Bony is boss

I've robbed this saying and now use it regularly.

At least you admit to it Daveed. Every other cunt on here shamelessly steals my shit, and then try to fob it off as their own a month or so later.

Then everyone complains that there not good enough or PL proven. It is really a lose-lose situation, unless we buy the 5-8 players in the world that all agree are top tier.

I can't actually remember when the club purchased one of those players. Torres was not yet in camp. Neither was Suarez. Going further back, I still struggle.

Morientes

People don't fancy Bony cos he's not fuckin Chilean and doesn't have a nifty step over.

The fucker scored 25 goals last season. 25 goals. In a makeshift side. What else would you have liked him to do?

I'm all for anyone who can score 25 goals.

Having a name like Wilfried doesn't help. Not exotic enough.

One thing about him too - he's not bad with the ball at his feet (not Suarez or even Studge, but he's fine) and he's built like a tank, and plays like one. If we have him or Studge with our midfielders buzzing around him, we'll be fine next year.

How on earth are we going to accommodate him, Sturridge and Lambert? We don't need him, it's a stupid transfer and a massive waste of money. I like Bony, he's a likeable player, and pretty good, but he'd be the perfect signing for Everton, not for us, we have an infinitely better striker in Sturridge and one at least on par in Lambert, and there's no way all three will play. that's is my main Bony of contention with this deal.

IF he plays the diamond again, we've obviously got 2 up top, and 2 reserves, which if fine. But if he goes back to 1 up top, probably Sturridge on his own, then having 3 backup strikers is a bit much. I'm not sure how lambert, bony, borini play when sort of pushed out wider, as that's where they'd be playing in a non-diamond. Sturridge can play out there, but as he's now our main man, he'll want to play up top every week.

Booooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mirror come up with a worse one though

Tis a squad game Mystic.
It is, but our squad is massively lacking a special player now, I'm not saying we need to replace Suarez like for like, but we need a special player, we need a Di Maria, Sanchez, Rues, Griezmann, Draxlar, Shaqiri, you name them. If we didn't have Lambert and were also getting one of these players, then fine, but it doesn't seem like we are. Bony is not good enough, and we'll have the reverse problem of last season, a great squad with an average first eleven.

Just to clarify, my problem isn't with Bony, I think he's a good player, my problem is the fact we're buying someone we don't need.

I'm hoping we buy a special player too. Loads of time. Suarez hasn't officially left yet. I'd say we are waiting to tie up some deals.

I love the idea of Bony and because Cloggy loves him. 'Bony Is Boss' has been a blurb on here for ages but, but.... I dunno if I want to shell out for him. I think I got it in my head that I wanted a shit hot top tier player, who ever that might be. If he comes, I'll support the hell out of him obviously. I haven't watched those video yet but they seem to be generating a bit of a buzz.

You should watch them, if just to help you see why cloggy is jizzing all over him. :D Okay, he's not Suarez, but I think he's not a bad catch.

Just using this thread to pen some thoughts. Excuse the diarrhoea here.

For those concerned that we're buying another Lambert for a lot more money - remember Lambert is 32 and came with a 2-year contract and he'll eventually retire at the club. Bony is 25, so he'll be with us longer (if he does well), or have (as much as I dread using the term) "resale" value after a couple of seasons. If he does well enough, the sums could work out to be not too significantly different.

Is it a problem having two strikers who are similar? I don't see why it has to be. If we have 3 or 4 strikers, it doesn't mean each one has to be significantly different than the other. Who knows what Rodgers has in mind? Maybe he plans to stick with 2 up front, which means Sturridge / Sterling (I really think this will work!) + Lambert / Bony. Can this work? We'll see! I'm not sure it won't though; remember Sturridge has now had a season of playing with a partner up front and that didn't work out too badly, albeit with a different class of partner.

Two strikers was the norm in football for a long time, so why do we have to imagine that modern day strikers can't play with each other? If anything, we reminded the league last season that it's actually pretty cool.

I'm sorry but a Top 4 club needs more than 2 strikers never mind a PL title winning club (Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo, Jovetic) also playing in the CL (if they have any intention of trying to win the damn thing) !

What makes you think Bony, who scored 25 goals for a very average Swansea side last season is nothing more than mid-table level? Sounds like a lazy dig tbh.

Because he's not very quick and his game is limited. He can't play across the front 3 so our interchanging would be limited with him. Hence why he's not good enough for our fluid style of play. There's no lazy dig, i've nothing against the guy personally. He's got a good shot on him i'll give him that.

It's a bit harsh on his overall contribution

He's not lightning
His passing range isn't amazing
His finishing is not excellent
He's not as versatile as others

But

He's quick enough
His passing range is as good as Sturridge
His finishing is very good
He's strong
He's a tricky cunt too, did you SEE his elastico??
And as for versatility, you don't get players below 50m who are comfortable across the front 3.

But he's too similar in style to what we already have. We need someone different hence why i agree with what @Mystic was saying.

Not as convinced. If Sturridge is injured for a while again, who steps up? Lambert is good player but he's a different style of forward than Sturridge, meaning that we have to change how we play. Could cause issues.

We need another striker, and with Borini off for 8-10 mill and Aspas for 4-5 mill. We're paying 5-7 mill to upgrade to Bony...

We've got money to buy a special player awell. I'm hoping for Di Maria.

Possibly, but when spending £20million, I'd like that player to be an improvement on what we have or full of potential, I don't think Bony is either.
