Mario Balotelli

Brendan on talk sport this morning backing up Mario. He said that he plays much better with a strike partner. No shit. Maybe we should play him with a partner then.

This. It's one of the reasons why we should be playing the diamond formation IMO.

maybe Rodgers still thinks Balotelli can do better even up on his own:

I don't think it's just down to him being isolated though, Sterling and co got around him yesterday. The amount of attacks we had where we had numbers forward, only for Mario to go heads down and try to take everyone on, or his usual shoot on sight policy, no matter how tight the angle or how far out he is, or how many bodies are in front of him.

I agree there are times when he's isolated, and I hated seeing us trying to launch it from deep yesterday, those diagonal passes and typical target man hoofs were frustrating, but he had chances and he had support.

Watch the first goal again, he's completely switched off with his back to the play, he could have bagged a goal had he been alert.

If that's the case then why didn't he buy TWO strikers in the summer seeing as how every man and his dog knew that studge will be injured for many periods of the season as he's made of glass.

Mario's biggest problem is his pride. His big fat ego.

He's been pampered and playing the victim card all throughout his life, adopting a siege mentality if you like, and now that he finds himself in an entirely new situation where he no longer receives much empathy, and being taken a lot more seriously, and not being afforded the luxury to spit the dummy whenever he feels like it....he becomes dumbstruck with a mixture of terror, fear and confusion. It's like he doesn't know how to react. For the first time in his life, he's been asked to grow up and he doesn't know how or what it means to be an adult. It's like the emperor discovering he has been naked to the watching world the whole time and is burning with embarrassment and shame.

His sulking is a facade put up to hide his fears.

I feel sorry for him because in a way, it has everything to do with his upbringing, yet at the same time, frustrated for him - because he looks more lost than ever, not just as a player, but as a person.

If he is only willing to humble himself and unlearn and learn - he can and will improve.
But the main problem is this - is he willing to admit that he's made lots of mistakes and to submit himself to be taught ?
There are signs of it but saying one thing in the media and sincerely desiring and acting on it, is an entirely different thing altogether.

PS : I think Mario is every psychology student's wet dream.

I'm still fuming about his display yesterday.

He going to ruin us as a team.

You can see the likes of Lallana and Sterling getting pissed off already with his attitude. Everything breaks down with him and it's going to get tot the point where players avoid him.

The finish he skied over smacked of complacency and the flick at 2-2 was just an insult. He HAD to score that heyet he does something like that.

Can you imagine what someone like Roy Keane would have done to him if he was in the same team? I hope Gerrard tore a fucking strip off the guy.

He'll never do what it takes to win. The Anti-Suarez.

He's the epitome of my classing a certain type of player as a 'merde sac'. He's basically a shit bag with a smidge of class.

Even if I agreed I could never get on board with this fucking abortion of a post.
Ha. I can't see it improving at all (Mario's form I mean)
You look at the other players and even Henderson is throwing his hands up in the air in frustration when he tamely sends another selfish shot wide. The rest of the players don't want him here.

That's fucking daft. The rest of the players don't want him here? Mental.

... Thinly veiled?
I think it's something to do with comparing Heskey and Balotelli. Although I'm not sure where exactly the racism comes into it. Is it racist to compare an English man with an Italian?

So everyone on board with the he's completely fuckinh useless yet?

That's pretty harsh. I don't think he's "completely fuckinh useless".
However, I never thought he'd be good for us, and never wanted us to sign him. I don't know what made Rodgers change his mind and sign him after declaring he was never signing for us.
Unfortunately, I still haven't seen anything from him that will make me change my mind. I really hope I'm wrong.
