Mario Balotelli

He's still getting no service, but he was really poor today. Couple of really bad misses. Hoping he gets partnered with Sturridge at some point and sorts himself out.

NO SERVICE????

He blew one over the bar from 6 yards with no goalie in, FFS.

That came back at him pretty fast and the ball appeared to bounce a little high.

He should have scored, but yeah its a bit difficult when it bounces just before you shoot.
No excuses though, should have buried it.

Had a decent attempt later in the game. At least he's getting chances now. We know he can score goals.

I think the problem is we've signed him as a gamble, I believe Rodgers thought that at 16 mill it wouldn't be the end of the world if he flopped, the problem is, he's effectivley been brought as our second choice striker, you can't take a gamble on a player that's going to play every game, you need to buy proven players for his role here.

The plonker doesn't seem to realize that this is probably his last chance in top flight football.

Patience is wearing thin.

Shite today, and whilst people can rightly point to a lack of service, he had the ball in danagerous positions at least 5 or 6 times today and blew it every time.

I am in the withering minority ...

I think he'll come good ...

He'll never give 100% effort like Suarez (Watch, Studge won't either without Suarez around).

He is however getting into good positions ... He's quite obviously trying far too hard - and is so desperate to score that he's fucking up his chances, taking too much time to make decisions etc ... He's a smart, good football player. I think once Studge is on the pitch with him - as we saw with Spurs - a lot of opportunities will open up for him and he'll be fine.

I'm still expecting 15+ league goals from him.

He was fucking rubbish today. I wonder if he has any appetite for football or goals at all. It just seems like he's constantly battling himself in his head.

He didn't even celebrate our winning goal maybe because he thought he would score it. Getting bored of him already.

It's clear his head isn't right. It's seems like the whole world is on his shoulders until he scores that first game. Very much like Lambert. Not sure what Rodgers can do but don't we have that sports psychologist on our books?

Incidentally, how long did it take till Crouch scored his first?

Only saw highlights. Had the awful situation of missing game whilst being dragged around ikea.

Mate sending me updated said my day was less painful [emoji1]

Ha. Only said what I saw on our last goal. He turned away.

Footy wise. He has been shown up by lots of less experienced cheaper strikers in PL this year.

Are you seriously comparing Balotelli's commitment to Gerrard's?
1. I'm not comparing the two side by side. You said players who give a shit some of the time, which Gerrard squarely falls into, based on his lackadaisical positioning and tracking.

2. The metric you chose was "giving a shit" not commitment.

So the answer is no.

Yeah, he's been pants but by the time we signed him, we really had no real options left. Still hoping he works out but he's got no chance as a lone forward.

I think he's going to grow up with us. It will take a bit of time. Second half of the season you'll all be fawning over him.
