Suarez is gone.

And we're gonna be seeing less of Stevie this year.

Who's gonna be our leader on the pitch ?

We need that match winner(s) or authoritative figure(s) who will lead the team when chips are down.

Who you reckon's gonna step up ?

CL semi final.

One goal to win it. 5 mins left on the clock.

Hendo filled with an immense will to win drives his team forward.

Nah, that didn't sound anything like Hendo at all.

You not witness him growing in to the role of a midfield general last year? Did our title challenge capitulate with his suspension?

You're asking years down the line aren't you? Gerrard is going to be playing in the semi this year and next.

Hendo is developing a good strong presence on the pitch

Lovren at the back and Lallana at the front, just like last season.

Henderson. Maybe not next year, but by the time the current skipper is finally done, he'll be ready and able to fill that role.

Hendo or Sakho for me.

Sakho was the youngest ever Captain for PSG, and was vice captain for France at the WC iirc.

Hendo for me Clive, he's already gotten pretty good at berating referees.

Too bad we don't have our hard man anymore to dish out justice on the pitch

Henderson is a real leader on the pitch right now. He does a lot of organising and calling people into position. Definitely future captain for me.

Why are we going to see less of Gerrard?

The answer to this question is still Steven Gerrard.

It was clear last season though that Gerrard needed a captain at times. We needed captains throughout the side.

Each line need a different leader. I hope Lovren can be the defensive leader, Hendo can take over from Gerrard when he retires, but when both are on the pitch, Gerrard is the leader. As for attack, I don't have a clue. There is a big, Suarez-shaped void in there right now, let's see who can step up. Only if we buy Reus or Cavani we can be sure there is a leader there.

Clive, shows Clive? Is there a Clive on SCM? Quintessential British name!

Ok, Phillipe C to be the fearless leader!

I agree on Henderson but the fact is if we sign either Isco or Reus or someone like that then Henderson won't play so much. If we'd signed Mkhtarian last year he wouldn't have got 20 games last year.

In a way it would be great if players who did well like Sterling and Henderson knew they had to make another massive step up next year.

The ideal midfield signing would be Axel Witsel, which I've seen saying for about 2 years now.

Witsel
Isco
Alex Sandro

Sign these and we'll have a squad to challenge anyone.

Yup. Exactly.

Hendo may be a fairly reasonable choice but will he be playing much this season ?

I reckon Sturridge will develop into a good leader, if given the chance. Plus, he's a winner.

Hendo will be one of the first names on the team sheet this season just like he was last season, out of all our players barring the GK i'd have Hendo down to be the player who plays the most games regardless of who else we sign.

When it comes to his leadership qualities i think we will only see that side of him truly flourish when Gerrard isn't around, we have already seen glimpses of it but Gerrard is the man and Hendo knows it and won't/can't fully express himself with Stevie there next to him, one of the things that really surprised me last season was how Hendo upped his game when Gerrard was out injured, he really did move it up a level or 3.
