How do you know who the 'transfer committee' players are? Seriously this gets trotted out all of the time but how do you guys know who the transfer committee signings are and who the Rodgers signings are? Is it just guesswork or do you actually have inside knowledge?

OK, let's put it another way. Which of these players we have signed since Rodgers arrived is a 1st team regular (the ones in red have been sold) :

Simon Mignolet (£9m)
Philippe Coutinho (£8.5m)
Daniel Sturridge (£12m)
Joe Allen (£15m)
Fabio Borini (£11m)
Luis Alberto (£6m)
Thiago Ilori (£7m)
Iago Aspas (£5m)
Oussama Assaidi (£2.5m)
Nuri Şahin (loan)
Samed Yesil (£1m)
Kolo Toure (free)
Aly Cissokho (loan)
Victor Moses (loan)
Adam Lallana (£25m)
Dejan Lovren (£20m)
Rickie Lambert (£3m)
Nathaniel Clyne (£12m)
Christian Benteke (£32.5m)
James Milner (Free)
Mamadou Sakho (£18m)
Lazar Markovic (£20m)
Mario Balotelli (£16m)
Alberto Moreno (£12m)
Javier Manquillo (Loan)
Divock Origi (£10m)
Firmino (£21m - £29m)
Emre Can (£10m)
Joe Gomez (£3.5m)
Alex Bogdan (Free)
Danny Ings (TBD)

Of that lot, only Coutinho so far as I can tell has been signed from abroad and is a permanent fixture. All the other foreign-based players have been moved on or are on the fringes, probably the next ones to be dumped, or just signed. Is there a trend here?

We just don't seem capable of bringing in players from abroad who make an impression or can develop into 1st teamers. After a while, you may surmise that the manager has a little share of the responsibility for this failing - not only is he the last word on signings, by his own admission, he is also the sole decision-maker on selection.

The list is frightening actually, no wonder we are so fucking ordinary.

Yeah and that's all fine but it doesn't correlate to who were the so-called committee signings and who were the also so-called Rodgers' signings.

So it's guesswork.

No. It's a case built using facts and logic. I say built but that overstates the effort I made in coming to it. My brain was able to process the various data pretty much instantly.

I'm baffled that I have to explain if to anyone. I think they must either be very thick or very dishonest.

That's a fucking brilliant post.

Rodgers is the new Souness. Don't have the tactical knowledge to solve a problem so he tries to buy players to solve it. If something fails then it is never his fault.

If a young player don't deliver straight away then it is bye bye and he is replaced by a new young player and if he don't deliver straight away........

If you are signed from another league then you have more or less no chance. How long time before Origi and Moreno is off? I doubt that Firmino will be a Liverpool player next season because he will be tired being played out of position. How long time before Coutinho moves to Barcelona or Real Madrid, will it be next summer?

Rodgers out.

At the moment they only have the option to buy him after a loan spell. If he does well enough then i'm sure we'll take him back with open arms and cancel their option. Is that allowed?

I asked this and no one is answering ... We be fucked if he's good.

Can't say for sure, but I remember it being said quite a lot during the great loan with option to buy saga of Alberto Aquiliani that options to buy aren't binding, for either party. I'd imagine if we didn't want to sell him at the end of the loan, we wouldn't.

If he's gone on loan for a million quid and he's dead good then how come a top Portuguese sides weren't in for him? How come Sporting Lisbon didn't come back for him? How come he hardly ever played for them when he was there?

I know how easy it is to call Rodgers a nob. Here. Rodgers is a nob. But the reality is he's probs not good enough.

Regardless of anything else Illori has to agree to the move too. If he has a blinder of a season we just 'guarantee' him game time for the next season and he turns them down. Job's a good 'un.

Rodgers is often feted as a developer of young players but he's not really is he. Buys them then discards them pretty quickly.
I wonder if this is something he learned under maureen seeing as he appears to be a 5th Dan black belt in the art of moving people on .

And that our new manager wants to keep him.

So did he actually go to Villa? I'll await Binny's update in his thread.

I think it's more like having first option, or first refusal if you like, in the event of the player being for sale.

Well I was hoping it was that kind of loose agreement, but it worries me that a certain price - £7m - has already been cited. You don't have that with an informal option.
