Mario Balotelli

It's a shame the reserve league system is such a shambles these days, because what Lambert needs is an old-fashioned run-out in the ressies to get back the feel of getting a couple of goals. Instead he's just stuck on the bench, getting more and more anxious and frustrated. It's not like he's got time to waste, we need him to get some confidence back asap.

Absolutely, and there are others who would also benefit too. Actually it would be easier to name those who wouldn't.

To be fair Hansern, you haven't delayed judgement on him at all - you think he's class and just needs a little change in luck and better support from teammates to display this.

Saying you'll delay your judgement as though you're somehow unbiased about him is a myth.

Whether he scores 5 goals or 25 goals I think he does as much harm to the team as good. Shaqiri or even Wellbeck would have been better fits to the team as a whole. I actually like Balotelli and agree he's got tremendous talent. Just not the sort of talent which improves this team.

I hope like hell that he has a great game tonight and I'd love it if he scored a brace but it won't change the fact that he doesn't improve this team as a whole.

I agree With some of that mate. But its not quite as easy as that.
He doesnt fit into our style of play but I see us getting more out of him when deployed next to Studge.
He has tremendous talent but the biggest quesion is wheter or not he can change his game around to be a match for how we want to set up. That I'm not sure about and I struggle to see any qualities in him were he can develop this in the future. I would love to be proved wrong mind.

I think he's class in terms of natural ability and I know he can score goals but so far its been little of either tbh.
The reason I'm vocal about him is because I'm not a fan of calling People shite after 5-6 games.
It happens to most of our players that dont perform right away.

Watching the CL yesterday I was left a bit surprised that we didnt go for a player like Doumbia when the Remy deal fell through.
We could have signed someone similar that would have been a much better fit than Balotelli. But he's here now so I'll give him time, not 5-6 games.

Balotelli has a fucking powerful shot, he can hold off defenders with his strength, and he lays it off pretty accurately too. Even when he's surrounded by defenders his one touch passes still reach guys that are over 30 yards away. Right now the rest of the team expect him to make a run and get pissed off at not being able to play a nice through ball. Balotelli has in fairness started to run after taking abuse off the midfield, and every time he's getting caught off side. It's stupid and not the way to go. Once we figure out that it's ok to just pass it to where he's standing, his laziness will be far less of a problem.

I'm thinking that it only took Gerrard 2 minutes to figure it out when he played in attack. The fact it's taking Sterling, Henderson and Coutinho 2 months and counting is almost comical.

A shame. If Rodgers now says he picked up a "knock" in the first half that will all but confirm his demise.

He was sensible with possession, made great passes, and made some decent runs today.

He got fuck all support from sterling and Coutinho

Completely agree, the players stopped trying around him, he wasn't good enough, but nor was the team.

I'd play Lallana off him this weekend. Lallana is delightfully intelligent

haha sky just squealed on Balotelli to Rodgers, he swapped shirts at half time Brendan so he did!!

Apparently he didn't cone back out to the bench for the second half. According to the sky lot.

Carragher:
"I'd be surprised to see him at the club next season" On why he was signed "It was a panic... they left it too late"

Redknapp:
"I don't blame Mario, I blame Brendan Rodgers for bringing him here" "There's a reason when you go to the supermarket and beans are half price"

I think Balotelli is being scapegoated. He put in plenty of effort in the first half but he's not suited to the lone striker role.

If you have to look for a culprit I suggest Steven Gerrard. In his new role he is supposed to be helping out the defence but there was no evidence of this.

LTW, Portly and Fabio ... who else is in this ever shrinking 'Mario could still come good' Fan Club?

I'm still in it.
The problem is our expectations, he basically replaced Suarez and we're expecting him to turn defenders inside out like his predecessor. He won't and he never will.
When we start playing to his strengths, like for instance giving him a partner upfront he'll come good. Like I said before, let's just wait until Studge is back.
