If we do not - then we will win fuck all. Our squad is thin and our problems are unique to the extent that in the last 25 years none of our managers have dealt with them properly because of pure .. stubbornness. Each title challenge requires that you have something about you that allows you to overcome the weaker teams when they are fighting for their lives either through exceptional world class talent or have one or two individuals that no one can fight. Our problem as I see it right now - is not actually the defense - but it is all up front. Yes we have scored loads of goals and they have come from everywhere but in all honesty the thing or person we lack is the guy with above average skill and some strong fight in them, that will cause defenders problems with some physicality. I am not talking about the likes of Mane, or Sturridge - who require skill to do their stuff, but someone kind of like with a physical presence that will just take on the defenders and stand their fucking ground against the lesser shits of the league.
We really do need to sign someone this January window to cover for Mane and Sturridge, and also because some of our players look fucked, and its showing with these wayward passes that should be easy to do.

Didn't we have Tekkers for this? Regarding your wayward passes and we looked fucked statement, perhaps this was because we played twice in three days. Having said that, I would ideally like us to sign someone in January. Perhaps a striker nod midfielder. With couts coming back I'd like us to sign another pacey forward and also a DM type. We have enough cover in defence I think, especially with Gomez coming back in and Matip returning (although that may be undone by FIFA)

Gomez hasn't played in 18 months he'll be fuck all cover this season.
Having someone that could play on the flanks in a 442 would be a handy option. Currently we only have Milner who would look comfortable there.

It's not the sake of a few weeks though is it ? It's for the sake of CL football or even the title because 1 or more points lost before Mane returns (or others from injury) could make the difference.
We should have had reinforcements coming in first week of January. Wenger twice lost titles to the Mancs by not strengthening in January and then getting hit by injuries to key players.

I assume we budget annually and spend what we've got in the Summer to get the best squad we can recruit for the season. The winter window is not a good time to do business and is mostly used for teams with new managers to rectify mistakes made by the previous manager.

Why do you think we spent what we had in the summer?
As for January, I get all the tediously repetitive shite about how it's a dreadful time to make signings, but it's a load of fucking horseshit. You either buy well, or you don't.
We've made some dreadful signings in January, just like in EVERY transfer window, summer included. But we've also bought brilliantly in January: Coutinho, Sturridge, Suarez, Mascherano and Agger.
Whatever month it is, we desperately need one or two new players. That much is obvious.
Because we didn't buy a LB.
I'm expecting nothing 'exciting' in this window. Maybe a pre-signing for the summer like Matip or losing Lucas but other than that I imagine we are set

We're talking about a maximum of 4 league games without Mane. It could be as little as 2 league games.
Of course your first point is absolutely true however if we miss out on CL football that impacts both the quality of the players we can attract and puts far less cash in our pockets as well as impacting on the desire of ambitious players already at our club to stay with us despite another season without CL football. There could be far reaching consequences if we fail this season.
We are in a strong position and need to go all out - the title has not gone completely and CL football is absolutely within reach. Don't fuck it up for sake of a few millions more. Speculate to accumulate.
I don't disagree in principal - just not sure whatever we need is available to us at this point.
The flip side is also that the team seems to have developed a very strong spirit - working well for each other.
New players often take time to settle in & are as likely to have a negative impact as positive.
I'm erring towards using the crop of seemingly good kids coming through to bolster our squad, unless someone who genuinely could hold down a first team place suddenly becomes available.
I suspect, any incoming transfers will be kids and not likely to be first team material this season.
I've probably never been less bothered whether we sign someone or not in this window. Klopp isn't someone who would drop a new body into the squad and play them every week anyway. Gomez and Coutinho will be like new signings and we may even see more of AA, Ejaria and perhaps Grujic in coming weeks. Obviously if a worldie or a top class young player was available I'd love us to sign them, but if it is to bolster the squad with players who aren't top quality then I'd pass.
Not directed just @ you Froggy but JESUS, it's january. Not bloody April. Will people stop gifting chelsea the title because they are on a good run. Do it in Late March or April. Until then, they're one Hazard sloppy moment, or Sideshow Bob minute away from a dropping of the points.
