Liverpool Sign Clyne (Confirmed)

My best bit of ITK knowledge ever was when my mate who's a friend of Gerrard told me that when they'd asked Rafa what they were going to do about Alonso leaving he'd said that he'd already put a deal in place with an Italian kid who was going to be 'better than Alonso', but wouldn't say who it was.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce to you, Alberto Aquilani.

Are you friends with Modo?

This news may well be older than Jesus but apparently as we only sign players from So'ton with surnames beginning with 'L', Clyne has changed his name to Nathaniel C Lyne to hasten the process.

Good on him. That's commitment.

There's a lot of noise around a deal between Liverpool and Southampton for right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
BBC Sport have been told that reports of a £12.5m bid being accepted are premature and that any agreement remains some way off.

A few people on a Southampton forum had suggested that Clyne was hoping for a bid from United.

No idea if they are knowledgeable or not though.

Nathaniel Clyne going to Liverpool sounds like a good deal to me. I think he is the best right back in the country, I really do.

He has done very well at Southampton and at £12m Liverpool have got a good deal, it’s not ridiculous money so both parties will be happy with that.

He’s a good player, he has proved that at Southampton and he was massively disappointed he didn’t play for England and so he should be.

He’s the best right back, and he is a right back. That’s England putting round pegs in square holes again.[/article]

Cole has linked to this Kicca post using this title:

"Why #LFC have are signing the best right back in the country"

The so-called 'witchcraft trials' were not in the Middle Ages.

Ha ha! Indeed. I love your attention to historical detail @doctor_mac

Besides I thought he was talking about the Salem Witch Craft trials of 1692 which was in a period between the Reformation and the Georgian period (a grey area historically wise)
Anyway that Clyne huh - Good player.

Besides I thought he was talking about the Salem Witch Craft trials of 1692 and again in 1878. Which were more historically relevant.

Anyway that Clyne huh - Good player.

I was just trying to call Roy a simpleton :'(

....and I raise you:

#LFC expect Nathaniel Clyne to sign a 5-year-deal when he returns from hols. 12.5m the fee. A striker still a target.

i raise you.....

BREAKING NEWS
Liverpool are close to reaching a £12.5million agreement to sign Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne, according to Sky sources.
Sky Sports reported earlier this month that the Reds had seen a £10m flatly rejected by Saints, who want at least £15m for the highly-sought-after right-back.
It is believed the Merseyside club are in discussions over a structured deal that would take the fee up towards the £15m-mark based on certain conditions that would eventually be met by the player.

The way I'm thinking about these signings is will they continue to be good squad members once Rodgers has gone?

I think they generally will be. Ings already looks a bit of a spare part if you add in another striker, but otherwise it's all good.

Yeah you'd think so. The players we have signed have been coveted by a lot of big clubs and I'm actually surprised we've managed to snare one or two of them. Ings I've already written off as a dud.
