Barcelona have officially extended their sponsorship agreement with Nike – and Mundo Deportivo claims it is the most lucrative in football history.

Barca announced the news on their official website in the early hours of Friday morning, and the newspaper reports a 10-year deal has been struck, which could earn the club as much as €155m each season.

“Through this new agreement with NIKE we are extending a strategic alliance for the Club, while also reinforcing our global position, hand in hand with the leading global sports brand,” President Josep Maria Bartomeu told the club’s official website.

“We are excited by this new agreement and are confident that we’ll be able to celebrate continued sporting successes together.”
However, that sum will not come into force until the 2017-18 campaign, with the Catalans expected to pocket ‘just’ €105m next term – still more than the €96m earned by Manchester United.

It is believed that the significant increase in sponsorship revenue stemmed from Barca regaining their license to brand products which are not replica shirts.
The Spanish champions are expected to don a similar strip to the one they wore in the 1991-92 season, when they won their first European cup.

Who knows? Barcelona no longer need the money but it is still up to the player himself. Suarez is the type of player that need a challenge. He will IMO leave Barcelona when he won everything there and he has now done that if you don't count the prize as the best player in the world of course.

This is precisely why I will never buy Nike products.
Probably close to 50% of the price of anything goes to paying the likes of Barcelona.

OK Arn. I'll bite.
What do you really truly believe is the probability of Suárez returning to Liverpool this transfer period? 0.1? 0.5? 1?
Me - I think the probability is close to zero.
I want to see just how much crack you've been smoking.

Barcelona don't need the money? How else are they meant to pay their huge wage bill? Yes they take a huge chunk of the la liga rights but not enough to pay the players.
