Boxing please

Im looking forward to these fights this weekend. I think Katsidis vs Mitchell could turn out to be a good scrap. Katsidis just likes to come forward and fight, so i think if Mitchell decides to box like he did against Prescott he will win, but if he stands and trades with Katsidis then i think Katsidis has the upper hand. (Although he always seens to leave himself open, so would risk a KO himself.) Always a chance it could get stopped on cuts aswell with Katsidis.
Katsidis has fought better competition like Casamayor and J.Diaz and was almost in agreement to fight Marquez, so this is a step up for Mitchell. Its a 50/50 fight for me, but im be rooting for Katsidis as iv enjoyed watching him through-out his career.

Looking forward to Khan vs Malignaggi aswell. I think Malignaggi has improved since he split with Buddy McGirt after the Hatton loss, he looked sharp against Diaz in there last 2 fights. He been in with some big names and only Hatton as stopped him (which so people think was a premature stoppage), so it will be a big achievement if Khan stops him. Both fast figthers and i think it will be a good fight. Big questions of Khans chin will be asked again i think if Malginaggi hurts him as Malginaggi has never be known for his power. Although i think Khans chin will hold up aliitle more know hes moved up in weight.
Il go with Khan on points in a competitive fight.

Some of the fights on the undercards could be good aswell, Danny Williams always seems to be involved in eventful fights, and Ortiz vs Campbell could be a good one.

Khan's chin may be iffy, but he can dig. I think he'll stop Malignaggi late on, after a hard-fought contest up till then.

Interesting snippet in "The Times" yesterday. Apparently Bob Arum has revealed that the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and the Dallas Cowboys Stadium have been reserved for 13th November as potential venues for Manny-v-Mayweather.

good post mate - both fights will be good. I'm intrigued by Mitchell as he seems to be quietly climbing the ranks, will be interesting to see if he fights with this heart or head.

really looking forward to the Khan fight - I hope he wins and does so in style, it will really hammer in british dominance over the US. Khan can go all the way with his new trainer.

Am I right in saying the Khan fight is at approx 3am our time? There's no huge undercard?

Cant get it confirmed anywhere, but dont wanna stay up til 6am, a 3am start is doable.

Both have questionable chins, but at least Khan can actually punch

Malignani couldn't put a hole in a wet Echo

The pre fight chat made me want to kick both of them in the head.

lol @ Williams

big fat past it Williams.

Degale well takes it up th hoop. Not that I'd say it to his face like.

Well, there are 20,000 Cockneys, wandering about East London, not knowing what the fuck to do !

Mitchell got "told off" by Jimmy Tibbs and Frank Warren at the post-fight press conference.

Apparently, he didn't prepare as diligently as he should and he was hanging about in the Lakeside shopping centre, with his mates, yesterday afternoon.

Oh dear.

The Kahn fight (eventually) was good. Kahn with flurries of punches & Malignaggi counter-punching.

Kahn unfortunately didnt seem to have enough power to KO Malignaggi, if he had it would have been an extremely good performance, as it was it was simply proficient without being as much sign of how much better he could be that I wanted. A deserved win though, he convincingly beat him.

I bet Malignaggi's face is like the elephant man today, every part of it was swollen by the time it was stopped.

Oh, & DeGale is so bent it's untrue.

Not many people end up knocking paulie out, it was a good measured performance from Khan and a tactical one where he seems like he just listened to instructions and followed them out.
Paulie is a moron, he had to big the fight up as much as possible and all the pre match talking shit and the 'bust up' at the weight in was all about making his last real pay day as big as possible.

Roach is probably thinking Khan is ready to take the step up now after the 'line them up' comment and Khan talking about taking on and beating Maidana, not really picking fights anymore.

What an awesome night of boxing!

Danny Williams was embarrassing, I don't know why he even bothered. He came out like a man already thinking about retirement, and not one who looked ready to fight. I'm glad he's now said that's that.

Good performance from De Gale too, would have been interesting to see how he woould have faired if the fight had gone a little bit longer. He got a decent reception too, but I don't think he's gonna be too popular as he goes on, people will think he's too flashy, without anything to really brag about at this point.

So gutted for Gavin Mitchell. It was meant to be his big night, in his backyard etc. But he never looked like he got to fight his fight, he got hounded, as he must have expected to have been, but he never looked comfortable, he got caught too early on in the third round, had it come closer to the end of the round he might have recovered from it. I feel bad for him, as it's gonna be hard for him to get a big fight without rebuilding now, I can't imagine he'll be heading up the bill again too soon.

Ortiz fought a good fight too, Nate Cambell looked too old and didn't do anything of note. It was nice too see Ortiz looking confident and composed in the ring, especially when thinking back to the Maidana (sp?) fight. Anyway, I think he'll be looking to fight Khan soon too.

Khan also fought well last night, he kept his discipline and didn't look for the spectacular, which I thought he was going to. I felt sorry for Malignaggi, as this was his last shot at the big time really, but he really didn't do enough, he showed, once again, that he was out of his depth, which is a shame for him. I can't see where he's gonna go from here, I can't imagine they'll be any big fights lined up for him after this one. Khan was calling out some tough fights straight afterwards though, I don't fancy his chances against Maidana, bearing in mind what he done to Ortiz. Alexander and Bradley, I know less about. And he's talking about another fight in July, surely that's far too soon?

Yeah, poor old Gavin...who ?

Kevin, on the other hand, didn't prepare properly and didn't listen to instructions.

I thought he was British, he keeps draping himself in the Union Jack

What does that even mean ?

Why act stupid when, presumably, you're not ?

Sorry Brendan, does the idea of second generation onward migrants with feelings of duel heritage and nationality confuse you?
