Rodgers should have dropped Sterling & Coutinho more often so as Markovic could have looked a bit better and developed faster.

I'd imagine we'd be hard pressed to sign players of better quality off the bat, sure We could buy more Lazars and Cans but that didn't work out as we wanted this season.

Noone hates Benteke or Milner. Milner will be a suseful addition, but we have a midfield that cant protect the defence, never scores a goal and is basicly to slow and too soft. Milner can help out there, but we need better and more. Benteke is probably decent for a midtable team, while those chasing top four aims for Benzema and those type of players.
Milner would instantly improve us, Benteke would too but at too heavy a cost in terms of price and suitability. As for the big teams not buying him, errr City just bought Bony, Chelsea signed Remy. Two similar profile players. I still wouldn't have him as a top choice, mind.
Champions League and all that comes with it is the big pull. It's no surprise these sides are also more likely to be able to hold onto their better players than we are.

Only until Sturridge is fit. Striker options of Sturridge, Benteke, Origi and Ings are way better than now, the problem for us is that Rodgers won't have the first fucking idea of what to do with them

That article reads like a giant guess to me. I reckon the fellas being fed some bull to throw him off the scent. Letting the status quo reign with the possible addition of a couple of mid-ranking names seems almost negligent. Coasting at best.
What's so wrong or unusual about that? I've come around to Rodgers just not fitting into our current set-up and therefore if there is no change upstairs or backstairs then yes, he has to go. But why not give him the full rein the vast majority of the most successful managers have and then judge him based on how he handles it?

If so, who will decide on the appointment? If its FSG, wouldn't it be a bit awkward - in terms of whether the addition can blend in with the current coaching team? Should he be somebody with managerial experience/ambitions, will Rodgers see him as a threat?

The possible Benteke signing reminds me of when we got Dean Saunders. Decent player but not at all suited to our style of play.
I keep reading about this much vaunted style of play. Last season we finished 6th, won nothing and suffered a good few humpings along the way. I put it to you that our style of play isn't working and we might want to adapt it. And before anyone mentions our style of play in 2013/14 just remember that was all down to Suarez and Studridge and had absolutely fuck all to do with the manager. Apparently.
I meant a possession based style of play which we try to do (not very well though) whereas Benteke's best form for Villa has been when they've played on the counter attack. This is harder for us to play as we tend to arse about with the ball for five minutes with the centre halves by which time the other team has everyone behind the ball.
I made the comparison with Dean Saunders as he preferred the ball played in front of him rather than into his feet much like Benteke.
Exactly...so change the style!
Don't tell me tell Rodgers! He had ample opportunity to change our style of play this season to accommodate the strikers we had available and he didn't bother his arse so i don't see why he's going to change anytime soon.
