Divock Origi would like January move.

I think this might just be the most unlikeable team we've had since the darkest Souness days. I'm not counting the Roy Hodgepodge days as I refuse to accept that cunt was ever our manager.

I wouldn't say they were unlikeable, I'd say soft. The exact opposite of someone like Steve McMahon in that clip vs Arsenal you posted. We need some players with grit and drive. I reckon we're too nice.

Ideally I'd agree, but we didn't manage to find any in the summer. That's why we ended up with Balotelli.
I'd say that had more to do with our scouting/transfer committee's incompetence at times than the availability of proven strikers.

Seydou Doumbia has been a name for several years now.

Could also go after an experienced player like Ba or Defoe. I think those sorts of players would be far more likely to improve us than Origi right now, especially considering we have so many issues at the moment.

Agreed. We have too many players looking around for someone else to take the game by the scruff of the neck. It's you, you muppet. you're the ones meant to be doing it! Whisper it, but until Stevie goes no one will have the balls to take the initiative. That's why we're sometimes better when he's out injured. Others have to step up.

If @gkmacca doesn't reply to this with *that* photo I'll be very upset.

Not if they paid us to take him for the year. Which presumably they did with the low fee we paid for him.

Yes, obviously we'd have to pay the termination fee, but what I mean is, surely that can be arranged outside of the transfer window, as it's not technically a transfer.

Oh right, yeah. That makes sense in theory.

But I'm guessing when we sorted this out, we had to give them some assurances that we wouldn't take him without notice, and we'd only do it in January.

I think it's the transfer of registration you technically can't do outside the window, unless it's specifically allowed for under the loan deal. Something along those lines, anyway.

I don't think a youngster with a record of one goal every five-and-a-half games in France is the answer to our problems. Sure, he has promise, but we won't be doing anyone any favours by bringing him here in January. If anything he could do with another season in France after this one. If he thinks his game is better suited to the Premier League than the vastly inferior Ligue 1 then I think he might be in for a nasty surprise. If he can't score there, I don't think he'll fare much better here, and he'll have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Fuck Mario off and get a proper striker and leave this kid to develop without the burden of expectation that will face him here.

I wouldn't bring him back in January. It would be unfair to lump on pressure on a 19 year old kid still learning his trade. Rodgers and FSG need to buy a proven striker and if that means binning off Balotelli so be it

Sell Borini and add a proven striker in January. Add Origi this summer and bin either Lambert or Balotelli, or both.

The football we are playing might in fact be better suited to showcasing Origi's attacking talents than the ultra-defensive "lump it forward" football Lille are playing. I would bring him back in January for sure. But also we should try to buy someone like Berahino.

I am not giving up on Balotelli either. He needs to keep working hard and his talent will come through eventually.
