Confirmed transfers 2012/13

Have they signed another player with the exact same name? Or is this just poor journalism?

Yeah, its a namesake. 16 yr old striker with 13 France U16 caps and 3 goals.

Luciano Narsingh - PSV (€4.1m)

The talented winger’s contract at Abe Lenstra Stadion ran until the summer of 2013, and the club management decided to cash in on the offer made by PSV rather than risk losing him on free next year.

Reports from Abe Lenstra Stadion confirm that SC Heerenveen have agreed to sell Luciano Narsingh to PSV Eindhoven for a fee of 4.1 million Euros.

The 21-year-old attacker, who started his professional career at Abe Lenstra Stadion in the 2008/09 season, played 62 matches for the Friesland outfit, netting 13 goals while providing a bagful of assists.

His contract with Heerenveen was due to expire in the summer of 2013. The club management wanted to prolong his stay at Abe Lenstra Stadion by offering him a new contract, but the forward was unwilling to extend his contract, leaving the club no choice but to cash in on PSV’s offer rather than letting him go free next year.

Johan Hansma, the Heerenveen technical director, expressed disappointment at the departure of the exciting young player, but insisted that the club had no other choice.

“Narsingh would not sign an extension with Heerenveen. We did not want to risk losing him on a free transfer next year. He would have just walked out of the door”, Hansma was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.

The Dutch international will reportedly put pen to a long-term contract at Philips Stadion after successfully passing medical.

Dick Advocaat, the PSV head coach, was extremely delighted at the arrival of Narsingh, and revealed that the signing of the young winger will hand him more options upfront.

“I think Narsingh is a good choice. With him in the squad now, we will have more options upfront. He is extremely talented given that he is only 21 years old. He has already made it into the national team. PSV will certainly prove to be a good step in his career in the coming years”, Advocaat was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.

Ajax Amsterdam were also interested in acquiring the Dutchman’s services before the 2012/13 campaign kicks-off. However, the talented winger has himself expressed his desire to join the Eindhoven giants.

How is it that we didn't get in on this?

Maybe we were Roland. After what has happened to Babel, Elija (sp?), Affellay etc. is it any wonder that anyone advising a young winger in the Dutch league would advise against leaving for a big league too soon?

Lorenzo De Silvestri - Sampdoria (loan with option to buy)

Sampdoria have completed the signing of Lorenzo De Silvestri from Fiorentina, the Marassi outfit have confirmed.

The 24-year-old joins Doria on a loan deal with an option to be netted outright at the end of the current campaign.

“I immediately accepted this possibility, all it took was one phone call,” the right-back noted. “I have a great desire to kick-start my career.

“I’ve already got a taste of the Sampdoria fans over Twitter. I’ve received a lot of messages of support.

“There is a positive environment here and I will meet up with a lot of friends from the past. There is also my idol within the coaching staff – Angelo Peruzzi.”

The Roman started his career in the Lazio youth system and he joined the Stadio Franchi outfit in August 2009 on a five-year deal.

A former Italian Under-21 international, he has also been capped at full international level by Cesare Prandelli.

Gene and Y1, any aspiring winger worth his salt who looks at our squad would almost be guaranteed first team football regardless of Babel and Elia's failure. They should want to come to a team in transition with a young manager willing to develop his players. That's should be attractive enough a proposition.

Rodgers can't sign all the good players who played for him. The challenge is to sell his vision of what he wants to turn Liverpool into. Who doesn't want to make a new history and be a part of it?

John Cofie........Man Utd to Sheff Utd on loan. Pretty much guarntees promotion one would have thought.

Andrew Lonergan - Bolton (undisclosed fee)

Bolton Wanderers have strengthened their goalkeeping department by signing Andrew Lonergan from Leeds United.

The 28-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

Manager Owen Coyle said: "There were four clubs in for Andy so we are pleased that he signed for us.

"We have a player who has a wealth of experience at this level and also his signing will add to the competition for the keeper's jersey."

Lonergan has made 243 of his 275 career total appearances in the Championship.

Andy Lonergan is keen to make his mark at the Reebok Stadium - but acknowledges that he has a battle on his hands to claim the goalkeeping jersey.

The 28-year-old completed his move from Leeds United on Tuesday after agreeing a three-year contract with Wanderers.

Lonergan's first involvement with his new team-mates will be joining them on the pre-season tour to Scotland, which starts against Ayr United on Wednesday evening at Somerset Park.

"I've come here to put pressure on Adam (Bogdan)," the Preston-born man told Wanderers Player.

"I believe he was Player of the Year last season and did exceptionally well, so it's it going to be a challenge for both of us. But around the squad in general the competition is fierce.

"I've had the privilege of being the number one wherever I've been, so this is a change. It's going to be a challenge but you have to take challenges on."

He added: "There's a fantastic squad - I was sat in the changing room today and you could see all the quality players here.

"There's a few of the lads I know pretty well from playing against like Matt Mills, while I used to play with Tyrone Mears. There are a few familiar faces in the backroom staff as well."

Lonergan had other options but decided to move to the Reebok Stadium because of the club's ambition to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

He explained: "A few other clubs had offers accepted but as soon as I knew of Bolton's interest and the way the club has conducted itself during the talks, I wanted to come here. I'm delighted that today is the day.

"I've played nearly 250 matches in this league and I've come close to getting out of it. The squad here is Premier League quality and I believe it is best placed to get promoted.

"This is the perfect move for me and I'm delighted that it has all gone through."

Fraser Fyvie - Wigan

Wigan Athletic have secured the signing of exciting young Scottish midfielder Fraser Fyvie on a three-year deal from SPL side Aberdeen for an undisclosed fee.

The 19 year-old, central midfielder has earned many plaudits following his performances in central midfield for the Dons since making his debut in 2008 at the tender age of 16.

His debut against Hamilton Academical made him the youngest player ever to start for Aberdeen, and he would go on to break more records north of the border by becoming the SPL's youngest ever goalscorer, finding the back of the net against Hearts in 2010 at Tynecastle.

A cruciate ligament injury ruled him out for much of the 2010-11 campaign, but he returned to action last season and showed the kind of form that has impressed many and took his Aberdeen career total to 58 league appearances and two goals - the other strike coming against Dunfermline last season.

On making his first signing of the summer transfer window, Roberto Martinez said:

"I'm excited because we're signing such a strong character and a great personality at just 19 years of age.

"He's got a tremendous future in his hands and we're all delighted that he's making a big step forward in his career here at Wigan Athletic.

"He's a bright young man and will have a good environment here in which to develop with players that have been through similar experiences and of course our fans who I know will make him feel very welcome and allow him to develop over the coming months.

"Technically he's very gifted, enjoys playing in the midfield where he can cover large areas, he's very powerful off the ball and in possession is someone who can read the tempo of the game very well.

"Also you have to remember that for such a young player he's played a lot of games in the SPL at a high standard which shows his maturity.

"Together with the rest of the squad and, of course, the other Scottish boys in the squad he'll settle in quickly I'm sure, but he's so eager to get going and take advantage of the good experience within the Dressing Room."

Adrian Mariappa - Reading (£2.5 million)

The Royals are very pleased to announce the signing of defender Adrian Mariappa from Watford.

The 25-year-old centre back has signed a three-year contract at Madejski Stadium, and will travel with his new teammates for our pre-season training camp in Portugal on Wednesday.

The club have paid a significant fee for Adrian's services and look forward to adding him to our already competitive squad.

Chairman Sir John Madejski said, "I would like to welcome Adrian to Reading Football Club, this is another very positive step by the club and one I am delighted has been completed. Adrian is very highly thought of and we hope he can develop even further under Brian McDermott and his staff."

Director of Football Nick Hammond said, "It's great to have this done, it has taken a period of time over the summer because of the change in ownership at Watford so a lot has gone into getting it completed. He's a centre half with Premier League experience, he's got good pace and is a fantastic individual. In terms of personality and character he'll fit in perfectly and also quickly, which is important."

Manager Brian McDermott added, "I'm delighted to get the deal to sign Aidy over the line, we have been chasing him all summer. He's been a very important player for Watford over a number of years, he is well known to most of our players already and also the staff here. Every single person I have spoken to about him has nothing but good things to say about him both as a player and as a person."

Adrian said, "It's a great feeling to have signed. The Premier League is the best in the world, I'm delighted to have the opportunity to come here, try to work my way into the team and perform for Reading Football Club."

The Jamaican international has been a one-club man at Watford, playing almost 250 games for the Hornets after coming through the ranks at Vicarage Road under the tutelage of Nigel Gibbs, Chris Cummins and David Dodds, who are of course now all part of the Reading staff.

For a relatively young man he has great experience, including knowledge of the Barclays Premier League. He has played 30 or more games in each of the last five seasons and is exceptionally dependable.

From 2009 to 2011 he played 113 consecutive games for the Hornets, the fourth longest run in the club's history.

Last season he was vice captain at Vicarage Road, and skippered their youth and reserve teams earlier in his career.

He was named his club's Player of the Season in May, and although primarily a central defender, he can also play at full back.

The deal is subject to normal ratification of paperwork by the football authorities, and his squad number will be confirmed in due course.

Gianluca Curci - Bologna (loan with option to buy)

Stadio Dall’Ara outfit Bologna have confirmed the capture of goalkeeper Gianluca Curci from Roma.

The 27-year-old has been signed on a one-season loan deal, with an option to be netted outright next summer.

“I’m starting a new adventure in which I will give the very best of myself,” the former Italian Under-21 international stated.

Bologna needed a new custodian after opting to sell Jean Francois Gillet to newly promoted Torino.

Curci, who will have to do battle with Federico Agliardi for the gloves, spent last season as a reserve at Roma following loan spells at Siena and Sampdoria.

Valon Behrami and Alessandro Gamberini - Napoli (€8.5m)

Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri is content with the arrivals of Valon Behrami and Alessandro Gamberini from Fiorentina.

“Gamberini is a player who, like Goran Pandev, needs to be re-evaluated. He has some important experience and is an Italian international.

“Behrami is younger, a player who has always done well and has never thrown in the towel. He, like Gamberini, can cover a number of roles.

“He can play in the middle of midfield and on the wing. He is a player who can be very useful.”

The pair are understood to have cost the Stadio San Paolo outfit in the region of €8.5m.

Defender Gamberini will be 31 next month, while former West Ham and Lazio man Behrami is still just 27.

Ibrahimovic to PSG confirmed. 13 mill euros a year in wages, 2nd highest in the world.

Look, if you can't be arsed to do it properly, then just wait for Binny to do it. I expect a photograph and some emboldened quotes with my transfer news.

Luuk De Jong: Has completed his transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach have completed the signing of Dutch striker Luuk de Jong from FC Twente on a five-year deal.
The transfer has appeared inevitable since De Jong

stated his desire to move to Bundesliga side Gladbach and not fellow suitorsNewcastle

last week.

But the move was finally completed when the 21-year-old successfully passed a medical on Tuesday evening and signed the contract the following morning.
The Holland international was Gladbach's main transfer target this summer as they look to strengthen ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign.
De Jong scored 39 goals in 75 appearances for Twente as well as gaining experience in Europe with the Eredivisie side and that has been highlighted as a factor in the purchase.
"With Luuk de Jong, we are getting a highly-talented attacker who, despite being only 21, already has a wealth of experience in Europe with FC Twente

and the Dutch national team," said Gladbach's director of sport Max Eberl.

"We are really delighted that this transfer has finally gone through. Luuk will be able to travel with us into our training camp at Tegernsee on Friday."
