Loic Remy

Cavani 50-60 mill, insane wages

Falcao 50-60 mill, insane wages

Muniain, 15-20 mill, not a striker and has regressed the last couple of season

Koke, wont leave Atletico

Remy for 8 mill adds 15ish goals and is a very good signing. It means we can add a Griezmann etc to the squad aswell.
Seeing as we cant replace Suarez with one like for like player. The smart thing would be to add two players imho.
One striker and one attacking midfielder/winger.

We need quality. We can replace Suarez with ten players but they'll have to fit on the pitch as well.
We've currently got Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling and Markovic. Ibe on the fringes. Am I forgetting someone?

Add Remy and then spend some serious dosh on an attacking midfielder of real quality.
Instead of spunking 20 mill on a Muniain type player.

Echo - #LFC are prepared to trigger the £8m release clause for Remy and are locked in talks with his representatives over personal terms.

Happy with this. Since he's been in England, he's hit 20 goals in 40 games for both QPR and Newcastle. For £8 million, you won't find better value than that.

Just like the Lallana, Bony, Davies, transfers/rumours; people are judging Remy on the pricetag.

'He's 8M, definitely get him!'

We've got fucking LOADS of money, shouldn't we judge these guys on what they'll bring to us, rather than the fucking pricetag?? Take Lallana for example; great player, super player, and (I may regret this) I can't see how he doesn't work in our side, but cunts are all up in arms cos we had to pay 25M for him, or whatever.

Same for Bony. 25 goals that fucker scored last year. 25. That's more than Sturridge. How the fuck could you not want that? Remy scored just over half that, yet people want him ahead of Bony? Why, because he's cheaper.

Judge players on their worth to our side, not their transfer fee.

By the way; I like Remy, and think he'd do well.

You honestly made me really laugh here. In a good way. Thanks for clarifying,

So you think he's a third option, a player to give options off the bench or when there's fatigue?

I like Remy, he looked a good player for QPR (too good for them really) and he has backed it up at Newcastle, hes quick, a good finisher and versatile, if Sturridge gets injured then Remy is an able replacement to come in and play his role and be a success, he'll be a good option off the bench for us as well, i expect he'll be wanting more than that but we will have to wait and see how it goes, hopefully he can really push Sturridge, competition for Sturridge can only be a good thing, keeps him on his toes.

The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool have made an approach to QPR for striker Loic Remy and are looking to trigger the French international's £8.5million release clause.

I think most value him by what he brings to the side. 16 goals in 26 league games. Bony had 16 in 34 games.
For 8 mill its nearly a risk free signing. Thats why most are quoting the fee I guess, even though we're minted.
But that doesnt change the fact that we need to make the right type of signings.
The last time we had 100 mill in our pockets we pissed most of it away.

It's a great value deal but it reeks of meh. With the Suarez money and any potential Borini and Assaidi money we need a superstar (or one who's nearly there ala Suarez and Torres when they first signed) to brighten up this window.

I think we need the right players for the team. The price is immaterial. People are too hung up on landing these superstar names a lot of whom are just overpriced in relation to what they actually bring

I wonder if it's a case of us wanting four strikers, Remy would offer something similar to Sturridge and can play with/instead of, then hopefully we'll bring in another top attacker. Adding that to Lallana, Can, Markovic and Lambert, we've given ourselves a good standing in terms of squad depth and options. Markovic could be that winger we were trying hopelessly to to get over the last two Summers and he looks like he could be the next 'big' player for us, Can has given us depth in the deep/defensive area of midfield, Lallana offers us an alternative to what we have in Coutinho AND he provides good cover to the flanks, while Lambert is a no fuss leader from the front who will weigh in with the goals, give everything for us and won't moan if he's on the fringe.

All in all, great business so far. Personally I hope we see a centre back, fullback and a top brass attacker (aswell as Bony/Remy) and we'll be looking in shit-hot shape.

Remy can play wide as well as up front, which would be an added plus for Brendan given the interchanging he expects from his attacking players. If Remy can be as effective as he was for a Toon side which was all over the place at times, he should thrive in a set-up like ours.

I'd like to see us making more progress strengthening the defence though.

Yeah, I think we will, I just think that for whatever reason, those two deals have dragged their heals (Lovren and Moreno). I'd rather see us buy Ben Davies, but anyway.

Whoever we get (up top) isn't going to replace Suarez, we're more or less replacing him with two or three players to compensate and give us depth. I just feel sorry for the poor fucker who gets drawn as a direct comparison.

Was Remy in the French world cup squad? If he was why wasn't he playing? If he wasn't playing why would we want him? A reserve striker (with personal issues) for 8 million. We certainly need better.
