Do we need to talk about Coutinho?

Code for: 'We'll try to get a move in the summer'.

75M and not a penny less ! Followed by an improved contract for 2016/17 with a 65M buyout clause. Then when Klopp takes us to the title it'll all be forgotten.

He'd get lost in the shuffle at Barca if he went there any time soon. He's still only what 23? On the one hand he's ludicrously talented, but on the other he's very inconsistent. He could and should be outstanding someday (like Silva). I know sometimes the movement ahead of him is not good enough and other times teams double up on him, but the very best players find ways around this. Hopefully Klopp can get the best out of him.

He's ace in many ways, but he's the same level as we are currently.

He is nowhere near good enough for Barca. He could well be, but he'd fail there now cos he isn't consistent enough & there's nowhere near enough end product for a team like that.

It's OK we we have Adam Banana who will look totally revitalised under Klopp..

People will be comparing him to the likes of Sneijder in his prime this time next year..

I don't think Coutinho is "all that",

There... I said it.

For a player who has all the skill and technique to be unpredictable, he's maddeningly predictable. It used to be that he'd get the ball on the left outside the area and then either try to slip the ball inside at an angle between a couple of defenders, or snatch at a shot and drag it low and wide. Then he acquired an addiction to trying to whip the ball into the top corner. He really needs to get the opposition guessing much more often than he does. And his decision-making needs to improve dramatically. So the only thing the new Paul Daniels should be doing is working hard on the training ground.

I think he will be sold and we will buy

So there have been a few links to Barca recently and yesterday a bit of a nonsense 50M link to City in one of the British tabloids.

Is there anything in it? How bothered are we?

I said earlier in the season that he looks a bit fucked off. Not sure if I've been misreading the whole situation but it wouldn't really surprise me if he pushes hard for an exit should an opportunity arise.

Not worried in the slightest. He's nowhere near good enough/ready for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Coutinho and his agent confirmed that he is happy at Liverpool and plans a long stay.

Make him the mainstay and lets win some silverware.

Not arsed. Let him go for 50 mill and buy Hummels and Reus instead. With maybe a few bob the other way. Or Loren.

Hes still to make the step up from good to great. He has talent but uses it too infrequently at the moment. I dont think he would get near Barcas first team so I reckon thats just chatter l but City would be a genuine worry as I think Silva will go back to Spain soon and Nasri will be moved on.

Neither of them will come to Liverpool (ditto Gündoğan). They may love Klopp but they will have better options if they want to move on.
