Gomez getting a lot of stick for the goal, but he did a LOT of good at RB today. We were playing a team with the most points EVER at this stage of a season - he made a lot of important tackles/ blocks and his positioning on many occasions was very good. He's making mistakes but he is growing every game in my eyes, which is ideal.

I knew it was going to be our day when the traffic cop who pulled me over on the M6 on the way to the game let me off with a warning as ‘90mph is way below what I’m interested in today.’

Apropos the game, I thought with the exception of that shithouse in goal we were, to a man, excellent today. I’ve seen enough of Robertson already to know he’s our best left back in 30 years. Great credit to the midfield. Can was superb and Wjnaldum had his best game for us. Firmino is one of the best players without the ball I’ve ever seen.

Great atmosphere in the ground.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but I thought the ref was fucking brilliant today.
In particular the way he let 50/50s and shoulder charges go. Most refs don't allow that Bobby goal.

Great job.

Lovely prose from the Guardian:

As he brushes his teeth this evening Sterling will no doubt find himself taking a sneaky look up in the mirror just to check that shape lurking by the bathroom door is not Andrew Robertson steaming out of the airing cupboard to make another sniping, raking challenge at his heels.

That was a great piece altogether by Barney Ronay.

Watched the game at a joint in a small village in Ghana - quite an experience! The place was packed with locals, apparently people here are huge on football and they were going mental on every goal, dancing and shit. I was the only white person there; Liverpool supporters slightly outnumbered Man City’s, but there were also a few neutrals (like some guy walked in in a Man United shirt - weird choice for this game in particular, but nobody cared). For some reason Africans love Guinness beer - most people were drinking it.

Overall the atmosphere was emotional, but friendly - there were arguments, but they never escalated. Salah and Mane were unsurprisingly the most popular players, whenever Salah got the ball everyone started screaming.

Can’t say much about the game that hasn’t been already said. This was a fucking awesome statement win, slightly marred by some goalkeeping and defensive errors. The score flatters City; we were the first team this season to comprehensively outplay them. This team has a future.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Mohamed Al-Modiahki, Ahmad Hassan Abdullah, Talal Mansour Al-Rahim, Fahad al-Khubaisi, Mansour Muftah…
Your boys took one hell of a beating.

Salah needs to be careful or one of these Sheiks will force Egypt to force him to sign for Man City. In return Egypt gets a load of dosh.

I thought the midfielders were terrific in this game. It's hard for a game to go badly when they all play so well. Can, Wijnaldum and Oxlade-Chamberlain were terrific.

At the back, Matip was quite good and maybe he'll be ok beside someone like VVD. Lovren played well for most of the game and then seemed to go to pieces at the end, especially for that Gundogan goal, what the fuck was that all about? Gomez looks great with the ball at his feet, but when the ball is in the air he acts like a kitten chasing a housefly. Some posters have said that can be coached away, I hope they're right. I'm not sure Karius could do much for the goals, but he looked as nervy as ever, it almost seems cruel of Klopp to play the guy.

Up front, Salah and Firmino were quieter than usual but still managed to be the difference and at key moments were pure class. Mane took his goal well and has good moments but I feel like he makes lots of little mistakes of judgment in every game in terms of where to run, when to run, when to pass, and so on... he also seems to switch off at times, especially when the play is behind him. I want to love the guy but I can't seem to.

Robertson was MOTM for me. I hope he stays injury free and is our left back for the next few years.

Emré Can had a very good game today. I fear that was because he knew Juventus representatives were sitting in the Main Stand!

Why the fuck does he want to leave anyway ? - he has a German coach, is in a country where there is a large population of his ethno-religious background like him, good education and all. Yeah sure Turin is nice but its a lot of hassle to switch to another country and settle up and all the shit that goes with it. Maybe he is just dumb.

That win
That performance
That atmosphere
Those goals, every single one of them
That midfield game from Can and Wijnaldum
That touch from Salah
That energy from Firmino
That finish to the game
That fuck-your-tactics-and-shape-I’m-just-gonna-run-like-fuck moment from Robertson
That 8 minute spell
That response to fucking Coutinho
I dunno, everything really

Whatever you want... Just don’t make your first reaction “Karius is shit” cos you just sound like a petty fucking idiot.

Ox, Bob, Sadio & Mo, what superb goals.
Emre and Winni - great performances.
Andy - almost like the Flash and Captain America.
Gomez good with the balls on the ground but not in the air.
Dejan and Joel - quietly effective until the last 10 minutes.
Karius - one goal his fault not sure he can do anything for the other two goals.

What a pulsating game and so glad we won. We were not in any trouble until the last 10 minutes of play.

Also I've watched the MOTD highlights and for all the shit the pundits get for being anti Liverpool they couldn't have sucked the team off more if they were Moran imaging it was VVD.

They didn't even bother having a go at our shite defence in the last 10 mins which if they had an agenda they could have easily.

Shearer couldn't stop praising us.
