Mirror is linking us to Danny Drinkwater @ 14 mill after he impressed this season as a CM.

Stupid summer nonsense? or a potential improvement on Lucas/Allen?
 
Can see why people would be underwhelmed by this but Drinkwater is a really good player. Excellent range of passing, reads the game well, is strong in the tackle and is a real battler.

I can't see this one coming off though. He's just won the League with Leicester, is going to be playing Champions League, he's a massive Manc etc. Doesn't seem like a goer at all but I wouldn't be unhappy if I was wrong on that.
 
Joe Allen was a Manc too before we signed him, but there's nothing wrong with his commitment - on the contrary he's one of our most improved players. This would be a good signing if we pulled it off.
 
Unless Leicester want to sell one of their better players, why would anyone from Leicester want to come and play for LFC next season? The only Leicester players that would transfer to a team not in the CL are mercenaries out for it for the money (and we don't want those) or non-first team regulars that want more playing time.
 
Bit difficult to reject players on the basis that they're mercenaries. Who would we ever sign if we did that?

As far as leaving Leicester to come to us is concerned: which club do you honestly think has the bigger future now that Klopp's in charge here?

Potential mistake if we buy him. Similar to the decision to sign Downing & Keane previously. Good elsewhere but destined to flop once at Liverpool.
 
Its one position that we should be looking at spending significant sums of money. I consider it one of the most crucial positions on the pitch and filling it with another uninspiring steady Eddie is daft.

We need a key player in that role.
