Man Utd to appoint Mourinho

Like Ronaldo will ever move to a European club that don't play in the CL. He would risk losing his CL goal scoring record to Messi. His ego will never risk that happening.

Ronaldo will move to PSG, if he leaves Real.
Can see Mourinho going for either Zlatan or Lukaku

Good to see that Utd are already annoyed about the news leaking out yesterday. Everything with Mourinho is cunt and cuntish behaviour. Suits them.

Lukaku? the player Mourinho kicked out?
Lukaku will end up at Chelsea, the club he always wanted to succeed at .

Lukaku said that he wouldnt mind working with Mourinho again.
But yeah, could end up at Chelsea aswell.

Latest "rumour" from Sweden is that Zlatan will join Utd as a player/assistent manager....

Either he comes in & is true to form & buys short term success before leaving the club in a mess, or he tries to play youth, buy younger players & do it a different way.

If it's the former, then long term they're in the shit. If it's the latter then you'd hope that the old adage of an old dog learning new tricks holds true, & he fucks up as badly as Moyes when he tried to change his managerial style for the mancs.

It could even be both - tries option 2, doesn't make it work, so switches to option 1 which is essentially his default position.

Best part is Fergie and Bobby Charlton did not want this to happen so there is going to be tons of fighting behind the scenes between Woodward, Bacon Face, Charlton, Maureen and Jorge Mendes.

It's all gonna go tits up eventually.

There's potentially massive upside or downside with this.

Downside is obviously that he does well, but the upside of him failing badly, & killing 2 c#*ts with one stone, is just so sweet its almost worth the risk

This is the beginning of the end of the Mourinho myth.

What myth?

- Winning three Premiership titles so far?
- Winning the European Cup twice?
- Winning the title in EVERY SINGLE ONE of his clubs, in EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY he has managed in?

Perhaps it's the myth of being overly defensive and not producing entertaining football?

- He's been in the top two for goals scored in four out of the five seasons he's managed here.
- When he won La Liga, his Real team scored 121 goals. A record.

Maybe it's his mistrust of youth and refusal to take risks on less experienced players?
  • The Chelsea title winners in 2004/5 had the youngest average age of any title winning side in history.
Mourinho has the highest % of wins of any manager in Premiership history. In 212 games he's won 66% of his games. That's better than Ferguson, Wenger, Pellegrini, Mancini and Ancelotti.

Myth? What myth?

Unless he's done some deep soul searching and used the time well to consider his own mistakes and how he can develop the way he sets a team up and develops a squad, I can't see this ending particularly well for Man Utd. Mourinho is obsessed with taking down Guardiola - you can see it not only in the way that he talks about him and acts around him, but also in the briefings sent out by his allies in the media (*waves at Duncan Castles*). He'll become too concerned with beating Guardiola - specifically him - rather than actually developing a squad for the long term.

Yes he's a better manager than Van Gaal but he's not a better manager than Guardiola and I'd be more concerned with an appointment of someone younger like (but not necessarily him) Tuchel or someone more at the forefront of the game like Simeone than I am about Mourinho because there is an extent to which his style of play is a little regressive these days. Simeone, for instance, has taken Mourinho's way of playing and moved it on, to more effectively combat teams that press and play a bit more directly.

Mourinho doesn't tend to have the longevity to establish good enough foundations to make any team a consistent long-term success. His tendency to play a relatively small group of players ends up knackering them out and his combative approach cheeses a lot of people off within a club after a while.

If he concentrated on his own job, developing his own approach then I think he could be a long term success at the mancs, but Mourinho is too arrogant and self-obsessed to be able to do that. His priority won't be restoring Man Utd to former glory, it will be about getting one over Pep and silencing his critics. And I think that approach is much more inherently likely to fail.

Wow. You really like him, huh?

No, I fucking hate him. I despised his Chelsea teams and I hope he fails at United. Miserably.

But I'm not a fucking moron who struggles to deal with silly stuff like "facts", and I'm gutted that United are going to make him manager and not stick with LVG, or appoint another clueless twat like Moyes. Because Mourinho is, quite evidently, a hugely talented and successful manager.

Mourinho will have inherited a team that is way past its best, many old players and failed signings that need shipping out... It requires major surgery... The team are probably on par with Chelsea, except they have one or two decent young players coming through... They also have an Inept Board who are the only club that have been worse than us at signing players in recent years

All the other teams he has walked into it was much different, I cannot see this ending at all well, given how things ended at Chelsea last season with a Team that was way past its best..

Yes, well let's all hope that for the first time in his entire career, Mourinho manages a club that doesn't win the title under him, to go with the eight league titles he's already won in four different countries at four different clubs.

First time for everything, eh?

*fingers crossed*

Every club he's been at for more than a decade, winning the league has been par for the course.

Doesn't mean he won't exceed expectations at Utd, but it's still something to temper the worship with.

There is also a case for whether or not his football philosophy has regressed over the last few years.
17 of the titles he won came before 2010. 5 after. Still a very good record, but it looks like his tactics has regressed a bit.
Not won the CL after 2010 either. Went out in the last 16 round both the 2 last years with Chelsea.
He's also spent more money then anyone else. With Porto, Inter, Real Madrid would you expect them to be anywhere else than nr 1 or 2 in the league?

A fantastic manager but can he "change" and adapt to create the same at Utd? Thats the big question for me.
The last year at Chelsea brought out a few sides to him that we hadnt seen before. He kept going with something that was clearly not working.

The Utd hierarchy wasnt happy with Mendes leaking the news before van Gaal knew.
And when the first incident happens where he gaugs someones eye out or makes horrendous claims about a referee, what then?
Ferguson and Charlton were apparently against him getting the job.
If true it will create a lot of tension when he starts to drag that club down in the mud with him.

I hope it happens. I would love it to go tits up.

Mourinho is a cunt of the highest order but he's a fucking winner....short term. How anyone here can be happy about his appointment to the scum is beyond me. He will command instant respect with the players and will bring in quality players as well as making them practically impossible to beat at home. He'll clear out all the shit and bring in players who will die for him.

Their home record this season under him was shocking.
3 wins in 8 games and 5 losses. Lets hope he continues that form with Utd.

Yeah, since he left Inter they've won it......oh, never again.

And since his title win with Real Madrid, they've also won.....oh, zero times since.

Apart from that, yeah. SPOT ON.
