Shot in the dark here, but could it be the Can signing a new contact rumors are coming from the fact that Ozil maybe signing?

Aren't these two pretty close friends?

That is not very persuasive.

I will say that if he is not getting interest elsewhere, the wages offered in Italy might make whatever improved offer we make more attractive.

After having a decent game yesterday, Lovren was bound to have a brain fart somewhere.

I really wish it was. I can't understand why we're not trying everything to keep him.

It'd cost us 50M to replace him.

There is plenty of rumours flying about he has agreed a contract from numerous sources

However it appears they may have stemmed from this Instagram photo

Before we get all excited about Cans performance yesterday....just remember that the majority of the posts regarding his performances this season have been pretty much the polar opposite of yestarday and today.

I've not been a huge fan tbh, simply cos of his inconsistency.

However, those inconsistent matches are getting fewer & fewer between.

It annoys me that we want to keep him but can't seem to, I'll take losing players to Real or Barca, even City & Chelsea with their ridiculous piles of cash, but we shouldn't really be losing players in their prime to any other clubs unless it's our decision.

I don't think people appreciate how good a footballer he is.

He's got way too much of the prima-donna about him, and he coasts far too often. But he's got just about everything as a footballer (bar that touch of acceleration). Strong, great touch, awareness, plays a good pass, can intercept. He's the midfielder Jordan Henderson wishes he was.

I've said this numerous times on here, but why put 4-5 years of development into this kid, get him to this level and then watch him walk out the door for nothing when he's entering the prime of his career.

We havent agreed a contract yet because he appaz want a relativly low release clause.

We cant give in to that, but hopfully a compromize has been or will be reached

Thats because it is our decision...and its Klopps to make. I think in terms of getting a midfielder and taking him to the next level ...Klopp is second to none. But also Can may feel physically exhausted playing this system ... may not suite his physical conditioning.

It's easy enough, he's shite when it's against a park the bus side.

Emre Can says he’s still involved in contract discussions with Liverpool as he dismissed suggestions that he’s already agreed to join Juventus this summer.
The Germany international insists he has yet to make a decision about his future but confirmed that he won’t be going anywhere during the current window.
Can, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, has so far resisted the Reds’ attempts to convince him to pen a new deal. The 24-year-old's agent has been demanding a release clause which Liverpool aren’t prepared to sanction.
During the stand-off Can has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus with speculation in Italy that he’s on the brink of signing a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A outfit.

However, Can has given Kopites hope that he could remain at Anfield beyond this season.
“My agent is looking after everything but I am here until the summer,” Can said.
“I haven’t signed anything (with Juventus) or anyone. I am talking with everyone.
“Of course I am talking with Liverpool. I still have a contract here. It is an amazing club. What can I say? My agent does the rest.
“I just concentrate on the season, on my performance and the football. I will give everything for this team.”

Emre Can joins the celebrations with Sadio Mane for Liverpool's third against Man City
Can overcame illness to deliver arguably his best performance of the season in Sunday’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester City. The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder hailed it as the kind of combative and classy team display which will make the Reds’ Champions League rivals sit up and take notice.
“It was unbelievable,” he said.

“Look at how we pressed, I think it was the best game. We played against Manchester City, you don’t have to forget that! We were always on the front foot, everyone pressing and everyone doing a brilliant job. I don’t know how many kilometres we ran...
“If the teams saw us playing like that, they will give us a lot of respect and we will take a lot of confidence.
“We don’t have to pick one player out. Every single player performed and did an amazing job. Teams watching our performance will think ‘oh wow!’ They will see we are a strong side but it’s just one game and we have to keep going. It’s Swansea next.”

Can admits it was important for Liverpool to prove they can shine without Philippe Coutinho following his recent £142million move to Barcelona. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was tasked with filling the void against Man City and the England international rose to the occasion - scoring the first and creating the second for Robert Firmino.
“Phil is a world class player but in the past we played a lot of games without him that were very good. Against City it was the same,” Can added.

“Of course we will miss him. We will miss his goals, we will miss him as a team-mate and as a guy but we have to keep going.
“Alex was brilliant. He played all his life as a winger but against Man City he played as a No 8 and you could see he is an amazing player. He’s quick, he’s strong in tackles and he can score goals.”

We need to do everything we can to keep him. If he wants a 30mill release clause, give it to him. Better to get something back, rather than nothing.

Really hope he stays, he’s way too underrated and under appreciated on this website.

Ok ... how much is he worth in todays market ?

I suppose the club's fear is that if they give in to Can, then everyone from Salah to VVD will want one and we'd be powerless the next time Barca or Real come knocking.

In the 9 games Can has played as the holding #6 this season, we've won 6 and drawn 3.

Look it up yourself.

Ha, not that bothered to go through 30 odd games.

He's still too slow in possession against weaker teams especially at home where we need to move the quicker than he seems capable of.

He loves taking an extra touch almost as much as Lallana.

His positional sense needs a lot of work too.

Can is our best CM. You can see how important he is in our squad. I remember he was concerned about his place in the squad during the contract impasse some time around 2016, but there is no argument now, he deserves his place in the first team. That is how far he has come.

I think opinions on Can change from game to game
They do, as does his form

He has a very high ceiling on his ability, and there's no reason why he couldn't be fantastic. I go from hating he lad after another abject display, to wishing he'd sign a contract this second because he's crucial to our system.

Exactly, he's very inconsistent. But it could be due to him being moved around. From DM to CM to DM etc
