All "Fuck 'em, they're all dickheads" sentiments aside, I have to say I've felt sorry for a few of our players this season and whether in jest or not, I've seen others say the same.

Sure, you could say that nobody has been perfect and they all need to take responsibility but we know that some deserve blame more than others.

It must be incredibly frustrating to bust your ass each week knowing that you'll likely be let down again.

And knowing that are you as likely to give that little bit extra? How easy is to keep the faith in those around you and the manager in particular?

I'd be fucking furious. And if any half decent offer came in, I'd want out.

We owed it, not just to the fans, but to the players worth something at the club, to sort things out.

The only ones I feel for are mane and salah, because they're clearly much better than us

Coutinho is still as inconsistent as ever, like our good selves. Match made in hell

Heh, you're never going to change your mind re: Coutinho, eh?

He's our best player and it will suck to lose him, which we've made doubly sure of this season.

When he's consistent I'll cut him slack

I still think mane is our best player, and mo salah ain't too far off if he keeps this form up all season

Can and Coutinho have been shit. They both are doing next to fuck all.

Oh yeah lets feel sorry for the poor multi millionaires. None of them hate losing enough to give a fuck. You can't play Maribor every week and apart from Arsenal every good team we've played against this season hasn't lost and some shite teams haven't lost against us either.

I didnt think Klopp had it in him to trail Lovren off so early and now this tweet, maybe we're about to see some strangulation instead of hugging

I bet if we just picked two CBs from some random northern European team for a couple of mil they’d be better than ours.

We've handed out a fair few of these beatings in the last few years to top teams especially Spurs.

Now we know how it feels.

Everyone knows our players aren't good enough including Klopp, hopefully he starts sorting it out pronto

excluding Klopp.

How long is pronto anyway; another 3 years? Watching the match yesterday reminded me of teaching kids to learn songs by 'following the bouncing ball'. Perhaps we can start there.

With pretty much the same set of players.

Has everyone just gotten that much better, have we been "found" out or is something not quite right with the team at the moment (suggesting it's fixable)?

Maybe all of the above.

At the end of last season we played a less gung ho style and we grinded out results if you remember. What the united game showed was we can still create chances despite defending a little more. This seaso when teams are playing us the more or less give up having the ball because they know they cannot compete. But our attack play is just generally utter shot and predictable and the only way of scoring against those defensws is players to draw them out of position by drawing them out and creating space for others or generally passing and moving faster in funal third. I say we could improve our current situation by actually doing what we did last season at the end.

The team doesn't feel very disciplined or focused, imo that's where we might be going wrong. I'm not totally sure how to best get that into players, I guess it's from the training ground and preparation - tactics and repetition and also from the top down, the attitude of the non playing staff.

Under Rafa it felt like we could be set up to take on anyone, Mourinho for all his boring football rarely gets hammered in such an embarrassing fashion. Someone else has mentioned this name and I feel it too, it all feels very Wengerish.

The players aren't even achieving the minimum of being solid and making no mistakes, do we just play five a sides every training session? If the players aren't up to the game we're trying to play then the manager needs to change it to something they can play until he's recruited who we need.

Bah. We have some skillful attacking players in a attacking system. In this same system, our defenders would need to be exceptional, and they are anything but. If we had a defensive system, and competent defenders, we would instead be let down by the poor finishing of many of these players, given that they'd have fewer chances.

I'm not sure Salah for instance, who is a great buy for our system, shows any indication of being as good as his goal return suggests. He's just a great fit, and a great buy. His short passing is inconsistent, and his finishing is mediocre or poor. These things tighten up, and maybe you have an argument. You put coutinho, as good as he is, in a more defensive system, and he'll get lost in far more games. There's a difference between players like these and players whose quality seems to exist in any context.

We have zero of those. The shit thing about this season is that our team ISNT that awful, and it even improved in some ways, but it didn't improve in any of the most important ways, and now we just have to make do while it slips away.

The problems with the defence have gone on so long now (pre-Klopp for a lot of them), that it hands a psychological disadvantage to our back five. Fans and pundits expect fuck-ups from them in every game and 95% of the time they are delivering, while it's a real surprise when they put in a good performance.

We attack well, but not enough to cover up the shite at the back. I think we need to curb some of our attacking instincts in order to give more protection and hopefully a bit of confidence to the defensive half of side.

The more we lurch from one extreme to another, the more fragile this becomes. The personnel isn't going to change for at least another two months, so we need a system to suit what we've got.

The squad will have taken some confidence from the Utd game, but Utd didn't come to play. They'll have taken some confidence from the Maribor game, but, let's be honest, Maribor were absolute toss. None of that confidence will remain after yesterday.

Man, maybe it's something in the club itself, fragility seems to have been synonymous with LFC for the best part of a decade now.

There's alot wrong with us as a collective at the minute. Players not turning up (and its a long list) is killing us.

I don't even think we are even setup to all out attack as before contrary to what the press have been saying. We have been trying to keep ourselves compact now and it's always safety first.

We only have 2 routes of attack, a long ball to find Salah, or pass it to Coutinho. Nobody else is taking any responsibilities. We are no longer throwing bodies into the box from midfield. The quick interchange of passes high up the pitch is gone as well. So is the gegen pressing.

I think Klopp has already tried to address our defensive problem, by doing that he has sacrificed a little on the attacking side. Technically it should make it harder to score against us, it is just that we have players who makes too many mistakes.

We used to score 3 and concede 3, now we can't score but is still conceding.

The attacking players should be excluded from the blame game. They largely create and do their jobs.
I disagree with this, a smidge. In possession, yes, they are largely doing their job. However I think in Klopp's system the attackers are the first line of defence and it's quite a while since I've seen our attackers pressing with as much passion and commitment, when they lose possession, as last season. Everyone we play seems to have more time on the ball than last term. I wonder if this Lesserpressing is by design in order to prevent last year's post Christmas collapse or if we just really really miss Lallana.
