Is this guy worth looking at as a backup, I don't know much about his attributes pace, versatility, both feet etc but are Jay Rodriguez, Bony, or Remy significantly better. I'm sure we were linked with him before he signed for Blackburn.

He is only 24 and has a great scoring record or is the normal mantra of he is not Liverpool quality going to be rolled out.

never going to be good enough, the best and top 4 teams will have quality as backup, jordan rhodes is not the answer.

There's no way of knowing how lower league players are going to get on at Premier League level which is why I'm against the idea (generally) of spending more than about £8m on speculation. Rhodes cost Blackburn £9m and rumour has it they wouldn't consider selling him for less than £12m.

There have been many players over the years who have scored goals at lower level who many thought wouldn't be able to do it at the top level including our own Ricky Lambert (and John Aldridge from a bygone era). There have also been a few who have been technically suspect but have still managed to keep scoring at the top level c/f Lee Chapman, Steve Bull etc.

Rhodes is very good and there's every chance he could be prolific at the top level (and for a top 4 team) but it's not worth £12m to find out. Danny Ings is 2 years younger and in the last year of his contract so should be available for about £8m and IMO worth the risk.

If we sign him I will stop supporting Liverpool and proceed to shut the site down..
At the end of the day what's the point backing a club that Lacks ambition.. If we did sign him that's exactly what it would smack of.

Given Liverpool situation and where we are.. It won't happen, not in a million years

He's pretty clinical however I think his lace of pace and his tendency to be quite static (although he does have a knack for getting into decent positions) would hinder him at the top level.

My thoughts exactly...though I lack the power to shut down the site.
Chelsea signing the likes of Costa
Arsenal sign Sanchez
We fucking sign Rhodes.

I've been saying this, too. He'd be a good addition to the squad, especially if we're not going for a top international player. We've got very little even in the youth set up as far as goalscorers are concerned (at least until Yesil regains full fitness....)

Well, we're not really, so there's no need to overreact. It's not the brightest of offerings by any stretch, but it's better than listening to people fucking moan and moan about how we missed out on Sanchez.

I think it's a fair bit worse.
