    Poll Thiago Alcantara

Disaster feels extreme but definitely a gamble that didn’t work out. He was a fabulous player but said at the time he’s a perma injured crock. The main thing here is the opportunity cost rather than the financial outlay. Who did we not sign because we signed Thiago? We will never know but...

Where does Klopp rank against all time league greats? If at all.

I saw some stupid clip with Danny Mills (biased obvs and by the looks of thing a massive prick) where his argument was basically summarized by "1 title in 9 years". And that's what you're dealing with. Klopp clearly is one of the all time greats but let down by the fact that he's managed...

Memories fade over time and achievements are what get looked back upon. He'll go down as a great, sure, but I wonder whether he'll be cast as the yin to Guardiola's yang... Liverpool used to frame and provide context to City's greatness and achievements. A title this year would help.

He's a good option to have in the squad but we need to look for another Salah / Mane type. We need pace and goals out wide.

    Big game blues

Same thing as I said earlier in the thread (if memory serves). Lack of a killer instinct. There have been plenty of games against lesser sides with similar issues - starting off slowly, conceding multiple big chances, missing several big chances, not really getting going till the second half...

    Gakpo

There is a decent player in Gakpo. He's not shit. BUT he's a squad player for us as he's not good enough to establish himself as a nailed on starter in any of the forward positions long-term. And if a squad player whose main advertised qualities are that he's tidy and versatile can't deliver on...

I think we're going to have to be a little bit ruthless in the summer. We're pretty light in dead wood and you can make the argument that most areas of the pitch are reasonably well covered (bar CB perhaps) but we can and should be looking to improve. So one or two will need to make way...

    They don't have 100M to spend on a player so it's a bit of a non-story.

    Rafa sacked

He's had a bit of a miserable career since leaving us. The highlight maybe being the Europa League win at Chelsea but they didn't really want him there.

I hate the idea of multi-club ownership and it's going to ruin the game (even more) but if you can't beat 'em, join 'em I guess. We have some ground to make up on City who have like 10 clubs at this point.

Pre Match Sparta Prague (H) - EL - Thursday 20:00

Klopp rarely puts out a really weak team in these kind of games. We all remember that European dead rubber game that saw Jota injured, no? I suspect he'll start a stronger side than we'd all like with a view of subbing people off if / when we go a couple goals up.

    Liverpool, Wataru upto?

In some ways it's hard to judge certain players under Klopp because he just seems to get them all to find another level. Edwards and co got a lot of praise for bringing players to Anfield but it was Klopp that made them stars. Would the hit rate have been as high under another manager? Perhaps not.

    Elliot

He got a mention in the City match thread but I think he deserves his own little unsung hero / appreciation thread. His work rate against City yesterday was nuts (along with a couple others such as Diaz and Macca) and generally speaking has run himself into the ground over the last few weeks to...

    Liverpool, Wataru upto?

It's been said a million times already but he definitely seemed like a really shitty consolation prize in the summer but what a signing he's turned out to be. Took a little while to settle and has been great ever since. Macca has had some good games at DM but I think he's much better with Endo...
