Thought he was going to be part of the Georginio deal, but that didn't happen. Spurious links to Galatasaray wanting him now.

Despite his limitations managers (past and present) have liked him and there's every chance we could see him have his testimonial next season.

I thought he was done for last summer and he somehow stayed.
This time we've got Stewart who Klopp just promoted. Can is apparently our first choice in that anchor role.
I'm not sure what position Grujic will occupy but I'm guessing it's either the CM or maybe the DM spot.
Add Hendo to the mix and it puts Lucas in a very peculiar position. So I really think this is it for him.

Still none of the players I mentioned above are better than Lucas in the classic DM destroyer position.

He'll stay if he wants to be a rotational player imo ... If he still feels he can contribute as a starter somewhere, I think he'll move on.

But klopp doesn't seem to want a classic DM destroyer which makes him surplus to requirements.

He'll stay, he does the best BBQ's in Liverpool,

He's the best paid concierge in the world. He helps all our new players settle in. No way will the club sell him.

Liverpool have suffered an injury blow with the news that Lucas Leiva will miss the start of the season. The experienced Brazilian midfielder will be sidelined for around a month after a scan revealed the extent of a hamstring strain. Lucas limped off during last week's friendly victory at Huddersfield Town and his worst fears have been realised.

If Emre is not ready yet then we won't even have a DM for Arsenal first game of the season.

Apparently Klopp wants only 1 more player most likely to be a left back.

I think it's crucial that he also buys a DM.

Stewart is a limited, mediocre footballer and isn't anywhere near good enough to play for Liverpool, so he's a perfect Lucas replacement

I'm afraid I am in complete agreement. We kept Stewart and we let the properly talented Rossiter leave.

He has lost more pace in recent years.
He was always relatively nippy in his challenges which make him efficient in the past. He is no longer and you see him struggle to get around the pitch. Players are just going to run rings around him.

Shifting him to central defence should really tell you what you need to know about the level he's at now.

Let's not rewrite history now. Lucas has only played CB when injuries demanded it.

I don't rate Stewart but at least he's able to compete physically. Rossiter never really showed any skill or special talent in the limited opportunities he got in the first team but what he did demonstrate was that he looked out of his depth outside of youth and reserve team football.

It'll be interesting to see how he gets on up in Scotland and whether he bulks up.

This doesn't square with my thinking at all. Remember, because he was injured he didn't get a chance at all last season. The season before (aged 17!) he got a couple of chances as a sub and looked good, and even scored. He always played several levels above his age group and had always had to compete physically in a level that should in terms of physique, been 'out of his depth'. His skill levels have always looked very good especially in terms of overall game management and intelligence. This being said, I wonder if Klopp does prefer a more athletic type in midfield. I would have liked Rossiter to have not been so unlucky with injuries last season and showed Klopp what he had to offer.

He won't ever get a game because he's behind Can, Milner, Wijnaldum, Henderson and Branagan in midfield and Matip, Sakho, Thor, Lovren, and Gomez (when fit) in defence

He's the most expensive BBQ host in the world

10 year testimonial and massive payout, I think he will be happy to leave on that high note.

Testimonial means a lot of money to charity. If you think he would keep a single pound of the money from that game then you don't know Lucas at all.

Maybe he will but if he kept all the money I would not begrudge him.

I have always wondered how his career and opinion on SCM would have panned out if Neville hadn't handled the ball and he had scored in his debut.

Last minute winner on his debut in a Derby = Instant legend status.
