.... but only as a 'Plan B' option...

[article="http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/690565/Liverpool-Transfer-News-Gossip-Rumours-Lucas-Leiva-Galatasaray-2-5million-Offfer"]GALATASARAY are reportedly preparing a £2.5million bid for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.

Lucas is being been lined up by the Turkish club should a deal for Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra fall through.

Diarra has an agreement in place with Marseille allowing him to leave the club this summer, despite being under contract until 2019.

"I am free, I do not want not enter into a war with Marseille, and I think we will not get there. I hope they keep their word," Diarra told French publication L'Equipe in May.

However, Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim Galatasaray are concerned the deal may not go ahead and have got the ball rolling on a 'plan B' move for Lucas

The report says Gala's chairman Unal Aysal has called in the help of goalkeeping coach and Braziil legend Claudio Taffarel to work on the deal.

Taffarel won the 1994 World Cup and Gala reportedly hope he can sway Lucas, along with the promise of more regular first-team football.

Lucas made just 27 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season and is currently behind an ever-increasing list of central midfielders at the club.

In addition to new signing Marko Grujic, Jurgen Klopp also has Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Joe Allen who he can deploy in a holding role next season[/article]

I find it very strange that Skrtel that was part of the same title drought isn't blamed for it but Lucas is.

If he leaves, he leaves. If Klopp want to replace him then I am 100% behind him.

I will love Liverpool FC until I die. I respect players, not love them even if it was close when it comes down to Suarez the best player that ever played in the English league.

27 out of 38 PL games isn't that bad.

I wouldn't even care if we sold Can or Coutinho. Life goes on and the club will continue to exist. Ticket prices is more important than any player. It is much more important that everyone can afford to buy a ticket.

Would of course be funny if he stayed. Many members would be pissed off and he would get a testimonial.

A testimonial for Lucas, that would be something.

if you had of told me in the 1980's we'd have three Brazilians in our first team, and no Irish,or Scots in the team, I would have thought the title was over by Christmas every year and assuming we'd be on title number 40 by now.

Yeah - but Brazil is shit these days and having three these days can quite easily guarantee relegation. If currently the best they can produce is Neymer then all I can say is he is the best of the shittest Brazilian players in their recent history.

I know we want to get rid of him badly - but could we not use him as a utility defender type or something ?

Lucas played in 28 PL games last season and 40 in all competitions but he wasn't a starting XI player and won't be that this season. He is now a squad player. He was maybe the key player for us last season and by that I mean that he allowed other more important players to get some rest.

We don't need that type of squad players this season because we won't play in the CL/EL. We need players that can make an impact. Lucas isn't that type of player. He is one of the best players you can have if you need to rest players.

If Klopp had any plans to use him as a central defender then we wouldn't be signing Klavan. Lucas will be sold most probably to Newcastle as part of the Wijnaldum deal.

I doubt that Lucas want to stay. He want to play. He love the club but he can't sit on the bench week in week out at this stage of his career. He need to play games.

That's very Ivan Drago of you.

Definition of key player: one who allows other peripheral players to have a rest game once in a while.

WTF

I know buddy, it was inferred.

Could it happen? I'm mean, could it really?
We've been let down before.

Galatasaray have opened negotiations with Liverpool over a potential £2.5m deal for Lucas Leiva. #lfc (David Maddock - Mirror)

How is Lucas only worth £2.5m when Allen is going for 5 times that amount.

I know , lucas is shit blah blah but he's not that shit , surely a prem club would pah closer to £10m ??

Maybe Lucas want out and we have agreed to let him go on the cheap because he played for the club a long time.
