OOHHHHH! The Humanity.

Y'all read it here first. 4:49pm Saturday 25th October 2014, Liverpool 4-0 Hull

Manquillo ------Skrtel-------Lovren---------Moreno

Let the full backs bomb on. Lallana to push up and link up with Lambert whenever he can.

My first move if it wasn't going to plan would be to sub Coutinho for Gerrard and push Sterling up top.

P.S. if I was @gkmacca I would have put in the name of a keeper in our youth setup. Someone in our club has to be better.

Its interesting how few of the team selections listed here include Gerrard, obviously I dont expect that to have any influence on Rodgers thinking but it does appear that he has reached a tipping point with many of the fans and his continued inclusion in the side is likely to become a source of frustration for many. Id like to see him eased out and used sparingly rather that played simply to appease a hard core of the support as his performances diminish to the point where his position becomes untenable

Is there any chance that Rodgers will rest Gerrard? It seems unlikely.

Allen and Henderson should play anyways. Gerrard or Can to make up the midfield.

It doesn't really matter who we play in defence. We'll concede unless the opposition are having a really bad day. I like Moreno so he should start. Other than that, I don't care.

Coutinho deserves to start on current form. Lallana too as he should be reasonably fresh and we could do with the extra running power. I'd rest Sterling. I don't like Borini but I'd play him out wide in a sort of Muller role and that also gives the option of switching to a diamond mid game. At least we'll get work ethic and runs out of him. I'd like to give Markovic a go but we can't afford another passenger given the state of our striker situation. Bring him on in the second half when hopefully there will be more space and less chance of him getting bullied off the ball.

I'm in two minds about who should start up front. I'm leaning towards persisting with Balotelli but would not be averse to giving Lambert a go.

My priority would be to pick a team that on the whole will work hard and fight for a win. We've not shown enough hunger in recent league games and that needs to be rectified.

As daft as it sounds, it start with just Borini up front. We miss energy and pace up front. Lambert can't score, nor Balo, and although Boroni is hardly Costa, he moves well, will press well and with his running, which I think is quite smart at times, he'll create opportunities for others if he doesn't score himself.

Before we got Balotelli, I had been pushing for using Sterling as a 4th, emergency striker if needed. I still think he can fill that role, so I'll go with this:

Mignolet
Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Gerrard Allen
Henderson Coutinho Lallana
Sterling

Sterling won't be an out and out striker reliant on others to supply him though. He'll occupy their backline from side to side, pull wide and draw the CB away, or drop deep to take the ball and run at his man; he's the closest thing to Sturridge that we have right now, minus the deadly finishing, which I think he's well capable of picking up on.

The onus will be on the three behind Sterling to make the runs into the box, or to complete the neat interplays with Sterling so he can do so - something which I think all three of them are capable of and (in the case of Lallana and Henderson) have demonstrated their ability to do this season (less so Coutinho because of his earlier form and because his role is usually to orchestrate outside the box).

That front four is excellent on the counter, pressing high up and recovering the ball, and tracking back, dropping down to defend. If we want to play at speed and with a high tempo, that's the quartet I'll use until Sturridge returns. I'd hazard a guess that we will also start seeing improvements in Markovic's performances if / when we can consistently get a high-tempo game going.

Last year I stated I would be surprised to get top 4 and at best top 6. Well I was totally surprised! That was history.

This year I will be surprised we will be top 6. So now I just want to win a game at a time and celebrate some wins along the way. Yeah next Hull.

Which six teams do you think will finish above us?

Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Southampton, Everton, and sad to say even Man Utd can finish above us.

Don't really think it's that as much as we recognise that 3 games a week is too much for him at 34 yrs old.

Games against mid-table also rans is exactly why big clubs have big squads and I hope Mr. Rodgers uses the opportunity to finally rest Gerrard. With the leagues plus decent runs in the cups, the club is facing 50+ completive games this season and if he is not spared a few games he will burn out or break which is not good for anyone. Hull are arriving without their top scorer, Jelavic, one of their best defenders, Dawson and neither of their two first choice goalies through injuries, they should be weakened enough for us to try something different. Can, Allen & a fired up Captain Henderson should be strong enough to deny Huddlestone & Diamé the ball and space, plus they each have the energy to push forward and cover back. Balotelli should be dropped, not rested but dropped. There has to be a couple of goals in Lallana, Coutinho & Lambert. If we better a West Ham win against Man City by a few goals we will be in fourth place for at least the week. That'd be nice,........ lovely in fact.

Mignolet
Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Can
Henderson Allen
Lallana Coutinho
Lambert/Borini
Subs: Sterling, Gerrard, Marković, Balotelli, Johnson Toure & Jones

Bascombe : Rest Stevie for Swansea. I'd rest Sterling. Balo certainly shouldn't start. I'd play Lambert otherwise what's the point (Pearce agreed with him). Like to see Markovic. Sturridge - more likely to be 4 weeks out (last time he was supposed to be out for 4 and was gone for 6 weeks). Johnson out of contract and won't take a pay cut but is still a very very good player with great ability but will probably join Cashley in Roma next season (laughs). WIN 2-1 and similar to the WBA game, doing just enough. All that matters is the 3 points.

Pearce : Lambert, Lallana, Sterling should start (unless tiredness is an issue) and bring him off later. Can could start. Expect a shake-up but also a tough game. Johnson is still BR's #1 RB. Maybe Manquillo should start this one after 2 games on the spin for Johnson after injury. Expect CBs won't change. WIN 2-1.

West Ham?
Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Southampton, Everton, and sad to say even Man Utd can finish above us.

West ham? That's pessimism gone mad mate. Things can only get better.

4-2-3-1 for me.

Ming

Manquillo
Lovren
Skrtel (Sakho if fit)
Moreno

Henderson
Allen

Lallana
Coutinho
Sterling

Balotelli.

Like I wrote before, 4-2-3-1 has never worked for us under Rodgers. I would stick with 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond (when we have 2 decent strikers who complement each other's game). For now definitely 4-3-3.

I think I'd play Borini. I hate the fact that Sterling is being played so much, but without him, we don't look like scoring. I'd rest Gerrard.

Run with this:

--------------------------Mignolet
Manquillo------Skrtel--------Lovren-------Moreno
---------------------------Allen
---------------Henderson------Coutinho
-------------Sterling----Borini----Lallana

The midweek League Cup game against Swansea is the time to rest Sterling, so no reason not to push him hard this game. Hull has been a tricky opponent for Arsenal and City this season, so I'd prefer us to face them with our most in-form players. The likes of Can, Markovic, Borini, etc. can start against Swansea next week while Henderson and Sterling get their rest.

@PeterPhillips_: Team v Hull ...Mingolet Manquillo Lovren Skrtle Moreno Lallan Gerrard Hendo Couthino Sterling Borini #lfc

Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Southampton, Everton, and sad to say even Man Utd can finish above us.

And other than Chelsea (100%) and City (80%) we can also finish ahead of all of them as well...

If Borini does start tomorrow I really hope he gets a goal to settle his nerves. It doesn't matter who it is, we need a striker to hit a hot-streak.
