Provisional squad: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can, Mane, Firmino, Salah, Karius, Gomez, Klavan, Robertson, Milner, Grujic, Origi, Solanke, Sturridge.

For me :

............................. Ming
AA ......... Matip ........,......Lovren ........ Robertson

............... Henderson ......... Can

..............................Firmino

Salah .................. Sturridge............. Mane

Solanke for Sturridge if not fit enough to start th switch with 30 mins to go. Wijnaldum needs to know that inept performances will not be tolerated.

I'm not sure Robertson can defend, if he can he plays ahead of Moreno. If he can't - well we've seen what happens when you play two unreliable defenders in the same team, so we'll need to do something different. I'm assuming he can't for now.

I don't like Can and Henderson together either, but i like Firmino a bit deeper.

TAA - Matip - Lovren - Gomez

Wijnaldum - Can
Firmino

Salah - Solanke - Mane

Wijnaldum deserves to be dropped, yes, but if we're talking about inept performances, then Mignolet, Matip, Moreno and Lovren should also be fucked off, as our Keystone Klopp defence is a joke that keeps on giving*.

And yeah, Wijnaldum is fucking shit away from home, but he does OK at Anfield, and we don't have any other options, so we probably have to play the three in midfield that nobody ever really wants to see playing together. And Klopp doesn't trust Grujic, Sturridge or Robertson, so we'll probably see:

----------------------Mignolet--------------------

TAA---------Matip-----------Lovren------Milner

Henderson

Can----------Wijnaldum

Salah--------------Firmino----------Mane

I'd be tempted to play Sturridge or Solanke, but I have no idea how fit Studge is, or indeed what a fully fit Sturridge even looks like these days.

Same team as last year but with Salah instead of Coutinho.

Christ we are cunts.

Wijnaldum turns up at home so we should use him when he's actually worthwhile.

---------------------------MIgnolet-------------------------------
TAA----------Matip--------------Lovren------------Robertson
--------------------hendo----------can----------------------------
------------------------------wijnaldum----------------------------
salah-----------------------firmino--------------------mane

Hendo should just be sitting there protecting the back 4 with Can getting forward occasionally. Have wijnaldum do what he does best which is go forward linking the midfield with attack.

That midfield doesn't create nor defend very well. We really have some thoughts to sort out the next 24 hours if this is going to work out.

Erm thats our midfield. Thats as good as it gets

I know it is Our midfield. Thats why we have to work it out somehow. If it was Palace midfield I would acknowledge that they lacked the ability to create or defend well and then hope they didn't work it out.

Work what out? Magic? Prayer? Poison the oppo?
Thats our team. What can we work out?
Its August and we still have that midfield.
Maybe you are finally starting to get it.

Prey is probably not helping as I am not sure we all prey to the same god.

However, we have played a couple of games now, and there is plenty evidence that we don't solve the midfield area well enough. Hence we look into what we are doing wrong, and work on positioning ourselves so we control the midfield better. They might not be the best midfileders in the world, but they are not stupid either. Things than can be sorted should be sorted. We will not buy someone tonight and stuff him straight in there anyway.

It might be that we change the formation slightly, keep Can and Gini as holders and let Firmino play behind Solanke. Or even let Milner or Grujic play behind Firmino. If we are to keep those Three we at least need more runs from Gini and Can in to the box. Deep long runs that drags their midfielders out of position and open more rooms.

What doesn't help is to hope for Hendo to put away one or maybe two long range passes throughout the game, and then continue as we did the first two games.

So I got it. First game - adjust. Second game - adjust more.... And so it goes till we tick tock tick tock throughout the game.

They would defend well if hendo and can were told to just sit there and protect the back 4. Our problem is we tell them all to bomb forward which leaves us exposed.

HeavyMetal football doesn't come from sitting back and protect. Mourinho football comes from that!!

All i care about is winning football. I don't see why we can't have a balance between attacking and defending. Whats the point of throwing everyone forward if it leaves you exposed all the time. We're gonna win fuck all if we can't keep clean sheets.

We can keep clean sheets. We kept 5 of last 6 clean last season. People were moaning their arses of about the team not scoring. So yes you can, but that is not what we aim for. We aim to win football games by playing football, and not to avoid loose them and snatch a win if we can.

Where is this written down? Is it some kind of LFC mantra?

Winning is all that matters. That's the Liverpool mantra. Or was. When we were a top side.
