Sorry that the thread actually peter out as I got busier. Let's all post related news and updates as we come across them. Btw, shall we add Keita to the list? :p

Shamal George on the bench for Carlisle United today (Carlisle 1 - 1 Mansfield)

George played in the Football League Trophy Group stage game in midweek and kept a clean sheet (Morecambe 0 - 2 Carlisle)

Toni Gomes came on at half time for Forest Green (Wycombe 3 - 1 Forest Green)

    • HT| SUB FOR FGR: One change at the break as Wishart makes way for deadline day signing Toni Gomes.
    • 73| Noble's free kick is spilled by 'keeper Scott Brown and Gomes is nearly on hand to poke home the loose ball but it's well cleared
    • 86| Gomes gets on the end of a James flick and cuts inside beating his man. His effort on goal is well blocked for a corner

Jordan Williams started for Rochdale (Southend 0-0 Rochdale) - Rochdale down to 10 men after 50 mins.
Article: Jordan Williams was a main target for us - KH
Keith Hill spoke to iFollow after recruiting Jordan Williams on loan until January…

The Gaffer had been keen to recruit the Liverpool Academy product during the close season, and he is pleased to have completed the signing.

“He was a main target for us through the summer," Hill said.

“We were constantly in contact with Liverpool and his representatives about Jordan Williams but he was very sought after.

“It came down to the wire but we managed to get the job done, which is a great signing from our perspective.

“He’s a very, very adept central midfielder. He’s got a great stature about him. We’re looking forward to working with him.”

    • 9. CLOSE! Williams (11) forces Oxley into a save & the goalkeeper turns the strike onto the post!
    • 12. Done is clattered into & Dale are awarded a free-kick on the right. Williams (11) drives it into near post & Southend defend away
    • 27. Corner to Dale. Williams (11) sends the corner towards the back post where Canavan wins the header, but Southend defend out of the area
    • 31. Williams (11) runs at goal & attempts to break into the area but there's a well-timed challenge from Bwomono to stop him
    • 35. YELLOW CARD: Rafferty is caught late & Dale have a free-kick out on the right, tight to the touchline. McLaughlin goes in the book. Williams (11) sends the free-kick into the area. It's won by Done but Southend are quick to defend the ball away #RAFC
    • McLaughlin takes the set-piece & fires it into the area. Williams (11) gets a head on it to take it behind for a corner
    • DALE SUB: OFF Williams (11), ON Inman

    Taiwo Awoniyi

Quite noticeable that we have a German manager.

There's only 2! One of which went to a rich club who would pay his wages.

    Could argue he was English

Allan went to Germany on loan as well. I can't recall us loaning out players to German clubs before.

Perhaps, but we've never really loaned players to Cypriot teams either

With a stellar record of yoof players coming through the ranks in Germany it's a good platform so I'm hopeful Origi and Kent will benefit. De Bruyne rejuvenated his career at Wolfsburg before his big move to City so there maybe hope for Big Divock.

Ex-scout Julian Ward (yes, the one credited with the "findings" of Aspas, Illori, Moreno and Markovic etc.) who is now the Loan Pathways & Football Partnerships Manager was apparently heavily involved in deciding where the players are sent out on loan to (amongst those interested).

I'm a little pessimistic about Allan's future at the club. From Finland to Belgium then Germany and now Cyprus. Would it have been better served if he gets to stay in a specific team for a couple of seasons or remain in the same league while hopefully moving up the ladder to bigger clubs there? One plus point though is they are involved in the Europa League (same group as Everton).

Taiwo Awoniyi is another - Germany, Netherlands and now Belgium. Another issue is that over the past 3 yrs of loan, they haven't consistently gotten regular football. Could end up the Armin Hodzic pathway (i.e. signed but failed to get work permit eventually and left the club). Hopefully there will be some kind of loan term planning even for loans.

I'm starting to doubt that Allan is that much of a talent.

Yeah, if he's not making an impact at his age then he's really not going to cut the mustard

Im thinking of the difficulties he's having in getting a work permit.

Predominantly because he's not seen as having an extraordinary talent /ability by the him office. A decent loan spell could change that

Allan is only at the Cypriot side because they're in the europa league .

I imagine there had been assurances made that he will get some EL appearances whilst they're in it (assuming they go out at the group stage) that will help considerably with the prospect of getting his visa sorted .

No idea if he's any good like

Can we count Keita in the loan watch?

    Looking superb:

I fear by the time he arrives though, we'll have lost Can and sold Coutinho.

He looks very good. Didn't realise he was such a playmaker.  Loves to beat a man.

A mix between Kante and Deco they said.. I didn't think it was possible, but he seems to be a very progressive player.

The only concern is he's actually not a true DM. RB Leipzig play a 4-4-2 with Demme being the sitting midfielder and Keita being box to box.

Having said that, whilst I think he'll play in the number 8 position, I still think he will give us more a bit more defensive stability than a Wini/Cout/Can/Lallana can.

Allan's problem is his name. He plays like an Allan. It's nominative determinism.
