I know he's had his problems but we need a striker still.
We should be able to get him and definitely a place for him in the squad. We offer far more threat with two strikers and Mario needs someone else along side him.
He seems to have movement, pace and able to work the channels. Should we consider a bid in the next window?

Why should we buy everyone who gave us a fright?

Cue Crouch, Adam, Downing, and our record signing who was out for half of most seasons.

He's started the season well, but at the moment this is just a purple patch in an otherwise unspectacular career. It's far too early to be talking about him as an option for us.
He's not exactly a 29 yr old journeyman. How many others young strikers out there are better?

That wasn't what the posted was about, he's been playing pretty well for 2 yrs, have you not noticed?
Just thought an interesting option, there seems to be lack striking options at the moment.

This is completely different to those players though.
Berahinho is a 21 year old kid who will have his breakthrough season this year.
Pacey, good movement and can finish with both feet. What has impressed me when I've seen him play is the calmness he has with the ball.
Looking at the goals he has scored he can finish from any angle and is decent in the air aswell given he's 5'11 or something.

He'd be very suited to how we play. He's English and will be a very good player so he'll cost a shitload.

Can we please stop making threads of suggesting us to buy every single average joe after every decent game they've had against us ?

Have we not had enough of the Charlie Adams, Stewart Downings and Paul Koncheskys ?

Think he could be a good fit as a real alternative to Studge, problem would be English tax. They'll probably want £20m plus for him.

He hasn't even had a good full season yet FFS. He's had a good six games.

I'm not saying he won't, but we've seen plenty of players have a full season looking like a Brazilian superstar then end up in division three the rest of their career.

Is he better than Origi, Ibe etc? I highly doubt it, we need to work with the talents that are already with this and help them reach a higher level. Constantly looking at average squad fillers like Berahino is not going to help.

I agree.

I have to admit that I only saw him a few times, but was impressed every time.
He was great at OT last season.
He tore Burnley apart last week.
He was good yesterday against us.

I think he'd be a great player - he'll soon be Sturridge's partner for England (or Welbeck's when Sturridge is injured).
He's surely worth a chance with us, and the sooner we sign him the better, as I can see his price rising.

In the glory days we made more than one of our signings shortly after good performances against us by the players involved for their previous clubs.

Just sayin'.

Origi will be a beast for us. There are question marks over Balotelli and Lambert, so a move for Behrainho could be good in the future.

From the little I've seen from him, he already looked better than Balotelli.
But then gain, I've never been a fan of Mario, so I hope to be proven wrong.

I think we need squad fillers where there are gaps in the squad, and a backup to Sturridge is undoubtedly a gap in ours.

I don't think it's what we were planning but it looks like we'd be better playing two up for the forseeable future, and in that case even with Origi coming in we're a man short.

Someone like Berahino would be a good fit, in his case it really just depends on the price.

We've done the same in recent years and that's much easier to recall than the glory days.

Either way it shouldn't matter too much whether a player has a stormer against us. He needs to be the right player.

Is this guy the right player? I would say the more pertinent question is whether he's worth the money West Brom will ask for. I'm going to venture a no on that front.

@keniget - are the players we've signed this summer worth the money we paid for them?

The transfer market has gone crazy, so the money quoted for players are ridiculously high. You also have to take into account the salary they demand, as in a 4-5 year contract this might be a heavy weight factor on the total deal.
To get good value for money you need to have a great scouting team as well as feeding clubs around the globe (South America, and Portugal as a gateway to SA would be a great start).

Playing well gainst us is one thing but they must be able to play better against other teams. After all pallets are to be signed to play against other teams not against us.

:p

No, nothing to do with that. Didn't just suddenly appear out of the ground for the first time in his life at Anfield.

I'm looking for a load of pallets for bonfire night

Onions: part of the problem may be that some commentators have taken to pronouncing his name "Beraheen-yo". I dread to think what David Pleat would make of it.

Time well tell ultimately, but so far the answer is for some were worth it, others not so much.

The market is a bit nuts at the moment but there are still a lot of reasonable deals to be had. A sure fire way to pay the absolute maximum for a player though is to shop in the worlds richest league though.

To get good value for money you need to get players in before they blow up and then ensure they still go onto do that. Very tricky for a club like us - Chelsea have it easy because they just hoover up top tier talent for millions whilst still having plenty of change left over to conduct whatever business is necessary for the here and now.

We're often in a position of having to go after riskier prospects and the whole thing then becomes much more difficult because they're potentially less ready to play and learn on the job and there are less appealing loan options on the table so leaves us in a bit of a quandary as to how to ensure they develop. We need to improve on that front.

As for Behrahino, I haven't seen enough of him to know whether he's worth serious investment or not. I didn't see anything in his performance the other day that we couldn't get for 10-15M elsewhere0 though.

I guess time will tell whether Behrahino is a worthy investment or not.
My gut feeling is that he is going to be a very good player. I've only seen him a few times, but from what I saw, I think that he can develope into a top tier player.
But then, it's not my money that has to be invested in him (although I sure have interest as I'm a supporter of LFC...).
