"it's almost worth hoping we lose". Where have I heard that before?

It's a rubbish report, because even we're not that fucking stupid to put pressure on with such a dumb ultimatum. This is the bit where the press jump on a manager to hope there's a story, he loses a few games and the pressure mounts in the media, until they get to say they reported it first, when he does eventually go.

If the club has any ideas about heading into the season and just seeing how things go before pulling the plug as form gets out of hand, then they may as well do it now, because after booting his staff, paying for new ones to come in and giving Rodgers a wad to spend, they'll look like hapless cunts either way.

So if Rodgers does go, I hope the pressure mounts on them too, because their flawed American business bred philosophies haven't translated to English football either and have arguably undermined his tenure, as much as Rodgers has allegedly undermined their transfer committee.

Pay the bills, run the commercial side and make your money. Let the next manager do the buying and put his own ideas in place. Don't treat him like a dickhead with some stupid stunt over how we buy the players, offering a DoF and then implementing a "committee" of half-wits, after the original idea was rejected.

I mean, if you don't want to work under one person who oversees transfers, why would you want to work alongside four?

At least Rodgers is a relative rookie in a managerial sense. What's their excuse? They've been at the top end of the sports business for the best part of 15 years, Henry's been taking business clients on for the best part of 35 years. It's not a fucking Walmart where you implement a committee to oversee spending and the use of resources, it's a football team they have not one iota of an idea of how to run in a hands-on sense. Stay the fuck out of it, do your homework on your staff or at least employ someone who knows what the fuck they are looking for and then bring in that guy and back him and let him find his own identity, instead of muddying the waters with half-baked Americanisms that just don't fucking apply.

The problem is FSG arn't up to it yet (Will they ever be?) & Rodgers isnt the one. Let's hope they proove us all wrong.
But somehow I dont think they will.

The question is. Why has it come down to Genuine fans hoping we will loose?
I dont recall this happening before.

Klopp being linked to Chelsea could have something to do with it. IMO FSG want Klopp and will sack Rodgers as soon as Klopp decides to end his holiday and agree to a move. They won't risk losing him to Chelsea.

So to clarify you would like us to lose 3 games so the manager is sacked rather than the manger win three games and sort his shit out.

Tragic.
No I never meant it in that light, I want us to win.. But I'd like him replaced with a winner, because we have seen enough to suggest he isn't..

History tells us he will need more than 3 games to get his shit together anyway

As things stand FSG won't sack him anyway.. So here is hoping he does, before the performances on the field gets beyond embarrassing..

If they were going to get rid they should of done so at the end of last season. They should now stick with the decision they made just a few weeks ago and give him a fair chance to prove whether he's the right man for the job or not.
That's a very balanced viewpoint

I would normally say all this sword of Damocles stuff from Twitter and TalkShite was bollocks - The situation we could have here is a bit different - with a potential replacement wanting a few months sabbatical. They needed someone to steward the close season and start the season so keeping Rodgers makes sense. Pulling the rug from under him by sacking Pascoe was , in my opinion , the real indication

Good to see you back, Vlad.

One advantage of keeping Rodgers for the season would be that Ancelotti may be available again next summer, and I'd prefer him to Klopp any day. Regrettably FSG's preference for a young manager may mean they wouldn't consider Ancelotti. I believe that would be a serious mistake.

Well, most of the time anyway. ;)

I've never been on the younger manager bandwagon, even long before FSG arrived when some on here were touting the likes of Villas Boas [shudder]. For me the Liverpool job is still one which demands experience and stature, perhaps even more so now that we're not at the very top level like we once were. If we must fetch a younger guy in, Klopp clearly (a) has a lot of talent and (b) was gagging for the Liverpool job when he left Dortmund - witness all those leaks in the German media at the time - but I'd still be a sight happier with Ancelotti in the driving-seat during yet more upheaval.

Speaking of old blokes talking sense, Redknapps article in the Mail today is very Damning of Rodgers Liverpool.

Labeling the team the worst Liverpool side he has seen in years.. Bang Average.. Lucky to have any points... Gomez is never a left back and the side looks very unbalanced..

Have to say.. Given our displays so far, bar the first half against Arsenal.. I have to agree with him...

Jono, it's amazing that we've not heard from you and then after one defeat you're back with your Baldrick-isms. I mean, the cynic in me says you love this shit. You spent from last October telling us that he had X amount of time to sort it out, then it was till Xmas, then he went on a run and you kept telling us that as soon as we got beat we should boot him, etc. Now you're saying (again) that you want us to lose games for the greater good. Whatever that is - probably a German coach who will be on a similar hiding to nothing in a short space of time.

So what gives? You want him replaced by a winner. Klopp has won stuff, he's also suffered indifferent spells to his career, bought poorly and lost top players. It's not really the bed of roses alot of people are hoping it would be, he's a great option/prospect, but he's not a ready made title winner. There could be a massive need for time, patience and indulgence, which I'm not sure you actually have in you.

I get the feeling that you think it's easy to go out and get someone who will challenge from the off, but building a side can take time, building a consistently successful one takes patience, everyone pulling in the same direction and ideals to be instilled steadily. If 12 months to 2 years down the line, we're in pretty much the same positions, flitting between 4th-7th, are you really telling me you'll be the one saying we'll get there is we stick with it? Or will be subject to months and months of more less than reasoned threads about deadlines and shit?

The Redknapp who planned to appoint Rodgers as his coach when he became England manager. Good work as per, Arry!

Seriously, did you also read the responses he's had? He posted a week earlier that he sees us in 5th position but that we can break into the top four, he made a total dick of himself and he's had the piss taken out of him because of it.

Listen, when 10 time Premier League winning Harry Redknapp (unlucky not to win big ears a few times) destroys your team like that in a national publication, you sit up and take notice.
Lol...

To be fair.. I always have time for Harry, he can talk sense..

I felt he was unfairly treated at Spurs, He got them performing at the highest level they had ever been at for years. Had the playing great football too..

However he has take part of the blame for his demise, due behaving like he had the England job..

From the Echo about 'Arry's article:

And so, in the interests of balance, here’s an alternative, more considered view on Liverpool, from a week or so ago, posted on the Kicca website.

“Liverpool played much better against Arsenal than they did against Bournemouth. They’ll be pushing for the top four, but at the moment you think they’ll finish fifth or sixth. It’s not impossible for them to break into the top four this year – but it won’t be easy.”

See, that’s a much more sensible appraisal, isn’t it? Who said that, then?

We’ll give you three guesses...

It's his dog I feel sorry for.

He also said in this article the same..

5th or 6th maybe. Having said that (jokingly) they will probably go on and win the League..

Gotta love the fact that harry 'car window' Redknapp chooses Gomez to single out. Out of every player on the pitch he's probably had the least poor minutes on the pitch this season.

I bet his missus has to serve him his dinner through the car window, as if he's at a drive-by fast food site. The man is lost without a football club. He's got new knees and nowhere to use them. Life's so cruel.

To be fair Gomez was bad against West Ham and is never a left back, he is right footed for a start... I was calling for him to be taken off against West Ham he had a bad game.. I agree with him on that...

It nice and all seeing young players coming through, and it has been refreshing.. but I cannot see him being the answer for the short term..

He is the first player any opposition will look to Target.. because he lacks the experince required in that position.. Though he would be excellant to have as a bench option

Our most natural left back at the club is Enrique.. We should get him fit and look at bringing him back into the side.

How is flannagan these days? How far is he off from being fully fit and available for selection?

You're talking about Flanno ... who is also right footed, and was fine for us for long stretches when we finished 2nd.

But he's a centre back by trade. Using that logic you'd play him at centre back, & there's no way you'd put a kid that age in at CB. Using the logic that he's inexperienced & will be targeted means you'd never bring any young players in.

Also, it's very common to bring right footed players in on the left hand side & vice versa, as it teaches them how to position themselves & use their weaker foot more often, which is invaluable long term.

The lack of support in front of him is a much bigger problem (this was the problem in the West Ham match) & brings into light Rodgers lack of foresight & inability to see in match problems more succinctly imo, not the lad himself, who has performed admirably.
