Is it fair to claim that the team having the most players who individually can win you a game are the most likely to finish first in the league?

For instance, in our case if Sturridge is having a bad day we expect maybe someone like Coutinho to score a worldy and win us the game. Or Mané.

So which team in the prem currently has the most proven game winners?

I think the team that finishes top is probably the team that will win the league.

And, the team that has the most game winners could score the most goals and if they score the most goals and concede the least goals they'll have the best goal difference in the league.

Game winners? I think you mean match clinchers, Modo.

It depends on who turns up, but I'd say Man City at this moment in time. Man Utd looked to have bought quality on face of it, but it's more a change in attitude rather than in a change in personnel that will make the difference for them this year.

I think we are actually a bit light on the old match clinchers, hopefully the Burnley game was just a blip but we didn't half struggle to create anything meaningful without Sadio Mané-of-the-Match. Wijnaldum has added nothing of note so far in my opinion.

Interesting discussion, even without any link to the transfer window. At the moment for us, the three players you've named (possibly only two given Sturridge's travails) would be the ones most other teams would be wary of, because they can deliver something out of nothing, but we do seem to lack that "talisman" like Torres, Gerrard or Suarez in recent years, who could win a game for us when the rest of the team sink into timid mediocrity.

It's a bit depressing that after only three or four games, I'm already mentally dreading any Liverpool side that doesn't have Mane in it.

United have the most

Ibra, pogba, Rooney (although his powers are wayning... Boooo), rashford, martial

Urgh

With Pogba, Zlatan, Rooney, Mkhitaryan and potentially Rashford. I'd say that they are the ones to beat.

I forgot mkhitaryan

Urgg

I actually had the pleasure/displeasure of being in the North Stand at Hull for Hull vs Man Utd (brother is a big Hull fan). Mkhitaryan surprised me with how quick and direct he was after coming on, he added something extra after replacing Mata.

Oh add Mata

Chelsea: Costa, Hazard

Man C: Silva, Touré, Aguero, Sterling, De Bruyne, Nolito?

Arsenal: Sanchez, Walcott?

Tottenham: Kane, Eriksen?

Fuck me...
Pogba, Zlatan, Rooney, Mkhitaryan, Mata.
Rashford, Martial

They are still getting their shit together. Hull left vast gaping holes on their left flank all day with Diomandé drifting around wherever he pleased, Utd attacked centrally for the majority of the match.

A lot will depend on how Mourinho asks them to play, they won't gel on their own because of the space they all would prefer to occupy.

And the point is in the sentence : "Mkhtaryan came on for Mata"

Lots of quality and depth of squad. One game-changer not on form? Bring on another.

(Replying to myself here, but...) did anyone see the way the Man Utd fans celebrated when they scored? Honestly, you'd think they'd just won the league not beaten everyone's pick to go down. They broke through the advertising hoardings and a few made it out onto the pitch to celebrate with the team - it was seriously cringe-worthy stuff!

I don't see it as cringey. I see it as a team who gives a fuck about every single match

We need the mentality

Is Sterling any more of a match winner than Firmino or Origi?
Sterling and Coutinhno carried us during the good three months or so in Rodger's last full season.

Firmino and Origi haven't done that for us yet...

Oh trust me, it was cringey! And they robbed Hull of a good minute of extra time as I'm sure the ref blew early.

There's a difference between giving a fuck and wrecking a bit of the stadium and invading a pitch because you have beaten Hull!

If I were Hull, I'd get a structural engineer to condemn the entire stadium and then lawyer up.

There's only way one to classify a player as someone who can turn/win a match and that's goals/assists per mins played. And in that regard both Firmino and Origi are right up there.
