Craig Roddan - Accrington Stanley (loan)
craig-roddan-640x353.jpg

[article=http://accringtonstanley.co.uk/2014/01/liverpool-midfielder-signs/]Accrington Stanley have completed the loan signing of Liverpool midfielder Craig Roddan.

The 20-year-old will stay at the Store First Stadium for an initial month.

Roddan is a highly rated Academy product at Anfield who has just completed a similar loan spell at League One side Carlisle United.

Stanley boss James Beattie is delighted to have secured on of his long term transfer targets.

“Craig’s a very good young player,” he said. “He’s very competitive, technically sound and good on the ball as you would expect from a player who has come through at a club like that.

“I tried to get him before and Craig actually trained with us once but the deal fell through. We’ve managed to make it happen now and we’re delighted.

“He can play in a number of different positions but he also knows the game and has that pedigree of coming from such a big club. He comes with a glowing report from his coaches and we can’t wait to see him wear the Stanley shirt.”[/article]

Ian Holloway - Millwall (Manager)
holloway298-1278893_478x359.png

[article=http://www.millwallfc.co.uk/news/article/holloway-announcement-1278922.aspx#F8Ohad2J0d7K2gf7.99]Millwall Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed with Ian Holloway for him to become new manager following the departure of Steve Lomas on Boxing Day.

Ollie is set to take up his new position this week and will be in charge of the team for the Championship fixture at Huddersfield Town on Saturday. [/article]
[article=http://www.millwallfc.co.uk/news/article/chairman-statement-6-jan-1279005.aspx#Luar6iZguE7xWOHf.99]Chairman John Berylson has spoken to millwallfc.co.uk about Ian Holloway's appointment as new first team manager of Millwall.

"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Holloway as our new manager.

"The fact that we have been able to attract someone of Ian's calibre and track record is testament to the fact that he shares our view of the potential we have to progress as a club and to move forward.

"In our determination to bring Ian in on a two-and-a-half-year contract, we have demonstrated both the level of our ambition and commitment towards re-establishing ourselves as a competitive Championship club, and in due course challenging towards the top end of this division.

"We are under no illusions that our first priority under Ian's leadership is to ensure we maintain our Championship status. The new manager inherits an experienced and talented squad that has not been playing to its potential so far this season. He will receive the backing of the board to strengthen as he deems necessary.

"Since the departure of Kenny Jackett in May we have all learned some difficult lessons. Under Kenny we enjoyed a period of stability in which all elements within the club, from the board, management, staff, players and fans were pulling together in the same direction.

"Our aim, going forward, is to rediscover that formula that stood us in such good stead.

"I am disappointed with the way things have developed over the past six months. Where mistakes have been made, they have been honest ones and decisions taken were with the best interests of the club at heart. I have been in constant contact with Pete Garston, our Fan Director, to discuss supporters' issues.

"I understand the passion and desire of our fans to see Millwall become successful once again, and I know that the biggest driver for this to happen is for everyone to get behind the team, the management and everyone who works tirelessly for this club.

"I would like to personally thank our CEO Andy Ambler for handling the current situation and for ultimately persuading Ian to come and discuss the managerial vacancy with myself and the board.

"As with most families, there have been some harsh words exchanged of late and there is no doubt that it has been painful for those on the receiving end.

"Now is the time for disunity to stop and for us all to unite behind Ian Holloway, his staff and the players as they seek to restore Millwall Football Club both on and off the field." [/article]

Great 'signing' by Millwall get Holloway, no wonder they were so eager to push Lomas out after half a season.

Mating season
“I couldn’t be more chuffed if I were a badger at the start of the mating season!”
-Holloway, after his Queens Park Rangers side beat Cardiff in 2004.

Better in the dark
“I love Blackpool. We’re very similar. We both look better in the dark.”
-Holloway, on his post at Bloomfield Road.

Thumb-sucking
“I’ve had such bad luck at the moment that if I fell in a barrel of boobs I’d come out sucking my thumb.”
-Holloway, on an especially poor run at Queens Park Rangers. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Premier-League-top-table-with-Blackpool.html

Feeling better
“He’s six-foot something, fit as a flea, good-looking. He’s got to have something wrong with him. Hopefully he’s hung like a hamster! That would make us all feel better.”
-Holloway, writing about Cristiano Ronaldo in a BBC column in 2008. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20191292

Ugly as sin
“I don’t see the problem with footballers taking their shirts off after scoring a goal. They enjoy it and the young ladies enjoy it, too. Of course they’d have to go and watch another game because my lads are ugly as sin.”
-Holloway, responding to a question about mandatory bookings for taking a shirt off.

Gentleman’s terms
“To put it in gentleman’s terms, if you’ve been out for a night and you’re looking for a young lady and you pull one, you’ve done what you set out to do. We didn’t look our best today but we’ve pulled. Some weeks the lady is good-looking and some weeks they’re not. Our performance today would have not been the best-looking bird, but at least we got her in the taxi. She may not have been the best-looking lady we ended up taking home, but it was still very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much and let’s have coffee.”

Lee Camp - Bournemouth (free transfer)
camp-4x3-signing34-1274086_478x359.jpg

[article=http://www.afcb.co.uk/news/article/2014-01-04-official-camp-commits-future-to-cherries-1274200.aspx?#MJ86ut2SA0ZdARAm.99]AFC Bournemouth has secured the signing of goalkeeper Lee Camp on a two-and-a-half-year-deal.

Camp became a free agent at midnight on New Year’s Day following the expiration of his loan deal with the Cherries and contract with parent club West Bromwich Albion, and Eddie Howe has since swooped to secure the stopper’s services until the summer of 2016.

Camp initially joined the Cherries on a one month long loan at the end of October, having found opportunities hard to come by with the Baggies.

The deal was then extended and he continued to impress, with arguably his best performance coming in the final match of his loan spell against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Boasting an abundance of Championship experience, having made over 300 appearances for Derby County, QPR, Norwich City and Nottingham Forest, Camp said he was delighted to have come to an agreement to continue his impressive second tier record with the Cherries.

“I am pleased everything has been sorted and I am delighted to have signed," he told afcb.co.uk.

“Discussions have been ongoing for the past couple of weeks but we have come to a pretty speedy conclusion in the end, so credit must go to the football club for how they have handled it.

“Going into the Brighton game we weren’t a million miles apart. If anything slowed it down over the Christmas period it was the fact we had three games in six days.

“I spoke to the manager at the hotel before the game on New Year’s Eve and I was fairly confident we would all get to where we needed to get to, to make the deal happen.

“Now I have something sorted, I can concentrate on playing football.”

The goalkeeper did not sign in time to feature in today’s FA Cup match against Burton Albion, but will return to training on Monday and be in contention to face Wigan Athletic when the side return to league action next weekend.[/article]

Wasn't he the next big thing around the Scott Carson era?

Yeah, his name appeared in and around the mix but playing most of his football in Championship probably didn't help. Hasn't played much over the past 2 seasons too.

Roger Johnson - West Ham (loan)
Roger-Johnson_2630579.jpg

[article=http://www.whufc.com/articles/20140106/hammers-move-for-johnson_2236884_3606490]West Ham United are pleased to confirm the signing of centre-back Roger Johnson on loan for the remainder of the 2013/14 season.

Johnson joins the Hammers from Sky Bet League One high-fliers Wolverhampton Wanderers and could go straight into the squad for Wednesday's Capital One Cup semi-final first leg tie at Manchester City.

A League Cup winner with Birmingham City in 2011, the 30-year-old reached the FA Cup final with Cardiff City in 2008 and has made more than 100 Premier League appearances for Birmingham and Wolves.

Johnson will boost Sam Allardyce's defensive options, with centre-backs Winston Reid, James Collins and James Tomkins all recovering from injuries at present.

Born in Surrey, Johnson became Wycombe Wanderers' youngest-ever player when he made his debut just eight days past his 17th birthday in May 1999. The following season, 2000/01, he helped the Chairboys to reach the FA Cup semi-finals as a Division Two side.

After four seasons as a first-team regular, Johnson celebrated being named in the 2005/06 League Two Team of the Year by making a £275,000 move to Cardiff City in July 2006. Johnson quickly established himself in the Welsh capital, making 136 appearances over four seasons, including the 2008 FA Cup final defeat by Portsmouth at Wembley.

After being named in the Championship Team of the Year in 2008/09, Johnson's stock had risen to an all-time high, tempting Premier League new boys Birmingham to spend £5m to add him to their squad in June 2009.

At St Andrew's, Johnson formed an outstanding partnership with Scott Dann as the Blues went on a 16-match unbeaten run between October 2009 and January 2010. Birmingham would finish the season in ninth place.

The following campaign, 2010/11, brought a mixture of elation and disappointment for Johnson as he scored a late equaliser against West Ham at St Andrew's to help the Blues win their thrilling League Cup semi-final with the Hammers and went on to lift the trophy, only to suffer relegation after losing four of their last five Premier League matches.

Relegation did not affect Johnson's value, however, as Wolves spent a reported £7m to take him to Molineux in July 2011. Playing alongside Matt Jarvis, Johnson was appointed captain and made 28 appearances, but was unfortunately unable to prevent Wolves from being relegated from the Premier League.

Johnson was again a regular last season, making 42 Championship appearances and scoring twice for the Black Country club. This term, with Wolves seeking to cut their wage bill, the centre-back has spent three months on loan at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, playing 17 times.[/article]

Kenneth Omeruo - Middlesbrough (loan)

[article=http://www.mfc.co.uk/page/news/latest/0,,1~3607917,00.html]YOUNG defender Kenneth Omeruo has today joined Boro on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.

The 20-year old Nigeria international, who can play at centre-back and full-back, has yet to make his debut for Chelsea but is highly rated at Stamford Bridge.

"Kenneth is a strong defender and I think we need to improve in this area," said Boro Head Coach Aitor Karanka.

"I know him José (Mourinho) and has told me about him and I think he's going to be very good for us to add to the squad."

Omeruo was signed from Belgian club Standard Liege in January 2012 and immediately went on loan to Dutch top-flight side ADO Den Haag.

Born in Abia, Nigeria, Omeruo made his senior debut for his national team last season as a 19-year-old and impressed in the team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

He has since become a regular, winning 14 caps, and also played in the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. He is anxious for first-team club football to press his claims of playing for Nigeria in this summer's World Cup finals.

Omeruo played a total of 36 games for ADO Den Haag, scoring two goals.[/article]

Sidney Sam - Schalke (€2.5million)

[article=http://www.schalke04.de/en/news/140108_sam/page/715--86-86-.html]With seven goals and five assists in 13 matches, Sidney Sam is one of the most effective players in the Bundesliga this season. And from 1 July, the Germany international will wear the shirt of FC Schalke 04. The 25-year-old midfielder joins the Royal Blues from Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year deal that ties him to the club until 30 June 2018.

"Sidney Sam has shown how much impetus he can offer in attack, and not just with his impressive performances this season," said Horst Heldt. "He's extremely versatile, very ambitious and wants to achieve big things with Schalke. We're delighted he's opted for Royal Blue."

Sam was born in Kiel on 31 January 1988. He began his footballing career in his home town at TuS Mettenhof and had spells at FC Kilia Kiel and Holstein Kiel before joining the youth setup at Hamburg SV in 2004. While with the Red Shorts he made four Bundesliga appearances and one UEFA Cup appearance. In 2008 Sam joined FC Kaiserslautern on loan, scoring 14 goals in 59 second-division outings. He also made two DFB Cup appearances for the Red Devils (one goal).

Since joining Bayer Leverkusen at the start of the 2010/2011 season he has made 83 Bundesliga appearances (23 goals) and seven DFB Cup appearances (six goals). To this can be added ten outings in the Champions League (two goals) and 12 in the Europa League (three goals). Sam represented Germany at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level before making his senior international debut in a friendly against Ecuador on 29 May 2013. He has played for his country five times to date.[/article]

2.5 Million, what the fuck? I thought he was meant to be quite decent

Apparently, he has an exit clause. Contract is expiring in 2015. Leverkusen better have someone lined up. He's been quite a big part of their attacking plan.

Alan Judge - Brentford (loan)

[article=http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/judge-joins-the-bees-1282155.aspx?#7Xw4gV8qJpWzEHvA.99]Alan Judge has today joined Brentford on loan until the end of the season.

Since re-joining Rovers in the summer, the 25-year-old has found first team opportunities limited, making 12 appearances in the first half of the season. So has jumped at the opportunity to join the League One leaders until May 4th.

Boss Gary Bowyer has allowed the Irishman to move on loan but insists that Judge remains very much part of his long-term plans.

"Judge is a great lad and credit to him he is desperate to play," said Bowyer.

"It isn't about the money for him, he loves playing football, but at the moment with what we have got he hasn't been able to force his way in.

"It is a move that suits all parties, it will allow him to get some games under his belt for a good team. We'll monitor his progress and hope that he does well for them."

Judge has linked up ahead of the Bees weekend match against Port Vale at Griffin Park. Brentford have the option of extending the loan further if League One play-offs are required.[/article]

Magnus Wolff Eikrem - Cardiff (undisclosed fee, reportedly £2-3 million)

[article=http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/article/eikrem-signs-1282175.aspx#GyMoqKS1Yj6rBLi7.99]Cardiff City Football Club are pleased to announce the arrival of Norwegian International Magnus Wolff Eikrem from Dutch club Heerenveen.

The midfielder has today joined the Bluebirds for an undisclosed fee ahead of the Barclays Premier League match against West Ham at Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday. He will take squad number 15.

Speaking of his new signing, Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær said: “I’ve known Magnus for many years, having worked with him at Manchester United and then signing him for Molde. While I was there I had to sell him as he was our best player - and now I feel lucky to get to sign him again for Cardiff City for a reasonable price. I see this as money well spent.

“He’s a playmaker, a quarterback if you will, someone who likes to get on the ball and can see a pass. He’s technically very good, including set pieces and has great vision. Magnus will add a lot to Cardiff City and will blend in very well with the midfielders in the squad.”[/article]

"Not wishing to be mischievous - and I have been categorically told by people close to owner Vincent Tan that he doesn't favour the number eight in the birthdate, as reported - but Eikrem's birthday is 8/8/1990.

The 20-year-old can play on either wing and has been with the Sky Bet League 1 club since the age of ten.

The Wolverhampton youngster has made 11 appearances this season, including one in the FA Cup against Oldham Athletic.

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett, said: “Zeli is a player who we have seen a lot when we’ve been to watch games at Molineux over the last year.

“He had a good spell at MK Dons last season and has featured in the first team for Wolves this season.

“Zeli can play on either wing and up front and he will offer us something different and hopefully have a big impact here.

“I am really excited to see him come and play for us, he has lots of tricks and pace and will cause problems for the opposition,” added Rowett.

Ismail will be cup-tied for Albion’s FA Cup tie against AFC Bournemouth on January 14 after appearing for Wolves in their 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Oldham Athletic.[/article]

Michael Jacobs - Wolves (undisclosed fee)
jacobs-signing-4x367-1281109_478x359.jpg

[article=http://www.wolves.co.uk/news/article/wolves-take-the-michael-080114-1281111.aspx#8AyU00lVv86X3jkm.99]Michael Jacobs has sealed a permanent move to Wolves after revealing his loan spell at Molineux has “rekindled his love of football”.

The 22-year-old winger moves from Derby for an undisclosed fee and has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal, with a further year’s option in the club’s favour.

Having enjoyed his spell with the Rams, Jacobs found first team opportunities limited at Pride Park hence his delight at getting regular football during his Wolves loan spell in which he has made nine appearances, scoring one goal.

Jacobs, who completed the final stages of his medical last night, says: “I feel I have got better with every game and have enjoyed having that consistency with playing.

“I’ve benefitted from having four games in eight days over Christmas as well.

“I feel like I’ve rekindled my love for football again which maybe I’d lost a little over the last six to eight months.

“Being given an opportunity here has helped me and I feel I’m playing with a lot more confidence.

“I have always had faith in my ability but when you are not playing regularly you do wonder whether you are good enough.

“Getting an opportunity as I have done here has filled me with confidence.

“I leave Derby with good memories.

“I would class it as a learning curve for me going from League Two football into the Championship.

“I was playing alongside some top class players and it made me grow up.

“The lads there were great and I made some very good friends.

“The experience I had with Derby has been very important for me and I think it was a time in footballing-terms when I turned from a boy into a man.

“They were good times and I will miss a lot of the people there but I think it is the right time in my career to take on a new challenge at Wolves.

“I think it is the place to be at the moment for me.”

Whilst there was no agreement in place for a permanent deal at the start of Jacobs’ loan spell, he has revealed that the carrot was dangled by Head Coach Kenny Jackett that if he impressed, Wolves would try and do a deal.

“At the start of the loan the gaffer said to me he wanted me to come here and prove I deserved a permanent move,” said the winger.

“It was never set in stone from the off but I’m delighted that I’ve managed to achieve it.

“Initially it was a chance to come and play some games which I have really enjoyed and the boys have made me feel really welcome.

“I’m really delighted.

“I first heard last week that it might be in the pipeline but with all the games taking place over Christmas and New Year it was difficult to get all the discussions done.

“So it was all in the background a little bit until the window re-opened and my loan was up.

“I’m really pleased to have turned my loan into a permanent move and have really enjoyed playing some football here.

“Hopefully now I can pick up from where I have left off over the last few weeks and produce some decent performances.”

And Jacobs is confident that he is joining Wolves at an exciting time as Jackett continues to reshape the squad with promotion the season’s aim.

He adds: “There is a lot of hard work to be done but I think at a club like Wolves if you can get up once there is the potential to go again.

“Promotion has to be our main objective this season and anything else would be a major disappointment.

“These are exciting times and I think with the new lads that come in there is a fresh impetus.

“The young lads that have come in have done well too – the likes of Ethan and Jack Price since I came in.

“With that blend of youth and experienced and adding new faces to the squad here already, I think the gaffer is building a really good squad.

“We should be capable of being up at the top end of League One pushing for promotion.

“I know there have been a couple of bad years for the club and for the fans but the feeling I get now is that the only place it is heading is up.

“We’ve just got to make sure we start picking up some decent results and get on a good run in the next few weeks.”[/article]

Djibril Cisse - Bastia (free transfer)
1-IMG_7762.jpg

[article]Newly signed SC Bastia striker Djibril Cissé has spoken of his plans to help the Corsican side back into the top half of the table while fulfilling his personal objective of getting a France recall ahead of next summer's World Cup.

Following the termination by mutual consent of his contract with Kuban Krasnodar (Russian D1), former Auxerre and Marseille striker Djibril Cissé has returned to Ligue 1 after five-and-a-half years away. Following stints with Panathinaikos, Lazio and QPR before heading to Russia, Cissé says he is delighted to be back in France, where he has signed with Corsican side SC Bastia until the end of the 2014-15 season.

"I'm very happy to be here," he beamed at his unveiling at Bastia's Stade Armand-Cesari. "I'm ambitious. We have what it takes to be in the top ten. That's a completely reasonable and achievable goal. What's more, we have several players who can supply me with great passes - that was a key factor in my deciding to come here."

Cissé, 32, counts 94 Ligue 1 goals to his name, and sees the objective of passing the 100 mark as a way of helping not only his team but himself too.

"To be honest, bagging my 100th Ligue 1 goal is very important to me," explained Cissé. "I remember that when I was young, I would watch my big brother Abou play in Ligue 1 and hope that one day I would be able to score just one goal! So, being in a position to score my 100th is a source of pride and I can't wait to do it."

Cissé will certainly need to start scoring goals if he is realise his other, loftier aim - earning a recall to the France squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"I'm always hungry - for victories, for titles, for goals," declared the speedy striker, whose 41st and most recent cap came in a 3-0 Euro 2012 qualifying win over Albania at the Stade de France in October, 2011. "I have an objective and everyone knows what it is. I love Les Bleus and I will do all I can to rejoin them."

Cissé will wear the number 12 and, according to his coach Frédéric Hantz, should make his Bastia debut in the Coupe de France's round of 64 at home to Evian on Sunday, January 5.[/article]

McLaughlin signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2011 and in 2013 earned a new contract at Anfield after continuing to impress in the Under 21 side.

He made his unofficial first team Liverpool debut in a pre-season tour game against AS Roma in 2012 and was given the task of man-marking Italian legend Francesco Totti.

The right-back is a tough competitor who likes to get forward and create goal-scoring opportunities.

Ryan McLaughlin is looking forward to getting some first team action with Barnsley.“It’s great to be here and there are some good games coming up which I am looking forward to being involved in.

“I like to get forward, it’s a good part of my game, but obviously if you’re a right back your first job is defending and to be solid in defence.

“I’ve been training with some fantastic players at Liverpool and that can only bring you on and improve you as a player which I now want to be able to take into here and to play some great football at Barnsley.

“While I’m here I want to be playing as much football as I can and do well for the team. Hopefully I’ll be able to provide more attacking options going forward and chip in with a few assists and goals and help bring us up the table.”

McLaughlin's loan deal will be up to and including 8th February when Barnsley will play Ipswich Town.

He has been given the squad number 27.[/article]

[article=http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/article/chuba-akpom-signs-09.01.14-1283392.aspx#RO87oeH3Hu5PJF1Z.99]Brentford have signed England Under-19 international striker Chuba Akpom on loan from Arsenal.

The 18-year-old linked up with The Bees this morning and completed his move to Griffin Park.

He will remain with Brentford until February 9.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “I am delighted to welcome Chuba to the Club for what will be his first loan spell away from his home club.

“I have enjoyed watching Chuba's development over the last two seasons and particularly noticed his contribution for Arsenal in the NextGen Series tournament.

“He is a strong, quick player with an excellent touch and good vision and I am sure he will make a valuable contribution to the squad in the weeks ahead.

“I would very much like to thank Arsenal for their most professional and prompt response to our request to take Chuba.”

Chuba has been with Arsenal since he was six-years-old and has progressed through the youth ranks at the North London club.

He made his Premier League debut in September and also played in Arsenal’s Capital One Cup win over West Bromwich Albion later that month, converting a penalty as The Gunners won a shoot-out.

He has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 level.

Chuba scored five goals in 13 Under-17 internationals and has six in 11 Under-19 internationals so far.

He played for Arsenal’s Under-18 side when he was just 15 and has played for The Gunners at both Under-21 and Under-18 level this season.

Chuba has scored three goals in four games in the UEFA Youth League this term and his last outing saw him score a hat-trick for Arsenal’s Under-18s in an FA Youth Cup win against Peterborough United.[/article]

Good first addition by Solskjaer that could well prove to be a bargain. When I saw him in the Milk Cup when he was 16 I thought he'd go on to be a top class footballer, it'll interesting now to see how he progresses at Cardiff.

The 31 year-old striker first joined in February 2004 from West Ham, making 177 appearances and scoring 64 goals before leaving to join Portsmouth in January 2008. The England international was re-signed a year later and has since made 185 appearances, scoring 78 goals.

"Everybody knows how much this Club means to me and I will play my heart out for the team and the fans until my last kick for the Club. I have had a fantastic time here and the fans have always been amazing to me," said Jermain.

"I am grateful for the opportunity for myself and my family to experience living overseas and for me to play in the MLS with a contract that will take me to the age of 35. I have no doubt I shall be coming back as a fan supporting the team in the years to come too."

Head Coach Tim Sherwood added: "This is a great opportunity for Jermain and he feels it is one that he wishes to pursue. He has played a big part in the Club for many years and we all know he will give his best until his last minute in a Spurs shirt.

"We have several attacking options within our squad for the remaining dozen or so games of the season after Jermain departs and we shall keep our options under review. We also have a goal threat from players in other areas of the pitch including having wide players and attacking midfielders who will enable us to vary our shape when required."

[article=http://www.leedsunited.com/news/article/lu9y3q5rm3hx1hsmqd84nhoer/title/jimmy-completes-united-move#sthash.XToMmNz7.dpuf]Crystal Palace winger Jimmy Kebe is the second January signing to arrive at Leeds United.

The 29-year-old joins on an initial loan deal until the end of the season with the option of a permanent deal in the summer.

Kebe, who has played in the Premier League for both Reading and Crystal Palace, is well-known to United manager Brian McDermott and was part of his promotion winning squad at the Madejski Stadium in 2012.

The United manager said: “Jimmy is a player that I scouted from France in 2006. He has fantastic pace, he is a real team player, and he made and scored goals for us in the Championship and the Premier league. I’m delighted he’s come on board and I’m really looking forward to working with him again.”

Kebe, who started his career in France and had spells with Lens, Chateauroux, and Boulogne, made almost 200 appearances for Reading before making the move to Palace last summer.

He is another player identified by the United manager as a key January target, and Elland Road chairman Salah Nooruddin was delighted the board could assist.

“Jimmy Kebe is a player well known to Brian and we’re delighted to have agreed a deal both with the player and Crystal Palace,” said the chairman.

This week’s double arrival sees a further financial commitment of a seven-figure sum from the club's prospective new owners Sport Capital.[/article]

Everton announce the signing of Aiden McGeady with the winger brought onto the pitch before kick-off.

[article=http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2014/01/11/blues-swoop-for-mcgeady]Everton have further boosted their attacking options with the capture of Aiden McGeady from Spartak Moscow.

The Republic of Ireland winger joins for an undisclosed fee from the Russian side to add even more attacking flair and creativity to Roberto Martinez's high-flying side.

The former Celtic man, 27, arrives with a host of international and Champions League experience and has penned a four-and-a-half year deal.

Some reports had suggested McGeady would arrive on Merseyside this summer when his contract with Spartak was set to expire but Blues boss Martinez worked hard to secure an immediate permanent transfer.

His arrival was revealed to a packed Goodison Park when the player took to the pitch moments before Saturday’s Premier League clash with Norwich.

In his six years at Celtic he was named the club's Young Player of the Year three times and won four Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish League Cups and two Scottish Cups. He was also voted Scotland's best player by his fellow professionals in 2008, picking up the SPFA's Players' Player of the Year prize.

That form prompted a £9.5m switch to the Russian capital where he quickly became a regular for Spartak, helping them to second in the league in 2011/12.

His switch to Goodison Park sees him link-up with international teammates Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Darron Gibson.[/article]
