The league still isn't that great but it is pretty amazing to see some of the stars (admittedly all past their prime) who have made the jump to the states.

Gerrard, Kaka, Lampard, Pirlo, David Villa, and now Drogba. Throw in guys like Robbie Keane and Giovinco as well for some added class.

I watched Pirlo's debut for NYCFC yesterday and it was very surreal seeing him play in the MLS. Same goes for Gerrard when I have seen him play for the Galaxy.

They're making the same mistakes the Cosmos made with Pele, Beckenbauer etc ... You're getting 30+ year old legends who take away valuable experience from the younger American talents, who then get stuck.

There is a crazy difference in wages paid to the star players compared to the local players.

Always thought it would be the ideal setup for one last big payroll. Compared to the Qatars or Chinas of this world, a veteran player can still enjoy posh settings in New York or LA, not have to adapt to a new language (well if you're English).

It's the fans I can't stand. They're astoundingly ill-informed berks but they clearly think they're really clued-in. I saw one Galaxy fan, surrounded by his nodding mates, saying about Gerrard, 'He's not as good-looking as Beckham, but we will see how he plays...' Twats.

Remarkable.

Or if you are Kaka you can live in beautiful Orlando Florida

The fact Robbie Keane is the biggest star there says all you need to know about the quality

Gerrard, Kaka and Pirlo are all bigger stars than Robbie Keane.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently, highest rated and most successful.

Three league titles in four years and MVP last year for the league.

I've never got the Robbie Keane hate. Hes a decent footballer and comes across like a nice fella.

I quite like the MLS, its quite a entertaining league and it will get a lot better. The league was only formed in 1996 and it has progressed massively. You can criticise the league, but the states did a lot better than we did at the world cup. They play for the shirt and give 100%, something the England players could learn from.
