Barrett: latest on Rodgers and transfers

Ah right, paying 13m seems a bit excessive, however it can easily be argued for that you're getting a player who's value will only be higher.

Even if he flops at spurs/us then cos he's English you'll get more than your money back, so in essence it's still a win-win.

As mentioned though, it does suggest they're not confident he'll choose them over us.

The compsenation is a combination of players potential and of greater significance the players current salary, hence teh figure of 3/5 million is being discussed.

If his compensation fee is 13mill, and he's a free agent, then he's going to want quite a few million quid for a signing on fee. Add onto that about 60, 70, 80grand a week for 5yrs, and it's starting to look more like 30 or 40million quid to get Ings in.

Paying 5m for Ings is bad enough, 13m would be a total joke. I hope spurs get him.

5m for ings is absolutely fine by me, provided no fucker in charge thinks we don't need another top striker & simply sees him as a better player than Lambert or Borini to have as an option.

How is Bentekkers a different type of player to Ballertelli or Andy Carroll....better attitude may be but Rodgers has proved clearly that he is not able to work with this kind of forwards. He needs a Dirk Kuyt with skill and pace...the kind of forward any manager would like to work with regardless of systems.

Oh and the fan base in forums knows jackshit. I think two months back we were all laughing at the mancs and looking at their forums for cheap thrills, now all of a sudden they feel violated at the shittyness of Rodgers.

Its the right decision to keep him this term.

Once the main stand work etc is done we will be in a position of strength to make a change like this if required. Big decisions needs to be taken from a position of strength not out of desperation. This is trading101 in the financial markets...im not surprised that FSGhave taken this kind of decision given their background.

Besides I think Rodgers has done just about enough to see what he is about for one more season.

Benteke is nothing like Carroll and Balotelli just because he is tall and can head the ball.

He is quick and has shown he is very good at pressing our defenders. He also has quick feet in the box and able to get off shots in tight spaces. He is not a lump it up target forward.

He is not Suarez either, but I think he is quite capable of playing in our supposed system.

I think the price is inflated, but not against the player.

Well said that man.

Im still astounded at your comment on the 1st page, and I cant believe no-one has pulled you up on it.

"I really feel completely gutted. I was like a kid on Xmas morning when we got beaten 6-1 by Stoke. What a fucking comedown"

Made up we got fucking beat 6-1? Odd thing for a Liverpool supporter to say.

I agree but people get very shirty about having their true allegiance questioned. It was a ridiculous comment and not one I can remotely relate to.

Selling Markovic is madness, he's going to be a star.

Would make absolutely no sense to sell him now.

A. He was bought for 20 million and no one will pay close to that for him this summer, why would we take a loss after one season?
B. He was supposed to be a player for the future, the fact that he wasn't a world beater in his first season isn't a surprise...why panic now?
C. Pantene was played out of position most of the season, how about a run in the team at his natural position before running him off?

The list of strikers and attackers who are very good at pressing our defenders is a decently long list. Considering the way we defended towards the end of the season, most championship and league 1 strikers will look good.

As for the price is inflated, that is precisely the problem. It will be 30 million before Villa agree to sell. Why overpay?

Marca are apparently reporting that we've "made contact with" Ancelotti.

Please let this be true.

[article=http://www.marca.com/en/2015/05/27/en/football/international_football/1432716166.html]Milan are not the only ones interested in employing Carlo Ancelotti, whose prestige remains largely intact.

The calls keep coming in, Liverpool being the latest to try their luck. Before that, West Ham dropped the Italian a line, after having first sounded out Rafa Benítez.

For now, Ancelotti is convinced that what is best for him is to take a break from managing for a year. Liverpool may be the only club capable of changing his mind.[/article]

I know where you're coming from but I'm afraid I can't agree. Even long-term the club cannot benefit from a 6-1 humping off Stoke.

I also know where you're coming from, but I don't see how you can possibly think that last point is true. Surely it's unquestionable that a passing embarrassment can cause less harm than, say, having a bad manager for a year. Even if you don't agree with those particular consequences, I don't see how you can deny the possibility of them.
