Flanno out for months

Just had knee surgery according to the Echo

Damn, that sucks. Should've been the season for him to kick on from a good return to form last season but now he's going to miss half of it instead. Bad news for the team as well - with Johnson and McLaughlin out injured, we're now down to playing first team players out of position or using untested players like Stewart (U-21) and Randall (U-18/U-21) if Manquillo gets injured / suspended now.

I suppose Manquillo will now be rested against Boro in the League Cup and one of Stewart / Randall will get their chance instead.

Not good news at all, and hopefully doesn't follow the same path as Kelly after he had injury problems.

Don't think he'll be that bad. Kelly's history was a lot worse, going back to his Academy / Reserve days. If anyone's at risk of being the second coming of Kelly, it's McLaughlin, though his spells out with injuries seem to be short but frequent, rather than a few long spells out with more serious issues *touch wood*

Carra bust his leg and walked off. (Lucas Neill, what a cunt). He'll be fine. My main concern is that a quality young local player with potential to play for us for a decade or more gets injured for months and only 6 comments? We get hundreds discussing injuries to players of other teams. Weird bunch.

I think the fact we're so happy with the M&M's means we're less upset about Flanno being out injured longer.

We ought to be though. We're down to 1 RB and 2 LBs, and I doubt either of Enrique or Moreno can play on the right. An injury or suspension to Manquillo and we're left with nobody there. Johnson's supposed to be able to restart training soon - I suppose that's not that great news but at least it's still better than playing Toure at RB.

We also have an option of playing Can at RB, if Manquillo and Johnson are unavailable.
