The thing is out of everyone at our disposal , crocked or not (in CM) his ceiling is far higher than everyone else's

I also think he's captain material going forwards , or at least more so than everyone else currently at the club and I certainly think Can + X is the answer to our midfield problem

if he can build upon this season , after signing into a new contract , you would imagine we would get muchos coin for him in 12 months time as he's built for dominating the continent

You mean in the future.

Can took a long time last season to find some form, but he found it - and it was really when Hendo was injured and the DM spot was his own. I don't think he can work in any of the other positions.

The season before I thought he was very good. A good Can is an asset to our midfield, and if Hendo is likely to be injured or rested throughout the season then we should be keeping him in the squad.

We should be doing everything in our power to sign Can down to a long-term contract. Clearly he's more valuable to us if he ever does want to leave or a club comes in with a sizeable offer if he's under a long-term contract.

But moreso because he's a very good, and hugely promising young midfielder. They don't turn up out of nowhere, and when you do find them they're worth a fortune.

Leipzig qre quoting 50M for this Keita chap, who has done far less than Can. Pogba goes for 89M, and no one can tell me he's an infinitely better player than Can.

Well whilst in agreement with the gist of that post there is no way Keita can be said to have done far less than Can, having been one of the players of the season in Germany and credited as the player of RBL's season, taking them to the BL runners-up spot. As for Pogba not being so much better than Can I can only suggest you haven't seen enough of him. His performance re. England recently a perfect example compared to his mis-use by Mourinho.

I'm not sure anyone would use the word "infinitely" when attempting a comparison of two football players, unless trying to make some extreme point, but there's no doubt that Pobga is a far superior footballer to Can.

But Can hasn't done much to convince me about his quality or required level of consistency, which is why we need a top quality CM. If Can stays great, but either way it's reassuring to know we've at least been linked with Keita.

I'm a big Emre Can fan and I would be loathe to see him go.

On Pogba, clearly the lad has talent, but is he a top player? I'm not sure. Whenever I've watched him properly, he drifts in and out of games - not something you want from a £90m central midfielder. Can seems to have more of an impact throughout 90 minutes. I'm not saying that won't change, but Pogba to me seems to be one of these highlight reel, match of the day players at his best. Clearly he has the potential, but does he have the attitude? He seems to be more concerned with his haircuts, basketball tops And perfecting his dance moves with that gnome, Lingard. At this very moment, I'd rather have Can. And who's to say Emre won't improve even further?

I hope he signs a new contract as he has all the attributes to make a good CM. Im definitely in the 'keep him' camp.

Yeah, I do not understand the delay here. He wants the DM role? Fine. Henderson is fucked anyway. He wants 100k a week? Fine. We've given it to Lovren.

We should get the deal over the line. There's a reason CL finalists are sniffing around him. He's a good player, not a brilliant one, but he certainly can be very good for the next 6-8 years for us.

Is it about the money though, could he be concerned that when everyone is fit his place is on the bench and we're not even done signing people yet?

Even if he doesn't push on to become the star some think he will, he's likely to appreciate in value in the next 12-24 months. Extend the contract.
