Bournemouth post-match

how did our midfield 3 do please?
i only watched highlights.

Really well - in Klopp's interview above - he mentions how well our positioning was between the lines - it was really good the way we retained possession and also prevented all those through balls that we struggle with. Matip did really well driving forward from the back on a few occasions, and also - had no idea about Gini's initial burst of pace he has in him. Very well controlled today, only downside was that again I thought the team failed to use Keita properly - and I kinda feel sorry for him as he is making himself available for the pass and some of the regulars don't pass to him - so he kind of faded from the game a little.

Yea first half Gini looked weak and sloppy, he improved along with the scoreline but overall an average performance.

Why so miserable Mo? We're top of the league

No idea, but hes now scored 42 league goals in 52 games. Thats insane, no other Liverpool player in the PL era come close to those numbers. The guy is a machine.

For those who are particularly interested in how our midfield performed:

I guess nobody bothered to make Gini's highlights :)

On a side note, isn't it amazing how far the technology has come? I remember watching I think 2002 CL final in my University library on a 250kps stream the size of a matchbox where you could barely distinguish one team from another – and feeling lucky that I found the stream at all. Fast-forward to now and I can post edited highlights of individual players in TV quality just a few hours after the match against Bournemouth. If bread and circuses is the formula to keep the populace relatively happy and docile, we are indeed getting damn good circuses.

our team in 2016 against Bournemouth

It was a midfield 2, Keita played alternatively at #10 or on LW. Gini looked a bit rusty, Fabinho OK but nothing more.

I thought Fabinho did quite well, he didn't have loads to do because Bournemouth were poor, but he intercepted well and put an end to a couple of breaks they had. Gini was the usual, kept things flowing but nothing above the norm, Keita was quiet compared to his last game, he didn't get involved so much.

Thats the heavily rotated team that won 2-1 in 2016, before the EL final. Not the team that lost 4-3 in the 16/17 season.

Yeah, that was the one with Origi, when he scored and we were cruising but then we just fell to pieces.

It doesn't really matter when he's playing as well as this, but I'm really tired of Salah's non-reaction to goals. If he's trying to send a message to someone, tell us what it is, and if he isn't, he ought to be aware it looks weird.

Trivial complaint number two: we're LFC, we're reds, so all the players wearing blue boots should get a grip. Apart from it being verboten historically anyway, it's aesthetically horrible with a red kit.

Trivial complaint number three: That appalling grey kit - surely we've completed whatever contractual obligation we have to wear the fecking awful thing, so burn it and never speak of it ever again.

It is an ugly kit... But we seem crazy good in it.. scoring like it was last season.

Damn that nutmeg from Fabs at 1.10 !

He had a really good game based on that vid.

I thought he had a good game, as I said in the post match stuff, but that video isn't spectacularly different to what the rest of our midfielders do, including Henderson. Plenty of relatively short and easy passes, a few punts forward that didn't come to anything, and a great pass for the OG, compounded with some decent interceptions and a few fouls. He's a natural DM and physically a monster, he's also great in the air and I think he'll be really good for us, but I don't really think that video is a great example of a "really good game".

The grey kit is fucking awesome.

VVD, Milner and Trent look particularly good in it.

The amount of piss that this weekend has boiled is incredible.

People are fuming that City got beat.

Thought Keita and Fabinho were boss, Salah too of course.

Excellent performances by both. Keita I remembered as being that good but Fabs' is even better than memory serves. If these two can keep serving this up then they will be fixtures in an excellent side 2019/2020 and can help us do well this season too.

Keita's technical ability and passing are both first class (as is his shooting BTW, most of his shots are on target). Fabs rarely puts a pass astray and mostly picks the right option, passing forward more often than not and far far more than Hendo (excellent pass to pick out Robbo to cross for the OG).

Hendo and Gini should be worried because these two are going to oust them as starters sooner rather than later.
