Well he was certainly a step up from that Lazar fella. I thought he did well.
Markovic improved as the game went on, but still looks desperately short on confidence and muscle.

Coutinho offered less defensively than Markovic

I'm not sure what to be more annoyed at - our fans here or the result....

I suppose I should stay off this place for the day.

People are annoyed and want to vent, it's always the same. I almost always stay away when it's like this because there's no reasoning with it.

On the bright side, we've moved up into the top half of the table. All we need is for Hull, United, Stoke, Palace, West Brom and Sunderland to lose and we can stay here.

At least we're not Newcastle.

Yep @Le Chacal - He had no fucking chance with that. Very unlucky and disappointing but like I said there are many positives.

Yeah, I didn't think we were great today. No movement up top and no cutting edge. Relied on a freekick and went to shit with 5 minutes to go, dropping deeper and deeper. A LOT of work on to get top 4.

Markovic wasnt bad...he wasnt effective though ans we need more. I think he is just having difficulty expressing himself....will get better over time.

For all those saying we were 'unlucky' -how many clear cut chances did we create? We're unlucky on the back of having loads of possession?

Lallana had a great chance from a corner, Balotelli hit the bar from 4 yards out and we were denied a crystal clear penalty, along with a bunch a lesser half chances. On the other hand Everton had one punt from distance that went in, we were miles better than them. As usual we couldnt defend a lead to save our lives when it came down to it and paniced as soon as they strung 2 passes together, and I actually thought we were going to throw it away in the end but on the balance of play we should have won that.

The turning point was Browning coming on for them, he had the pace to neutralise a tired Sterling and give them an option on the right

He was overshadowed by McGeady, nuff said. Im not writing him off yet but hes been absolutely embarrassing so far in his attitude, Im not sure how football is played in Serbia and Portugal but he seem to have an irrational fear of being tackled

Markovic was shite. I'd love to see his stats. I'll probably watch it again tomorrow and watch Coutinho a bit more closely. You maybe right though. I spent most of the second half fanning my balls so wasn't paying particularly close attention.

Mignolet comes out and collects that cross they don't score. He's fucking useless.

I think this is correct. Ming isvery average . I thought he would improve his distribution and other aspects. He is a better shot stopper than Pepe, but Reina is pretty much ahead in every other aspect. When are we getting Valdes....is there any chance of this happening?

Last year all our attacking play and movement was through Suarez and Sturridge, we've lost both of them. Naturally, we'll struggle.
On the bright side, I thought Lallana was terrific today.

We invited the pressure at the end, defending too deep.

With Mario in the team we can't counter teams in the same way as we did last season, so we really we should (and could) have killed the game off.

We certainly controlled the game in terms of possession, but I don't think it would be fair to say we dominated them. Both teams created chances - we could easily have gone in at half time 1-0 down if Lovren hadn't made that clearance from McGeady's(?) low cross across the box, and though Howard had a good game - possibly even a very good game - I should imagine our stats look more impressive than the reality.

Moreno, though he had a decent game again, was evidently always going to be second best trying to outmuscle Lukaku, who was their ever-present outlet on the right, and with him knocking the ball down for Naismith or taking it himself, it wasn't as though they were without threat.

Lallana was bright throughout and him and Henderson typified the Rodgers philosophy in terms of closing down the opposition and keeping them on the back foot - but they can't do it on their own. All it really takes is one or two players to not buy into that and it falls apart.

Ref was shite. Barry should've been off as well as giving away a stonewall pen, and I'm surprised that Besic didn't get carded for his petulant little trip on Balotelli - but then perhaps the ref was as annoyed as the rest of us with his constant theatrics throughout the match. Someone should have a word and tell him to pack it the fuck in

No one thought our midfield shouldn't be sitting on our cbs laps at the end of the game then?

No one (bar Lallana) was pressing at the end.

I thought Lallana started really well and faded. He didn't offer much cutting edge or threat, but I put that down to lack of movement ahead of him.

We were the better team throughout. Should have won. Deserved to win. Sitting back again though cost us. The only plus, glad we never wasted £28m on Lukaku. He's muck.

Not that they're playing badly, but I hope we see some more end product out of sterling and the llama soon. They seem to be doing most everything else right.

Sitting here watching United fuck West Ham. Why am I bothering? I'm going to bed. Goodnight.

Yeah there was a stretch between maybe 50-90 where Lallana seemed to have really faded before finding a second wind to press.

In other news their sad fans have just flown a banner over Madrids game begging Ronaldo to come "home". They know hes Portuguese right?

United will score a lot of goals as they have some great players up front.
But they will also concede a lot.
Just like we did last season.
Hope they concede more than they score.

I got slaughtered on here the other day for having a go at him. The Derby only confirmed my fears.
