sign that will give him hope we'll have a better defence next season. He must be crushed right now because he gave an impossible amount to last...

    2014 or never

Frankly, right now, I think I'd take a guaranteed top four place ahead of any real challenge for a trophy next season. Sad and defeatist, maybe, but it would mean probably Arsenal or Utd missing out and that might trigger some longer term upheaval at two clubs who've been so stable for so long.
