Anyone seen this site before? Learned about it after reading an article in the Guardian on Real Madrid having a buyback clause for Ozil (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jan/25/real-madrid-mesut-ozil-arsenal-buy-back-deal).

An article about the web site itself:

Anyway, I looked up Liverpool in the site, and the only deal I can find is the one for Ilori's transfer. Pretty interesting terms, if the document is real. Main things (if I read correctly):

-- Transfer fee: 4.8m euros

-- Add-ons: 1.5m euros (max), being: 500K euros per 15 matches Ilori plays for us in the league, FA Cup, League Cup, EL or CL

-- Sell-on clause: 25% of transfer fee payable to Sporting Lisbon if we sell Ilori to anyone for more than the transfer fee we paid Sporting Lisbon for him (i.e. if we sell him for more than 4.8m euros, they get 25% of the transfer fee)

-- "Buyback" clause: we have to notify Sporting Lisbon if we receive an acceptable offer for Ilori; Sporting Lisbon then has a 2-business day window to match the offer (minus 25% of the offer price if it's over 4.8m euros)

-- "Lockout" clause: we are not allowed to sell Ilori to any of Benfica, Porto or Braga before 10th Sep 2018 unless the transfer fee offered by any of them to us is at least 60m euros (hahahahaha). If a ludicrous offer of such value or higher (hahahahahahaha) is received, then Sporting Lisbon is entitled to 50% of the fee (instead of 25%). After 10th Sep 2018, this clause doesn't apply and we can sell to anyone (the buyback clause still applies).

Link to the document: https://footballleaks2015.wordpress.com/2015/12/03/tiago-ilori-sporting-liverpool/

So if this document is real, then the fees we paid are £3.6m rising to £4.8m.

Also interesting is the Martial fee and terms - 50m euros plus 30m in add-ons (based on targets met) plus a sell-on clause where the Mancs have to split 50-50 with Monaco any fees over 60m euros that they receive for selling Martial.

I found it yesterday in the same way you did.

Its about time info like this became public. Its a great insight into a clubs thinking at time

Most of these clauses appear to be "amount of money required to cover our arse and save us from possible future embarrassment and ridicule" rather than any real business acumen.

Or mad paranoia

Totally. That would be like us inserting a clause saying we get 20% of any future sell on fee, apart from if you sell to United or Chelsea, in which case it's 50%. And you can't sell him to Everton ever, and that's THAT.

This stuff is mad. Is it even legal? It essentially locks out the possible transfer of players to certain clubs, and restricts their options, after the actual sale.

Axel Witsel - from Benfica to Zenit.

The interesting bit is the part which granted Zenit an exclusive option for one transfer window on Nicolas Gaitan (20m euros) and Nelson Oliveira (30m euros). Both options were not taken up in the end; Gaitan is still at Benfica, while Oliveira has been out on loan forever.

Report on this, if you don't wish to read the document yourself:

What isn't mentioned in the report is that a subsequent addendum was signed more than a year later after this agreement. Zenit bought out Benfica's sell-on clause rights for 3m euros in this addendum. So that's 43m euros in total that Zenit paid Benfica for Witsel.

Just realized that Witsel's contract expires next summer. He'll be 28 by then though.
