Need a LB and a CM if you ask me.....

Not sure our striking dept has got enough goals either.... will be a strange season me thinks.... have the feeling Coutinho is on his way after buying so many attacking midfielders.

Do you think they're good enough to get us in the CL?

Because really that's the aim. Once we are a fixture in the CL positions, then we can look at the likes of Higuain or Lewandoski. Until then, we'll be shopping in Tescos hoping for a few Mahrez/Kante type signings. I think Mane has the potential to do what Mahrez did and grab/assist 15/15 goals.

with fewer games, we already had a squad which could get us in the champions league. I think we've marginally improved the odds with these signings.

Meh. I do like him as a player and liked him for a few years (down to Footy Manager, admittedly).

But, just off the top of my head:

4 goals against Norwich
2 goals against us
2 goals against Spurs on the final day

That's 8 goals in 3 games. So 3 goals in 33. Bit average that isn't it?

Another average signing from a lower-level English club for over £20m, probably because they've played well against us. What do our scouts actually do? Surely we could have got practically the same player for about £8m from somewhere else?

I am prepared to eat my words if he does well, and I do think he will be decent, but I don't think he's going to set the world alight. And it's the abundance of these types of signings that has cemented our status as a mid-table side.

235 million spent on players from Sunderland,Villa,Southampton and Newcastle since 2011.

Foreign pronunciations kill me anyway. I have a polish girl working for me and she is constantly pulling me on how to say European cities.

Krakow - I call it "CRACK-OW" as you do. She says its actually "ROTZ-KLAW"

Fucking does my head in. ITS CRACK-OW!
Does she mean Wroclaw by chance?

Crack the cow then!

I feel like we're developing a really good counter attacking team with lots of pace and power that we'll never get to use because teams often sit back against us.

Just watched a compilation and there were quite a few Coutinho moments in the way he dribbles past players in midfield.

Not quite sure how he fits in. Can't help but think we might see some high profile departures because as things stand we are going to struggle to give everyone a decent number of games, surely...

I had this thought too, but in the end I think we shouldn't be worried too much about this for several reasons: one that Klopp doesn't emphasize possession and "control" in quite the same way as Rodgers and Rafa did, which almost forced the opposition to play that way against us. 2nd reason is that with Matip and other tall players we've added this summer we will improve on set-pieces, so there will be another way for us to break down stubborn defenses.

And finally, there may be too much money and ambition in the EPL for teams to defend in numbers the way they did a few years ago. Last season showed that it's possible for smaller teams to play without fear and win against any opponent, this season with all the top clubs in the rebuilding mode it will be more of the same.

Besides its not like pace and power are useless even in the scenario when we have possession. And even against the most defensive-minded teams in most games there still will be one or two opportunities to counter and you have to have the tools to take advantage.

What I also like about this guy is lots of his goals are arriving into a congested box. I can't remember the last midfielder we had who scored lots of headed goals in the box. Anyone?

Hardly any midfielders score lots of headers. Although most of them are probably in the box. Because it's hard to score headers from more than 18 yards out

OK, that's fair. Well, a midfielder who makes runs into the box and gets loads of headed goals. I suppose lil Luis got his share actually. Hmmm. Is he the new Garcia?

Gerrard and Lampard were the two best at that sort of late run into the box and finish in recent years

Nolan was another. Toure?

They're not really that common thinking about it

I can't remember that many headed goals from SG though, probably because he was usually the one crossing it. Istanbul obviously, and the odd corner where he was persuaded to go in the box.Did Lampard score many with his head? Garcia, Tim 'cunt' Cahill....
