[article]In equalling Sami Hyypia's 10-year stint with the Reds, it means only four overseas players in the club's 125-year history have ever spent longer at Anfield. They are Arthur Riley (South Africa, 1925-1940), Berry Nieuwenhuys (South Africa, 1933-1947), Bruce Grobbelaar (Zimbabwe, 1981-1994) and Jan Molby (Denmark, 1984-1996).
Hyypia (328) and Pepe Reina (285) are the only foreign stars who can beat Lucas' current tally of 242 Premier League outings for the Reds.[/article]

Does he deserve a testimonial? James Pearce argues yes.

Absolutely, but at the same time more prominent players like John Barnes and as you mentioned Hyypia, didn't get testimonials either.

Yes he should, usually the money is given to a needy cause of the players choosing these days, so absolutely we should celebrate 10 years of the anti brazilian.

And I depressingly read he wants a new contract too.

Yes. Lucas isn't even close to being in the same league as true club legends like Digger and Sami, but the fact that they didn't get testimonials shouldn't prevent him from doing so - it just means they should have. He's been a model professional and, at his best, a useful player, plus less fortunate folks will benefit if there is one.

Only if every one of the 53 000 in stands wears a Lucas mask and shouts "unlukeeeee" for the entire game.

He's apparently the most respected player in the dressing room. That's the problem with our club right there.
