Oh yes oh yes oh Yesil!!! Go on my son!!!!

Forgotten striker Samed Yesil was pictured training with the Liverpool first-team on Thursday as the Reds prepare for their Premier League clash with Hull City.

Yesil, 20, has become something of a forgotten figure amongst fans, the German striker was signed in 2012 in a £1 million deal from Bayer Leverkusen.

The striker was highly-rated, with many expecting the German to feature in the first-team very quickly and often after signing for Liverpool.

However, Yesil has made two appearances for Liverpool since joining the club. The forward made his debut against West Brom in the League Cup third round, starting against the Baggies.

Yesil then made his second Liverpool appearance against Swansea in the fourth round of the League Cup, since then the striker has not appeared for the first-team.

Furthermore, in his first season at Liverpool, the youngster ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament on international duty with Germany’s Under-19, the striker was then out for rest of the season. The injury arguably regressed the ability of the youngster, meaning he is now playing catch up.

However, on Thursday, the striker trained with the Liverpool first-team, suggesting that Brendan Rodgers has been keeping an eye out on him.

It hadn't occurred to me before, but that pic reminds me that of course we now have two Germans of Turkish origin at the club since Can's arrival. Hopefully that'll help them both.

I hope we give him a whirl soon. Apart from anything else I can't wait to see the effect on macca. Perhaps we'll get the Kebab Chronicles. ;)

Serious question for macca and anybody else. The needs of the team are obv.crucial, but what about the player himself? Notwithstanding the fact that he's been out for a very long time, could we still end up damaging his development if we fetch him into the side too early, especially under the current tricky circumstances?

I don't think it would do him any harm. He's not anything like Kelly, who never seemed to recover mentally from his injury. Yesil's not yet really back to where he was before the two injuries, but he's almost stereotypically cool and clinical in his play and there's certainly no danger his heat map will mirror Mario's. He's a fox and he's sniffing out chickens.

Bib theory suggest he will play in goal on Saturday

Quite obviously the answer to all our problems both up front & at the back; my faith has been restored. WGTWTL

Well in terms of mobility up front his only competition is Borini and i don't think it will require Yesil to raise his game by that much to be more of a goal threat than Fabio B.

If he can tap the ball into an empty net from 5 yards out I think he should adapt just fine to the pressures of playing up front for us

The great Yesil is greeted by his many adoring fans in Germany. That book that's being held out to him is my The Samed Yesil Story - all the pages are blank so far but I wanted his signature on the first page. It will be worth a fortune once I've finished chronicling the great man's progress!

I hope I'm wrong, but he always looks really one dimensional to me, a Francis Jeffers type player.

Of course, as long as his one dimension is goalscoring right now that's fine by me. I just wonder if he's ready and might find himself muscled out of games right now. He doesn't strike me as potentially any better than Borini.

Like I say though, I'd be very happy to get this one completely wrong.

He's full of goals, I tell yer. FULL of 'em. The internal pressure that builds up from having so many goals in him is making his eyes bulge. THAT'S how many goals he has in him. Unleash the Yesil!

He and Can are big mates, aren't they?

Perhaps his training with the first team has more to do with that for whatever reason than genuine merit.

He couldn't score any less in the league than "Super Mario"

I've lost hope on him because he is so injury prone.

I don't know what to think about this given @ILD recently revealed that I have been part of an 18 month woosh from @gkmacca re: Yesil

I'm sure I made a post about gkmacca and his praise of Yesil and you alerted me to the fact that it was a parody bandwagon?!

I was so taken in by it that I bought Yesil on FIFA when playing as my local team Aldershot! ha

gkmacca has praised Yesil from the off and started the bandwagon but it isn't a parody bandwagon. I doubt I told you it was a parody bandwagon mate.

Yesil is highly rated.

Fair dos! Someone definitely made that claim and it made me doubt my levels of trust! ha
