Michael Edwards and Peter Moore deserve credit but they also need to be admonished for letting Emre Can go for free and the possibility of losing another £50m of assets at the end of this summer.

There were offers for Moreno and Lazar of around £12m and £7m respectively but the club stuck firm to their valuation and now looks that these players will go for nothing.

You wanted us to sell Milner?

As for Sturridge, just wait till Salah breaks his leg

Milner will probably get another extension if he wants one, and rightfully so. Moreno and Lazar can fuck off on a free, even if they were on long term contracts we wouldn't be able to sell the fuckers. As for Sturridge, god only knows, I'm half expecting him to have have a good season, sign a 200k 5yr extension, then break his spine whilst tripping over a balloon.

Nobody willing to pay anything for three of those and selling Milner would be absurd

I'm pretty sure they'll be plenty of takers for Moreno. I think we'll easily get 15-20 million for him in this market. It'd be stupid not to extend his contract.

Markovic is quite another story. No market for him for the last 3 years, and I doubt there'll be many clubs clamouring to sign him on a free either.

All big clubs lose players on a free.

The bigger the club, the more likely the bigger the estimated losses.

There's a fine line between making what you can from a player before his contract runs out, & selling too cheaply though. If we constantly held firesales of players who got close to the end of their contracts we'd struggle to recoup decent figures eventually, & it could arguably cost us more.

Whatever your opinion on our owners, no one can argue that they aren't shrewd businessmen, & if you think they're just idly sitting by & ignoring these contracts & players running down, & haven't looked at the bigger picture before accepting any losses, then I think you're badly mistaken.

We've clearly been trying to give away Markovic for the last few seasons but I'm guessing he wants to sit on his fat contract till it runs out.

Players at Milner's age you're always going to take a hit on because you keep them on short-term contracts.

Sturridge fucked us by getting injured last year. Had he have stayed fit and had a decent 6 months, there may have been a decent offer for both sides. Now it's in Sturridge's interest to hold out till he's on a free.

Moreno is the only one you can make an argument for if we (hopefully) lose him on a free.

I expect Milner to get a role in the club immediately around coaching either youngsters first on professionalism, athleticism, preparation etc.

I hope Milner will get a 2 year extension. Sturridge, should have been sold the year before.

What's annoying is that we got Sturridge into some form by giving him a managed set of minutes over pre season and haven't given him anything of note since. I now expect that when we start him in the cup he'll look rusty as hell.

We don't need his form, we just need him to come on late against tired defenders, where he doesn't need to exert himself to anything more than a gentle jog in order to find some space and finish. What you propose would involve him running, a lot, and possibly lose his life as a result.

What I propose is him having a solid first touch, good instincts of where to move and ultimately being able to find the net in the one chance he might get per 5-10 min appearance.

Me too. Haven't seen a post here at all. Is he even playing?

I'm only sort of certain it was Juventus he signed for.
