He won't get on the fucking bench.
Bit OTT there like.
An injury/suspension to two will see him on the bench/pitch.
I'm sure that his thinking and he's allowed stay and fight for that opportunity. He left Roma to come to us and try make his name at this club. I can understand him not going to go back to Sunderland or to QPR. He'll get a move to Italy in Jan on loan id say. It will cost us a few million alright but I'm not going to wish injury and hell on the player.
It's not revisionism. Henderson had had one poor year in a struggling side being played out of position, after being signed as a 20 year old of great promise for a huge fee. It was silly to try to palm him off so readily, especially for such a low fee. Anyone could see the potential for him to turn things round. There was no great clamour from the fans for him to make that move.
What IS revisionism is to imply that there was.
Is that why you hate him so much? It's like looking in a sexy Italian mirror?
Oh I don't think there should be any doubt about his character! He's clearly as hard as fucking nails.
I don't like that he dared to defy the club. I think he needs to be taught a fucking lesson for that.
I wanted Borini sold for that fee. The fact he turned it down doesn't make him a massive cunt or want me to wish injury on him.
Henderson MIGHT have developed. He looked like he had zero creativity with more sideways passes than Allen. A bit of belief by Rodgers and a good work ethic have got him where he is now. There wasn't a clamour for him to leave, but there's hardly been a clamour for Borini to go.
Situations are similar. Player told he's not needed by the club, but he refuses to move.
The only difference is we didn't have the players to stop Henderson playing, whereas Borini has a massive job to get in the squad.
I don't get why self belief is such a negative trait?

I just don't buy that the situations are similar.
For one, as you say, there was very little blocking Henderson's path to the team. It was reasonable to stay. I'd go so far to say that it was *unreasonable* on our part to discard him so early.
Two, he was still only 21, and had always been a player of great promise. Borini isn't and never has been.
Three, the manager never made it clear to Henderson that he wouldn't have a chance. This is where Borini really baffles me. It's almost like he's just being stubborn for the sake of it. Witness the tweets.
And when we put our foot down and say, you are under contract here, you are staying, it's refreshing, but if a player wants to do the same...

I don't tend to hate players for wanting away. I've always defended or at least not shared in the vituperation of players like Owen, Torres, and McManaman. By and large, I think where a player is acting fairly reasonably I'll try to recognise it. That's why I've never said a bad word about Owen going to Utd. I would've done the same myself.
I remember Henderson saying Rodgers told him he was going to Fulham if he was happy to, and Henderson told him no.

For me he's stunted his career in the hope that he'll be able to break in to our team. A very risky move and arguably a silly one. If he gets games, and if he does score for us to help us, I'll be obviously overjoyed he stayed.
I get why him defying the club is bad, but ultimately I'd rather have him as 4th choice, in case we do persist with the diamond formation.

I don't even particularly blame him for defying the club, I'm just pissed off that he did. What I don't understand is why so many people look kindly on a player being completely self-interested and ruthlessly pursuing his own goals and costing the club a lot of money if it means he stays 'and fights for his place' but hate it when a player has the same motives and effect on the club but leaves to play for Real Madrid.
I don't see the difference. There's no loyalty, no decency, there. What's really doubly fucking annoying about Borini is that it doesn't make any sense for him either.

I think Borini is acting fairly reasonably here. Would you go back to Sunderland or stay with the CL club and fight for a place? I'd be 50/50 in this situation. I'd want to play football but it'd be hard to walk away from the CL club to another relegation battle. I'd also be aware that a move back home in Jan has a big chance of happening for me.
In other words. "I'm a big twat".
It's win win for him.
If he breaks into the team, WIN.
If not, he'll get a loan move in Jan (perhaps back home), WIN.
Just for the record, I obviously wanted to sell him for that price. I don't think he will have a future here longterm but him not wanting to go Sunderland or QPR is understandable.
I think you have to go and play in his situation, don't you? I think 99% of players would feel like that. The way he's acting is IMO fairly exceptional. Sunderland are an improving side under a good manager, it could be worse than spending a couple of years building your career there.
He can wish for a move to Italy all he wants, but I don't see that happening. None of those bastards seem to have two euros to rub together.

As Borini struggled to make an impact, Liverpool threw all their defenders forward, and with just 60 seconds to go Robert Huth inadvertanly handled a Lallana cross in the area.

Im very much of the ilk that doesnt like it when a player tries to break a contract to further their own end.
Likewise a player who signed a contract ought feel protected by it regardless of change at the club.
Borini for me has exercised a right not to be cast aside. I have no problem with that at all.
If the shoe was on the other foot and he wanted to leave and we wouldnt let him id be supportive of the club.
The contract to me is everything. We scouted him, signed him, agreed to a contract. Just because it no longer suits us doesnt mean the boy has to bend over.
I sympathise with those who just want him gone because they think hes shit. But thats ultimately not his problem.
Me I kinda like him, I like the way he plays and I hope he gets cup games and turns this round for us. If hes motivated to stay and do well and earn his place its better than having 12m in the bank and just 3 strikers.
